Sage and Rose

Sage was running. Rose following behind him. Their tiny legs sinking into the snow. The both of them were twins. Sage was older than Rose. As a result, he was a bit overprotective. You could say he had a sister complex. Rose and Sage had black hair, and the both of them look identical a part from their eyes. Sage had green eyes while rose had red. He sometimes wonders if that is why there names are like that. Anyways, Sage had to get rid of these intrusive thoughts. He had to hurry, after all, Rose was sick! Her body was much weaker than Sage's. Where was he going? Sage wondered that too, after all, he is just a seven year old dispute his maturity. He turned back and looked as Rose, panicking as her breath got heavier. Sage was a calm kid on most days, but when it came to his sister, he just can't keep his composure. He kept running and tripped a few times over the snow. "Maybe I should look for a clinic," he thought, but there is a high chance that the clinic would be closed this late at night, and he does not have the money to pay for treatment either. He can't count on people being on the street, after all, the snow was too deep to leave their homes. Though he doubts they would have helped the both of them even if there was no snow. People are cruel. His eyes scanned the area anyways, there was no harm in trying. That's when he saw a black silhouette leaning on the side of a building.A man was lying on the snow, eyes closed, sleeping. "A fellow homeless" he thought. Maybe he can help. He looked like an adult, "he might have money", he thought. Which that in mind and which Rose being almost dragged by him, he ran as fast as he could. He put Rose next to the man and was about to wake him up. However, before he could even touch him, there was a long, sharp, metal knife aimed at his throat. The knife was filled with green and red gems and was black in color.

For some reason, the knife reminded him of himself and Rose. He didn't have the time to think why, afterall, there were only two things on his mind.

"I'm going to die", he thought, and " that

man is most definitely not a homeless person!"
