Chapter Ten: Earth, The Wasteland

Kara and Gabriel appear in the exact same spot that Margaret's kitchen once stood. It had been far too long since Kara had last laid her eyes upon it. And even Now, he found herself not getting the chance. Where once stood Margerat's home, now layed an open wasteland.

There were buildings far in the distance but for the most part, everything had been completely leveled. " This can't be good" Kara says to Gabriel who nods. The entire town of Featherstone was completely gone. And the wasteland stretched for miles. There was no sign of anyone for miles and that concerned them both. But then, Gabriel caught onto a familiar scent in the air. " Lystette? She is here? " he could track her scent which meant she was realitively close to their location and seemed to point a war torn city in the distance. " She seems to be here. Now how or why? I don't know. But we need to find out. Maybe she knows what is going on" Gabriel explained.

" And maybe she knows where Margerat is.." Kara had missed her terribly. She was fully expecting to come back and be able to reunite with her but now, that seemed like a distant dream. " Do you think the Vampires did this? " Kara asked. " Something did it and we are going to find out what it is" Gabriel answers as he shifts into wolf form and Kara leaps onto his back. " Just like the old days, aye? " Kara smiled, Gripping onto his fur. "Damn right " Gabriel howls as he takes off towards the city. Hoping to find and stop the Vampires at whatever cost.

As they traversed the wasteland, Kara found herself thinking back to her first journey with Gabriel. Riding on his back through the snow covered grounds. The cold breeze crashing against her face and yet feeling a sense of adventure. She felt excited at the time. She was alot more troubled back then but she also had alot less put on her than she thought she did. Now, she would give anything to go back to those days. And redo alot of the mistakes that she had made on the past. She would have told Gabriel how she felt from beginning. She would have made it clear. And she would have fought for him alot more than she did in the past. She would have done so many things differently if she could. But, those decisions did lead them together in the end. And that made her happy. They could finally do all the things they had wanted to do together for so long. She had finally won. She had beaten the odds and got Gabriel in the end. And that was something to be proud of. Jack, Victoria, Pierce, Santara, Gwen, Shawn's sisters, none of them could stand in her way. None of them could stop their love and their will to fight for one another. They may have suffered many defeats, but they would always keep getting right back up and keep fighting. Though, that did feel strange to her.

" Hey Babe" Kara called out, As Gabriel ran, he looked back quickly and said " Yeah? "

" When we fought against Gwen's gather. The whole glow thing happened again..but..it felt different didn't it? " She had noticed that whilst it felt strong, it didn't feel as strong.

" Yeah..I noticed that too. It didn't feel as strong. I was gonna bring it up to you so I'm glad you said something. But I'm sure there is an explanation for it " Gabriel assured her. But she didn't want assurance. She wanted answers.

When United, they were suppose to feel stronger. Together, they should be unstoppable. But that wasn't the case last time. It was almost like the bond was fading for some reason.

" You love me, right Gabriel? " Kara asked, needing to double check even though deep down that he did.

" Of course I do. You love me too right? " he questioned to which she replied " More than anything".

" If we love one another. Then why the hell didn't it work like last time?" Kara Thought to herself. None of it made any sense whatsoever.

Before they knew it, they had finally reached the city though the streets were abandoned and the power was completely shut down for the entire city. Cars looked abandoned and buildings had been clawed up and were missing giant chunks from them.

Gabriel followed Lysettes scent to a small convience store where they both entered, Gabriel having shifted into his human form, and were greeted with Guns in their face.

" Who the Hell are you?" A large man asked as Gabriel took the gun from him and crushed it before tossing it aside.

" Step aside, that is my nephew" Lysette called out from the back of the store. " Lysette?" Gabriel called out to his Aunt who finally reached the front of the store where she hugged Gabriel tightly.

" I'm sorry I left on such short notice. I had to find Cassie and then when I got here..well..you saw. Everything has went to shit real fast " Lysette answered as she walked over and hugged Kara as well.

" Have you seen Margaret? The woman I was placed with here on earth " Kara asked, not getting her hopes up.

"Not that I'm aware of" Lysette answered as another man spoke up. This one, seeming to be slightly younger than Kara and Gabriel but holding a gun nonetheless. " I know where she is. I can take you too her" The young man said, shaking and keeping a tight grip on his gun. " Michael? You know it's too dangerous to be heading out there" Lysette called back to the young man.

" Well I mean, we all have to die someday" Michael tried to smirk but his nerves kept him from doing so. It wasn't so much that he wanted to help as he wanted to get away from this town. He had never liked it here since he was a kid but never found the confidence to do so. " Well if you really think you can get them to it..then I guess you guys can give it a shot. Gabriel and Kara are more than capable of helping defend if need be" Lysette informed the group as Gabriel took her hand. " You aren't going to come with us? " Gabriel asked. " I can't..these people need me here. I couldn't save our own people but I'll damn sure try to save these people" She explained. Gabriel could understand that, and nodded. He had truly hope to get the chance to see his Aunt again someday but something told him, that he wouldn't.

Gabriel led Michael outside and shifted again into his wolf form.

Michael jumped back from fear to Kara. " Oh don't be scared. He doesn't bite...that much " Kara laughed as she hopped onto Gabriel's back and extended her hand down for Michael to grab onto. After debating it, Michael took her hand and they ventured off towards the city
