Fear drives Passion

A buzzing noise woke up Selene and Ben, who were in a deep sleep from the previous night's activities. It had been almost a week since they had gotten back together and yet, every night they had been together, everything felt like the first time.

The buzzing stopped and then started up again. "You better answer that," yawned Selene and turned her back to him.

"I know, but it's too early and I'd much rather do this," Ben said, turning over to pull Selene into his arms. He started kissing her shoulder blades through her shirt. The noise stopped again, but once more it returned.

"Ugh, ok, fine," sighed Ben as he turned to the nightstand and picked up his phone. Answering it he said, "It better be good, Johnny."

"Good morning to you too, sunshine. And it's not good. But it's damn important…," Johnny started saying but he was cut off by Ben who said, "Hold on, let me go to the living room."

Ben turned to Selene to smile and indicate he was going to take the call where he just said. She whispered, "It's ok. I'll take a shower now." He nodded and headed out to the living room.

Once there, Ben asked curtly, "What happened?"

Johnny quickly replied, "We finally confirmed the pictures were sent to Victor Drakos himself."

There was an intake of air as Ben bit out, "It took 11 days for those geniuses to finally track everything? What are we paying them for goddammit? We suspected it was him from the beginning. It should not have taken this long to confirm."

"I know," sighed Johnny. "As I've told you every day until right now, Drakos's people are just as good as ours. They've been working around the clock on this, man, so let's focus instead on the more crucial point, which is the fact that Drakos did not do anything with the information he had all this time. None of our people have seen him approach Sapphire or anyone around her. Nor any of his known associates."

That got Ben's attention even more. "That's true. We've already planned out the countermeasures to his possible next steps, but I didn't count on him waiting this long. What would he be planning that would require waiting? That's the question we need to answer."

"Question #2 is, what about Olivia?," offered Johnny.

There was a silence and then Ben said, "Meet me in my office at 8. I'm going to call Garcia at NuTek Gaming on my drive to see if she can meet while I'm driving otherwise, I'll have to reschedule the meeting with her since this has come up. Ugh, I've already rescheduled this twice. She's going to be pissed."

"Why don't you just tell her the alternate is meeting with Julio?," Johnny suggested.

Ben said, "Huh. That's not a bad idea. I need to delegate more to the VPs. I'll go with that."

"Ok, I'll see you at 8. Bye," Johnny said before turning his phone off.

Ben paced around the living room a few times, rubbing his chin, and running his fingers through his hair. Then he decided there was no use getting frustrated now, so he went back to the bedroom. Selene was still in the shower. He was tempted to join her but knew there was no time. The situation with Drakos was more important, especially since it involved her.

Instead, Ben went into the bathroom to brush his teeth. Seeing Selene in the shower was a mistake though because he was tempted again. Once more, he resisted. When he was done brushing his teeth, Ben went back to the bedroom to pick out his clothes for the day.

For a moment, Ben wondered if he should just tell Selene everything. He had this conversation with himself every day, but he just didn't know what the right call was. He was used to being decisive and yet with this, he wasn't sure. She deserved to know. That was certain. Until now, the reason he had not told her was because if she knew, it would put her life in danger. But now that Victor knew about her, then her life was already in danger. All he wanted to do was protect her. That's all he ever wanted to do. When he thought of her hurt or worse, it just tore at his soul.

Ben was startled out of his thoughts by Selene coming into the bedroom with her robe on. She said, "Are you okay, honey?" He didn't realize he had been sitting on the bed all that time, just thinking.

"I'm fine, baby. Just lost in thoughts," he responded, pulling her between his legs. He wrapped his arms around her waist and leaned his head on her stomach.

She put her arms around his shoulders and teased, "About me I hope."

"Always about you," he said and lifted his head up to look at her. She leaned down and kissed him.

Then she smiled and said, "Too bad we have to go to work today."

"You have no idea," Ben said.

"I think I have some idea," she whispered back. "I could always help you in the shower, real quick." Selene undid her robe and parted it a little.

"I have a meeting at 8, but, damn baby, I have no control when it comes to you," he said, standing up and pulling her in for a hard kiss.

Selene didn't know what hit her. Ben had never kissed her like that. It was almost desperate in its need, as if it was the last time he was going to see her. He didn't tease her or gently seduce moans out of her. This was a taking like she had never felt before and it excited her. She felt his tongue plunge inside her mouth, sucking on her tongue, licking around it, and generally licking every part like he had a hunger that could not be satiated.

When he finally came up for air, he quickly laid her down on the bed, falling on top of her. He started kissing her neck as his hand went down to caress the area between her legs. He sat up, quickly undressed, and then laid back down on top of her. When Selene felt him go inside her with a powerful thrust, she let out a loud moan that matched Ben's. He was already so hard, and with his size, it was hard to keep herself from coming when he started pounding right away. Not that I mind, because that was amazing. I mean, *really* amazing. Like I still can't feel my toes amazing." One side of her mouth pulled up and she gave him a sly look as her eyes sparkled.

Ben kissed her again and, while he was kissing her, he smiled. He said, "Oh, you want another go do you?"

She put her hands up and said, "I don't know if I could handle another one right now, my God!" They both laughed.

He pulled her into an embrace and said, "I don't know, I just wanted to be close to you. I don't want to let you go today. How about you blow off your class and come with me to work?"

"That's sweet. I wish I could, but you know I can't do that. It's getting to be the end of the semester. There are only three weeks left. The students would freak out. Plus, I have an important meeting later this afternoon, so…you see, I'm a very busy and important person," Selene replied, giving a mock hoity toity look.

Ben smiled and said, "Oh I know how important you are. Sometimes I hate sharing you with the world, but alas the world needs someone with your talents, my love." He tapped her nose with his finger, and she smiled. He sighed and continued, "Then I guess it's time for me to take a shower."

After they got ready for the day, Ben and Selene ate a quick breakfast. Selene was dropped off at the university just in time for her morning class, and Ben was driven to his office, a little late for his meeting. He had managed to make the morning seem normal and Selene was none the wiser about what transpired during his phone call. If she had been, perhaps she would not have taken the meeting that was scheduled for later that afternoon.
