Chapter One Hundred Fourteen: The Watcher

Keera and Penny make their way out into the city, trying to clear their heads the best they can. Keera spent the time in silence, looking over the city, and seeing that the people had gone through many struggles. It was quite different than the Vampire Kingdom. People seemed so kind to one another and yet, mistrusting of outsiders. The mistrust was completely justified considering how they had been treated. But she also found herself saddened, having known the Lycan's history.

A proud, strong people, and some of the most self sufficient within the Underworld. They did not rely on magic for their food preparations and they communicated well with one another. They were all fierce warriors at one time, brought together by a common goal, to be something even more strong.

At one time, the Lucans had been divided into 4 tribes. The Greytooth, the Blackclaw, the Silverblood, and the Firefurs. These names were chosen based on the signifying features of each of the leaders. And these leaders ruled for hundreds of years, for the most part, keeping peace between them.

However as time went on it became clear the areas in which they had divided to hunt had become blurred lines. As more and more young and eager Lycans came into the ranks, more and more boundaries were being crossed and that would lead to a meeting in which all of the tribes would meet. From that meeting, came the idea for a single leader rather than one. Someone that could be impartial on all sides. But more importantly, by fusing the tribes together, there would no longer be boundaries and they would instead be able to work together.

This decision did not come without tension however, many of the young wanted still wanted the chance to be alphas. Hunters, leaders of the packs..being free and being able to do as they please without answering to anyone except their elder. Though offered jobs for the Lycan warrior Guards, they would not be satisfied. And that, lead to a rather small but still horrendous battle between those who opposed the new life and those who were supportive of it.

The rebels would eventually be casted out of the Kindom and left to fend for themselves, and the Kingdom would continue to function as normal.

This was far different in the Vampire and Witch Kingdom. There had always been monarchy from what Keera could remember and it did not seem as though it would change anytime soon. However for the most part the monarchy seem to work pretty well in the other kingdoms. There had been very little revolts and if there were any serious threats they had been squashed rather quickly. If anything, The threat came from the other kingdoms. The ever looming possibility that someday everything could be lost to another kingdom due to Greed. Something that the witch is almost seemed to possess far more than the vampires up until recently. And this was a fact that had cost Penny's mother her life..or at least she thought so.

" So you are like..what..a guard now or something? " Penny nudged Keera's arm to snap her back into reality. " I..um..yeah..I guess..if that's what you want me to be? " Keera smiled.

" You don't have to stick with us..if you don't want too. We are fine..I mean sure it would be nice to have help saving the world. But, I don't want to force you.." Penny was trying to make sure that Keera didn't feel obligated because there had been times where she felt guilty for Bringing Ember into all of this.

" I can assure you that I have nowhere else to go. And I don't really have anywhere else that I would rather be" Keera smiled again, trying to cease any doubts that Penny may have.

" If you want to stick around that I'm completely fine with it. But you don't have to be my guard or anything like that. I'm more than capable of fighting, As you have now seen" Penny raised her arms up to stretch as Keera glanced over briefly, making eye contact with Penny.

" What? " Penny questioned, noticing the weird expression on Keeras face. It looked as though she had been struck by some form of lightning mixed with the satisfied look of having a perfectly heated chocolate in her mouth. Where it would melt in your mouth the moment it rested on your tongue.

" Its nothing " Keera assured as she turned back to face the direction they were walking and hoped that Penny would simply end this conversation.

" Alright.." Penny sighed as they continued making their way down the street.

From afar, in a crowd full of Lycans, Ember looked on from a distance. She wasn't sure why she wasn't approaching Penny. She didn't fear the witch..and yet..she was almost paralyzed. Seeing her friend, seeing the girl who had completely caused nothing but chaos in her life and yet changed it forever for the better was only a few feet away. But she was with..someone..someone that made Embers blood boil.

" Penny.." Ember muttered to herself as the two walked right past her, making their way further down the street. Ember followed behind them, never taking her eyes off of them. If Keera made any moves against Penny, Ember wasn't sure what she would do but she knew it would be violent.

As she followed behind, Ember took notice that Keera kept glancing over to Penny. This made her mind race with the possibilities. " Is this girl and Penny..a thing? Is this girl just helping her?" Hundreds of questions raced through her mind before it became unbearable.

Ember rushed forward out of the crowd and grabbed Penny's shoulder and pushed her behind herself, glaring down Keera who turned and was surprised to see Ember. " Who are you? " keera questioned as she took a defensive stance, ready to fight for Penny, fearing this woman could bring her harm.

" Stay away from Penny! " Ember growled, her firey eyes almost burning the soul of Keera from within.

" Ember? What are you doing here? " Penny questioned as she steadied herself from being swung so abruptly.

" I am always Watchung Penny.." Ember continued to stare down Keera.

" Well Keera is fine. She is helping us. There isn't anything going on.." Penny What's confused as to why Ember even cared to begin with.

" I don't care. I don't trust her. And she needs to leave " Ember ordered which made Penny grab Embers shoulder to spin her around and with her own firm tone Saif " Stop it! This is ridiculous. Keera Is helping us. I don't know what part of that you don't understand but she is on our side" Penng explained though Ember wanted to hear none of it.

" Like I said I don't care who she is. I want her gone. I don't want her anywhere near you. I don't trust her and I feel like she's going to bring you harm" Ember explained.

" Is it that you feel like she's gonna bring me harm or is it more so that you're jealous?" Penny Was growing more agitated by the second at Embers unwillingness to listen.

" I'm not jealous, I'm just telling you that I don't trust her. She is going to end up screwing you over which is going to screw our plans completely. And I don't know if it's that you don't want to see it or it's that you don't care. But I do care and I'm not going to let anything stand in the way of us or the plan" Ember hissed.

Penny tilted her head to the side, confused. " There is an us?"

It was as though Ember hadn't completely thought through what she was saying and only realized after Penny had pointed it out that she knew she needed to defend herself but stumbled over her words.

" No..I mean..yes..the friendship is..I dont - before Ember could finish, Penny sighed and turned to Keera, approached her and took her hand before walking off.

Ember Watch them both walk away again unable to move. She had completely stumbled over her words and made a complete fool of herself in front of Penny. She had never been jealous before so she wasn't exactly sure if that's what was going on or not. But it was a possibility that Penny was right. Something that Ember would need to sort out before making a second approach.
