Chapter 13 - Sedvie's Ambush

"What do you mean by attacked the castle?" Bryan asked.

Serefina had an idea about who Sedvie was. An evil witch. But how did she knew that?

"Your Highness, she calls for you or she'll destroy the kingdom!" the guard explained.

"Then I'll go," said Bryan and rushed through the corridor. But Serefina caught up with him, blocking the way.

"What is happening? Why is Sedvie attacking your kingdom so suddenly? And why does she wanna see you?" she couldn't help but ask.

"Serefina, I really want to explain you everything but it's not the correct time," Bryan said.

"Huh? What do you mean by not the correct time? I know you're hiding something from me."

"Serefina, remember what I said to you? Don't ask me anything about yourself. I can't help it. I am not supposed to tell you!"

The ground trembled. An earthquake?

"I have to go."

"Then let me help you-"

"No. It's dangerous. And I don't want anything to happen to you. Stay with Critty. She'll take you to safety." Serefina nodded. He started to run again when Setefina stepped aside.

"C'mon Sefi Sefi! Let's go! I'll take you to a safe place," said Critty

"Hey, Bryan!" Serefina called.

Bryan stopped midsteps.

"Be Careful," she said.

"I will," Bryan said and disappeared-teleported from the next corridor.

"Where are we going, Critty?" Serefina said trying to catch up with the tiny fairy flying in full speed.

"Just follow me, I know a very safe place in the palace!" Critty said.

Serefina could only think about what was going on with Bryan and Sedvie. But she couldn't help...

Critty took a right turn and Serefina glanced down to see a dimly lightend staircase. Fire goblets on both the sides.

Serefina gulped. "Don't tell me we are going down there."

"This is the safest place. A barrier is created here. Only people close to the royal family are capable of going inside," Critty said and flew down.

Serefina followed, clutching Bryan's coat tight. She had forgotten to give it back back to him. But still, the coat made her feel safe for the mean time.

They went down and down and down. Until Serefina saw the end. It wasn't a dungeon that she assumed but it was...

"A waterfall?" Serefina's eyes scanned the whole place. They were in the middle of a forest! A waterfall flowing down the mountain in front of them.

"It's artificial," Critty said.

"But it looks so real."

"Yeah, the Queen's magic. It's very powerful."

"Bryan said, the clock inside the time lake was also created by Queen Zafina. Why did it stop?"

"She was weak when she created it."

"Weak?"

"She lost her older son."
