The Queen's Dog

Xin Tuyong is left unemployed and roaming the streets when sudden luck leads him to an opportunity for employment. Unbeknownst to him, he has applied to become an underling of Huan Mao, also known as the Queen of the Underworld. With her fondness of his puppy-like behavior, Xin Tuyong is upgraded from his title as a housekeeper to 'the Queen's dog.' Excerpt: "Business is booming -- it's a professional risk. I won't die until I've married you, so don't worry so much," she laughed. "Then I'll never marry you." "Haha, yeah you will. We're halfway there, don't you think?" He didn't respond. ***Updates 4x/mo***

Baby Boss Du Du Dudu Dudu

Xin Tuyong made sure to have the next day's schedule arranged so he could drink without having to rush anywhere afterwards. As he opened the door to the house, he sent Huan Mao a text to let her know what plans he had for the next day.

He took his shoes off and put the file back in its place in the office, walking down through the living room to get to his own quarters.

His phone buzzed. Huan Mao gave the affirmative.

As he passed behind the couch, a pair of cold hands grabbed his arm, stopping him in his tracks, and a head of sleek dark hair popped up.

"Good work today. I'm sure it went well," Huan Mao smiled as she praised him. She didn't have the energy to sound so cheery.

She pulled him to her and used his shoulders to balance herself to a standing position on the couch where she loomed over him.

Her arms snaked around his neck and her legs wrapped around his waist, forcing him to carry her entire weight while her face nuzzled sleepily into his collar.

Her perfume was faint, but the familiar scent filled the air around her and made his heart beat faster. Her hair glittered prettily down her small back.

She didn't seem so scary when she was vulnerable and trusting like this.

Xin Tuyong shifted her position so she wouldn't slip and carried her with him through the kitchen to grab some food.

He could tell that Yun Bao had just left the kitchen as the scent of freshly washed dishes mixed with the perfume of Huan Mao.

He hurried as he ate a few cold egg rolls with Huan Mao's small form still clinging to him and brought a glass of water to his room. She wasn't necessarily heavy, but her weight was still enough to fatigue his muscles as he staggered unsteadily to his bed.

Her breathing was soft in his ear as she slept over his shoulder, and he gently pried her off of him and into the covers.

Her eyes had harsh dark circles under them as though she hadn't slept in days. Knowing her, that might have been the case.

Despite every chaotic mess she was faced with, she never showed that she was exhausted or hurt. She always kept her cool and smiled like nothing was wrong.

Xin Tuyong admired her ability to control herself so well. It seemed that out of everyone he knew, even friends unrelated to the business, he was the only one who complained or expressed when something was irritating or felt wrong.

Too immature for someone in his line of work. He didn't understand how Huan Mao could tolerate him.

She was stubborn and bossy, but she never had anything negative to say to him. When he did something wrong, she educated rather than punished him.

Di Gaohun was friendly with Xin Tuyong but easy to irritate. When he did something wrong in the presence of Di Gaohun, Xin Tuyong was met with barely concealed snide comments, but still Di Gaohun never mentioned any problems.

They all worked to exhaustion while Xin Tuyong could barely handle the stress of more than one transaction a month.

Xin Tuyong sighed as he washed up for bed. He wanted to work harder.

Initially, he thought that he shouldn't mind the thoughts of others because he was here against his will and risked going to jail if he went against Huan Mao.

But he hadn't been mistreated by Huan Mao and he began to value his team members even though they weren't very close.

He wanted to do better, didn't want to disappoint anyone at all. His life was a lot better here -- there was no reason for him to leave.

Sure, it got stifling sometimes, but it wasn't bad. He was needed. Wanted. Even if it was suspicious, it was a comfort that he craved.

Xin Tuyong slid into the bed, shifting Huan Mao slightly to fit. She curled up against his side like a cat and her small fingers wrapped around the hem of his shirt.

No, he couldn't at all say it was bad here.
