"Grandpa!" This time I jumped onto my grandfather as he looked away and I was like a little puppy trying to convey to him not to tell my mother that, last night I come into the kitchen. "Hmph. Do not forget tonight too" I took a deep breath as I nodded so fast before Mother become suspicious of me. Song Yi was no longer there when Grandfather come into my room and suddenly father's eunuch comes into my room and informed him that the Emperor has summoned him. I can feel the knot tightening inside my stomach as I tried to stay calm as I can. "Why did the Emperor summoned father?" I asked mother acting as if I know nothing.
"Well, your father is the emperor trusted general and of course, it is common for him to get summoned by the emperor" I smile half-heartedly and walked away to clean up the mess I made since last night. "Sister Xi Youran, let's play outside" My little sister called for me. I was about to refuse her but I know I am so weak to that puppy looks of her. "Fine...but only for a while since your sister just recovered" Xi Yue smile and pulled me to the Lotus Garden. "The crippled is here" I looked towards the very familiar voice. "Sister!" Xi Yue comes running towards me as I picked her up. Grandfather Wang Jiang touched my shoulder and in the next few seconds, we were already inside my room. "Grandpa..." Before I could end my words, I burst into tears as I cried while hugging Xi Yue. "What happen?" Mother comes into my room. "Uncle Jiang Yun bullies Sister! Grandpa helps us" Xi Yue tried her best to explain but failed because she still trembling in fear. "Jiang Yun lay a hand on your daughter" Mother face turned into white as she falls onto the ground. "Why Jiang Yun cannot let my daughter go!" Mother covered her face with her own hands as I looked at her way. "He nearly killed her one month ago and-" She continues crying.
"Mother...What do you mean by that?" I asked at her with a blank stare. The parts where my memories still blurry is what my mother just mentioned. "Tell me Mother!" I release Xi Yue from my tight embrace as I approached her. "It was my fault that you nearly died and crippled" Mother start telling the stories before she met father. "Back then when your mother still a growing teen, your uncle Jiang Yun and I was once a lover but one day when I saw your father by the market, I fall in love at first sight" I listened and a smile appeared on my lips. "Mom skip those lovey-dovey part...It's embarrassing. Grandpa-" Grandfather Wang Jiang is not there.
"Where did he go?" I looked around and Xi Yue was nowhere to be found. "Xi Yue!" Grandfather always appeared like a ghost. "She's with me all the time" Grandfather was actually very kind but never smile. I regretted how much time I waste on the wrong person while I had so much love from my family.
