A visitor in the night

(THIRD PERSON'S POV)

My eyes opened sharply at once and I was forced to wake up, starring at the ceiling in my dim candle lit room. Someone was knocking on my door. That was very strange considering it was very late at night.

There was no way my step sisters or step mother would come all the way from the main house so late at night and if they did, trust me to say that they would not be knocking.

My eyes darted out of the window and for sure, it was as dark as one could possibly imagine. I stoped myself from swallowing a gulp as another set of knocks came on more loudly this time.

Shakily and still trying my best to not make any sounds at all, i stood up from the bed and wrapped my shawl around me. Then, I reached for the candle stand which was on the side table using it to show the way as I walked to the door. I took in a deep breath and said a silent prayer to the brothers of the packs. With a swift movement, I turned the knob of the door and unlocked it in an instant but there was no one standing there.

I frowned .

I stepped out but no one was there, the hallway was dark and empty. I felt a little bit of fear which I shrugged off and I closed the doors back. But as I turned around, I gasped and froze to the spot staring at the stranger who was seated comfortable on the wooden chair in my room.

"I'm sorry, I did not mean to to scare you, Rhea." She said.

A young woman whom I have never seen in my life was seated in my room and something made me stop myself from screaming.

There was something about her energy that was calming and it had nothing to do with the way she was dressed.

She wore a flowing long white gown which seemed to match her white hair which was left to fall perfectly past her shoulders and looked shiny like it had been perfectly brushed a thousand times. Her skin looked pale but very smooth. She had a soft look on her face as if to match the soft tone of her voice. The soft tone of her voice, which sounded like a perfectly deep toned voice.

Again, there was something about her that made everywhere calm. And it had an effect on me.

"Who are you? What are you doing here?" I asked, my voice barely making it out as a whisper.

The strange beautiful woman gave me a small smile.

She said to me. "I apologize for giving you a fright . Do you mind joining me for a moment so we could talk? There is no reason to be afraid."

And she waved her hands towards the bed which was not far from where she sat.

There was something assuring about her tone but also I have to admit that I may have also been scared too and I guessed it was smarter to do as she said for now.

I walked forward and sat down on the bed. Now I was even closer to this strange woman who seemed to be making me feel less suspicious about her. It was as if getting closer to her made me feel her calm and positive energy even more.

"Who are you please? And what do you want from me? How do you know my name?" I asked her

"Don't be scared, Rhea." She told me again in that assuring and soothing tone of hers.

" I am a sorceress and I have lived alongside the twin packs for a long time now." She said to me.

I panicked.

"Don't panic." She told me with a kind smile. "You shall not be harmed."

"What do you want from me?" I found myself asking her.

I could not imagine why a sorceress would be in my room, except it had to be about…..

As a thought crossed my mind, I looked up to the sorceress who was now giving me a knowing look.

"You know why I am here, Rhea." She said to me looking at me intently in the eyes.

I was not sure of what to say or how to respond to that. I could only think of one thing,

That this could have something to do with the Alpha's proposal.

"I don't know if-" I started saying but the sorceress interrupted my calmly and with a stern tone.

"You know why I am here." She said to me. Then she stared at me directly in the eyes. "You were told about a prophecy, I assume. This is True, everything you were told, is true. Your pack needs you."

"I don't want to marry him." I said to her.

The sorcereress smiled at me and then she nodded.

"You can't be forced to do what you do not want to do." She said to me. "But would you not like to help in saving your people?"

I lowered my gaze to my hands.

"They are not my people. I am different and so they treat me like an outcast." I said to her.

I still avoided her eyes briefly because I felt a flash of pain to think of what the way I was being treated in the pack. The way no one took note of me. Except the young wolves in the orphanage.

"I know that your heart knows a lot of pain." The sorceress voice was sad but still soothing. As if she understood the way I felt about it all.

"It's fine." I said with a smile.

It really is, because I don't hope to spend all my life here. Soon, I will be out of here to start a new life for myself.

"You plan to cut ties with your people." The sorceress said.

At that moment, I felt fear grip my heart. But I stayed strongly seated before her. She was a sorceress, it was not supposed to be so surprising that she could read my thoughts.

"I told you. They are not my people." I said to her

She smiled. "There is so much about yourself that you don't know Rhea. But I am happy to see that you are not far from your strength."

I frowned at her confused. "I'm sorry, what?"

"So, you want to leave your pack. How do you plan on doing that?" She asked me.

Her voice suddenly began to echo and just like that, my eyes fluttered open again. But this time, it was for real.
