chapter 62: Witnessing the Twins

Kirito's pov

I watched Lily and Arthur as they released their arrows in perfect synchronization, hitting the bullseye with precision. The skill of their archery was nothing short of masterful, and I felt my chest tighten with envy. It seemed that their natural talent had shown through in the rigorous practice that they had done every morning in the Heaven's Guerrillas training room and the forest. They had progressed rapidly in just the few short weeks that I had known them, and here I was stuck with my mediocre performance. I was starting to feel severely inferior to the twins, and found myself wondering what I could do to make up the difference.

It was awe-inspiring watching the twins aim and strike their targets with the precision of a hawk.

Arthur was shooting one arrow after the other with deadly precision, while Lily seemed to control the power of the bow effortlessly. I glanced at Gilbert who was standing by my side and I could tell he was thinking the same thing as me. Just a couple of months ago, we were both part of the dark king's tyrannical army, doomed to submit to his oppressive powers.

"Did you hear?"Gilbert asked me, snapping me out of my gaze. I could practically see the eagerness gleaming in his eyes, knowing that whatever he was about to say would be out of the ordinary.

"Hear what?," I asked him, curiosity piquing.

"I heard she had tamed the Dark King's son, Malachai," Gilbert said, almost awe-struck, while I was left utterly surprised.

"Lily did that? But- how? That seems nearly impossible," I said, disbelief slowly starting to creep in as I was in complete shock that Lily was able to do something that we had all deemed as impossible.

"I don't know how she did it, but she did!" Gilbert replied, scratching his chin thoughtfully.

"To think someone like her had conquered the heart of the cruel and unforgiving king's own heir," I said in a marveling yet cautious manner, feeling intrigued at her remarkable accomplishment yet also anxious for her safety.

'That is truly remarkable,' Gilbert agreed, equally stunned. 'Lily sure deserves a round of applause for this daring feat!' he proclaimed, clapping his hands together in admiration and causing me to smile in spite of my worry.

"That's crazy-amazing," I said, barely able to comprehend the gravity of the situation. "It'll take a miracle to defeat something that powerful."

"It's like a brave lioness taming a ferocious beast, a daunting task that she alone managed to accomplish successfully." Gilbert said with awe.

I shook my head in amazement, unable to believe the events that had unfolded.

This was something deep. Every time I thought of Lily taming the dark prince, Malachai, I felt my heart swell with admiration.

"The tenacity she must have had to manage such a feat was astounding and the fact that she could love him as well was miraculous."

'Indeed it is' I said, still in disbelief. 'No one has ever been able to do something like that before. Her courage and willpower is astonishing,' I added, awe-struck by her remarkable success.

'I'm worried for Malachai if Lily's love turns sour,' Gilbert continued worriedly, all the while playing with his favorite spider. 'She's like a black widow spider --she'll consume her own partner if he breaks her heart.'

The mere thought of it horrified me. It was terrifying how the shortest distance between two points could be so filled with despair. I let out a sigh, still marveling at Lily's bravery to even attempt such a feat.

"If I was Malachai, I'd be careful," Gilbert warned with a hint of seriousness. "Lily's a passionate woman, and she's got a fiery spirit. If her love turns to ashes, she won't think twice about incinerating her victim." He shivered at the horrific thought.

My heart was full of admiration and admiration for Lily. I could only wish for such fierceness and commitment in my own life.

"Shouldn't we be practicing, too?"Gilbert said, looking to where the training dummies were for swordmanship. They were surrounded by straw, and many were already cut through from previous training. I could hear the whoosh of swords being swung as people practiced their combat.

But it was the arrows shooting with eerily calm speed that really drew my attention. Lily and Arthur were aiming at moving targets--wooden figures in the shapes of men--which moved erratically around the room. With each shot, a wooden figure would crumble to the ground. I watched as they laughed and cheered, yet stayed focused as they continued to practice their archery.

Gilbert and I could only admire our fellow comrades' skill, as we briskly paced around the training room. We tried to use adverbs and one metaphor to describe the situation, but ultimately ended our session with admiration and sincere respect for their archery.

"Well done, you two! You have grown into extraordinary archers, far surpassing my expectations!" I exclaimed with an inexplicable joy as we made our way out of the training room.

At that moment, Gilbert appeared from behind the tree-line, his eyes still wide in awe. "That was amazing!" he gasped in amazement, finally understanding why she had managed to tame the dark king's son, Malachai. "No one has ever made such a remarkable accomplishment."

Lily and Arthur gave each other a proud look, since All their hard work had finally paid off.

As I stared out into the horizon, I felt a chill run down my spine. Little did I know, something ominous was lurking in the shadows, getting ready to take over the world. I could feel it in the air, something dark and sinister that was quickly approaching. I wasn't sure what it was, but I knew it wasn't going to be good.

The sky slowly began to darken as the eerie presence grew stronger and stronger. Even though I was miles away, I could feel its power. I started to become more and more uneasy as I watched the distant sky. I could tell that something dangerous was coming my way.
