He raised his hand to the air. Two fingers cracking with particles of the emerald flames, the space began to pulse, vibrating around him with malevolence.

He smiled darkly. "Influence Activation. Corrupted Clutches."

The command was answered by a force field of green flames erupting around him, shooting out in a vast dome and suspending everyone in mid-air like insects trapped in emerald.

Everyone froze. Not voluntarily, but they were forced to. They struggled, but the pulsing flames only tightened their hold.

Bastopher tilted his head, eyes burning. "You thought you could surprise me? How incredibly foolish. I sensed you the moment you set foot on Darkmount. Now, you will all die here, as your souls fuel the fire of my ascension."

The flames crackled, and he laughed madly as it echoed through the ruined church. But then, his laughter was interrupted by a voice.
