Aglio Olio

<Killigan Northanrey>

I've captured their hearts. I didn't expect it to be that easy, especially that girl. She is no ordinary girl, she isn't strong as well, she's rather.. unique as that Ulysses, the theater's owner and the richest man on Northanrey.

I walk down to a restaurant that I recognized. The name of the restaurant is Aglio Olio, which was a type of pasta back on earth.

"Come! I own this marvelooouuss restaurant. Eat whatever you like." Ulysses say. The girl behind me is still looking at me weirdly. I walked confidently while still acting, blushing.

I sit down at the outdoor venue side of the restaurant. The waiter comes, greets us, and gives us the menu.

I look at the menu and I recognize half of the food. It's mostly Italian food but some are France, like croissant and french fries.

I ordered the restaurant's signature, the fettuccini aglio olio. While waiting for the food to come, Ulysses engaged me in a conversation.

"What's your name.. boy?" Ulysses say.

I opened my scarf, "Northanrey, Killigan Northanrey. The heir for the 6th generation."

Ulysses was shocked his pupil diluted and the girl was as well surprised. What kind of child exposes their own father's recidivism and furthermore won't said child benefit the most especially when his father passed the throne to him.

And for why I chose to reveal my identity. Well, again, I want trust.. and a little bit of reputation. If I can set a good image to the wealthiest man in Northanrey, from him I can establish much more significant connections.

Why do I trust them now rather than previous times? I was worried if they're hostile to me, that's why I brought Tessa with me in the first place. If one of them somehow got away they won't know my identity since I haven't revealed it yet.

Even now, I can feel Tessa's familiar gaze on me. I don't where is she or what she's doing, but I trust her to watch over me and to hold me back when I'm too close to killing them.

"Interestiiingg.. You waaant to takeoveeer the throne from your fathheeer." He say. "You want to me to allooow you to usee my theater to conveeeey the message to thheee audienceee, and especiallyyy tommoorrrow when P. T. Barnum is performing."

"Precisely that." I say.

"Hmmm.. I supposseee I can allowww that, but in oneee conditiiooon," He lifted his index finger, "that the Northanreey will alleviate all the theater's taxxesss acccummulated." He strikes a deal.

"Oho? Do you know how much that is. Well, I suppose you know since you're the one striking the deal. Hmm..." I put on my scarf back, "Fine.. but only the land taxes, not the electricity bills, nor the water bills. Oh! and I want the theater's maintenance to be hired directly from the household."

"Hmm... That caaann't doo, the theater's maintenance is handleeeed by my own agency." He say.

"Then, give that agency to me." He lifted one of his eyebrows. "With all due respect sir, the theater's land tax alone can feed 100 commoners for one year. So that deal alone is already much beneficial to you.. and to me.

But with you giving the agency to me I can guarantee you sir that the agency will expand to further beyond, imagine seeing your agency in house complexes, helping the unfortunate, spreading branches by letting people buy "franchises" of this agency.

By giving me your agency, allows the homeless and the unemployed to have a chance to prove themself worthy of a significant role to the empire."

As you observe I give out simple allegories like, "the tax alone can feed 100 commoners for one year." or "the agency will allow the homeless and the unemployed to have a chance." This is all simple, modern business tactic to move the opponent's heart.

Fortunately, this tactic is fairly unknown to this era's business knowledge, as I've read all business tactics in business books that this era has to offer.

And as expected, the tactic works, "Hmm.. 100 commoners huh? *sigh* Killiiigann... You havee madee yourself a deall." I smiled under the scarf which was noticed by the girl because of the slight muscle movement that my face did. "but I must inquire, what is this "franchise" youuuuu're talking about.

Buying franchises out of a business is one of the yet uninvented business method. The word franchise haven't even existed in this world, that is until today.

"Franchise is a method that I have personally invented. A franchise or franchising, is a method of distributing products or services involving a franchisor, who establishes the brand's trademark and a business system, and a franchisee, who pays a royalty and often an initial fee for the right to do business under the franchisor's name and system." I explain. Ulysses half understood but his face expression says that he is very surprised.

"How haven't anyone thoooought of such briilliiant techniquee!" He stood up and shouts, catching every customer's attention.

He sits down calmed down his posture. His face speaks of excitement. The dagger girl, sitting right across me was confused. She didn't catch a single word that spilled from my mouth. She sits and quietly enjoys her pasta.

"So should I made a contract for the transferring of the agency?" I say.

"Oh! No need. Contracts noooow a days always fools me." He say.

"Hmm.. Is that so, I suggest reading the terms of agreement twice before signing it.. Now. Let's eat Mr. Uly-" I say before Ulysses interupts.

"No! Doo nott call me Mr. Pleasseee call me Ulysses or Uly." He say.

"I see.. Well, we shall now eat to our heart's content then, Ulysses."

This conversation marks a history, one which will be recorded and taught amongst schools in the future. Every children will soon come to know of the legendary figure called Killigan Northanrey.
