Chapter Sixty Five: The Cautious Arrival

As they arrived at the Kingdom, they took notice that the aura of ominous was ever present But that nothing had changed otherwise. Perhaps Ember was correct on her ever so crude declaration beforehand, perhaps they had everything handled. " Well it certainly doesn't look like it's in distress" Raven pointed out as they floated above the city. Penny leaned forward above the mist and tried her best through squinting her eyes, to notice any finite details that would imply a danger was among them. Though, she saw nothing of the sort after several minutes.

" I told you, the threat is gone" Ember scoffed as they continued to float above and around the city. " Still don't know how you could possibly know that.." Penny's words seem to go completely ignored however as Ember had nothing to say to her.

" At some point, you are going to have to tell the truth" Penny continued poking at Ember to spark a conversation but Ember continued, to want nothing to do with it.

"And I am not going to repeat myself any more than I already have" Ember barked back.

" Okay..so let's say you really don't know how you know. And let's say you don't have any memory of what happened in the abyss. Are you not at least curious about the fact that you were surrounded by flames like a Witch? I mean.." Penny turned back to Ember " Is that at least concerning to you? "

Ember seemed to pause for a moment to think over the question. She knew that Penny would continue to pester her unless she played into it a little for her sake, though, she truly within, had no interest in learning any more of the truth than she already knew.

" I don't know how that happened but at the same time, there are more important things we have to deal with. If, I am..a witch..or whatever, that was knowledge never presented to me and if anything, if I truly am one, then I fail to see how that wouldn't benefit us. Another Witch would ya know..eliminate the weak link.." Ember scowls at Penny who seemed bothered by the accusation. Penny had never said that Ember was a weak link and she could not figure out where that delusion came from. It made no sense whatsoever.

" I think we should probably just go down and check out things a bit closer" Raven interupts as the mist begins to lower to the ground ever so gently.

Once they had all planted their feet upon the rather cold and dark cobblestone Street, the mist seemed to fade into nothingness.

" You are not going to be welcomed here..how are you going to hide yourself? " Penny turned to Raven who was twirling her hand obove her body which seemed to call forth a thick dark liquid of some sort to rise from beneath her feet and coat her body completely.

" What the hell is going on" Penny looked on in shock and horror at the possibility of a threat to her mother. But before long, the liquid diasapated and before their eyes, stood a new woman. She resembled a common peasant, with no distinguishing features. " ..Mom? " Penny called out to the woman who smiled and nodded.

" This is a disguise that should allow me to walk around unnoticed for the most part. But I won't be going into the castle should our search lead us there. Aurora would be able to smell out the real me instantly" Penny looked on, impressed as she circled around her mother to take in all of the finite details of the disguise. " This is impressive..you have to show me how to do this sometime" Penny squealed excited to which Raven nodded.

But that is when, they noticed that during this transformation, Ember had completely vanished. " Do you think she went to look on her own? " Penny questioned.

" Well she seems bothered by our exisistence so I would assume that she probably wanted to be alone on her search" Raven explained as she continued to look around for Ember by darting her eyes around the immediate area.

" Which I guess we shouldn't be worried about considering we know that she can handle herself" She added.

" Yeah..I'm still worried though" Penny sighed as they began their search.
