Chapter Fourteen: The Playmate

Gabriel found himself not wanting to stay in bed either and thought it best to go for a walk. He made his way out of the room, and found himself walking down the secured streets of the city. He wondered where the Vampires were. And how close they were to them. That was, if Kara could figure herself out. She needed to determine where she stood because the bond seemed to be showing that she did not stand with him. This angered Gabriel. " I swear...if this was all for nothing. Everything we have worked for. Everything we have been through together. Everything we have lost.." Gabriel said to himself as he noticed something out of the corner of his eye.

" Hey.." a voice called to him from a dark alley way. He knew he recognized the voice but he found himself being lost as to the identity. " Who is there? " Gabriel called to the dark alley way and the mysterious voice.

" Come here " the voice invited and for some reason, Gabriel found himself moving, almost without being in control of himself. He walked through the alleyway, not being able to locate the source of the voice. His eyes finally adjusted and he saw one singular door at the end of the alley. He was hesitant at first to enter the door, not being sure what to expect on the other side. It could be a trap, but if it was Vampires, he would need to know for certain how much danger the city was in. As he pondered what to do, the door cracked open and Gabriel became overpowered by a scent. It was strong but it was alluring. It was something unlike anything Gabriel had really ever smelt before and yet it was familiar. He walked towards the door, opening it, and being greeted with an even stronger, more alluring scent, he entered and closed the door behind him.

The Room he had entered was rather small, and seemed to be an old apartment of sorts. The furniture had mostly been stripped out of the entire place, but the lights at least worked. Gabriel saw Noone around whatsoever but he couldn't escape the scent.

" Hello? " Gabriel called out, looking around for any signs of movement. Eventually, a figure appeared from behind a wall. Gabriel looked over the person, determining it to be a female Lycan with Firey colored hair.

" Hello Gabriel" the girl called to him.

" I know you.." Gabriel said in an unsteady tone which made the girl laugh. It was then that Gabriel noticed the girl was holding a few giant bottles of Alcohol.

" You probably don't remember me. I'm Cassie. I was one of your suitors back in the Underworld. Or at least I use to be " Cassie laughed as she placed the bottles down on a cheaply made table. " Why did you call me here? " Gabriel said, unsure of her motivations. He did remember her faintly. And it was nice to see another of his kind.

" Well, I never really got the proper chance to meet you. I was always off hunting and I saw ya in town and I wanted to introduce myself " Cassie confessed as she picked up a bottle and popped off the top and began drinking.

" What are you doing on earth? " Gabriel asked as he walked over and grabbed a bottle off the table and then backed away from her. His caution made her laugh.

" Well..I am here because in case you hadn't noticed..our home kind of got fucked up. There is nothing left for Lycans. So I came here and found out the Vampires had taken over here too. But ya know, nowhere else to go" Cassie laughed as she took another long drink from the bottle.

" Yeah.. we are trying to fix that " Gabriel answered as he popped off the top of his own bottle and drank from it.

" We? " Cassie inquired as she put her bottle on the table.

" Me and Kara..my mate " Gabriel answered which made Cassie look away, down at her legs and then back to the bottle.

" Oh..well..how is that going? " Cassie asked, tapping her fingers on the table.

" Well we are going to start tomorrow. We are going to look for the Vampires and try to explain to them that there is a new Queen. Gwen took the throne from her father " Gabriel answered and drank again.

" Gwen? The princess chick? God I never liked the Vampire royal family..or any vampire for that matter. They are all fucking monsters " Cassie growled. " But..I was talking about you and Kara..how is the mate thing working out? " She asked, grabbing the bottle again and drinking from it, but not taking her eyes off of Gabriel.

" We are doing fine. We are strong" Gabriel lied, not wanting to reveal that kind of information to someone he barely knew despite her being one of his own.

Cassie laughs more and nods and she swallow's the alcohol. " Yeah well I was asking because that whole scent thing that drew you in. That's because I'm in heat" Cassie explained which made Gabriel's heart sink. " And ya know, you wouldn't have been drawn in so easily if the mating process had been done properly" Cassie smirked, looking Gabriel up and down.

" Is that why you did this? To prove a fucking point? " Gabriel growled, sitting his own bottle on the table. " No, I can't help that I'm in heat. All I'm saying is, either you are in denial, or something is on the up and up. And that might be something you are interested in knowing " Cassie stands up and walks up to Gabriel, staring up into his huge golden eyes as she takes the bottle from him. " You know damn good and well Witches and Lycans don't mix." Cassie smirks again as she brings the bottle to her lips. " Yeah well things can fucking change " Gabriel eyes were piercing through Cassie's though she didn't seem bothered by his gaze whatsoever.

" No, they can't. Lycans are meant for Lycans. Vampires are meant for Vampires and witches are meant for witches. And the more we breed outside of our own kind..the more complicated things are going to get. I'm not sure for others but for us, it makes our pups weaker. It makes our people weaker. Now mind you, I don't really give a fuck about it anymore. And you can do what you want. But what I can tell you, is that your little playmate, is not being entirely truthful with you. And on top of that, our people are dead. And I'll be honest, when I first heard you had taken a mate, I didn't care so much. I mean, it's none of my business. But then, I saw you and Kara together. Walking through the town and something felt off. You two don't even make any sense. And you know it..don't you? " Cassie's line of questioning was beginning to frustrate Gabriel, who snatches the bottle from her and drinks from it himself.

" Yoooou doooo. You can sense it. Your instincts tell you something is wrong. You know that something is right..." Cassie pushes the bottle away from Gabriel's lips. " And that is why you are here. You know what feels right and what you want. Don't you? " Cassie smirks as she leans forward, slowly pressing her lips against Gabriel's who at first, was straggling to fight against it. The urge to take her. The urge to ravage her. He closes his eyes and shoves her away from, and wipes his lips clean. " You don't know anything dammit..how dare you " Gabriel Growls which leaves Cassie's chuckling, heading over to the table and picking up her original bottle as Gabriel turns and opens the door, leaving the room.

" Whether it's not or late, Gabriel, you are going to see what I'm talking about. And you'll want it. And you'll see that your mate isn't really all she says she is.." Cassie stares into the bottle, looking over its contents before drinking again.
