Chapter 2 First Mission

Emerald's POV

As I reached the headquarters, I went straight towards the chief's office. I knocked the door twice and waited to be invited in.

Once I heard a faint "come in" from inside, I walked inside.

"Hey Chief" I said playfully

"You came, Emerald. Take a seat, I was waiting for you" Chief said.

Albert Morris. Chief of UCA office.

He was one of my my father's friend.

"So, what is it, you wanted to talk about?" I asked as I took a seat across him.

"It's about you"

"About me?" I asked, confused at his statement

"Yeah, I'm talking about your performance, you are good from the beginning but nowadays you're doing great, I'm truly impressed with your performance" Chief said giving me some documents, It was a report from my trainer, saying I'm doing well. But that wasn't the case, was it?

"I'm glad, but I don't think that was the news you wanted to share with me" I asked with a little smirk. Letting him know, that I know he's up to something.

Chief laughed. "Very well Emerald. I must say you're sharp, actually, I've a case for you?" I couldn't believe my ears. Is he serious right now?

"What? Say it again"

"Ms Ivanov, You doesn't seem happy" Chief said, with a questioning look. It is obvious that I'm not happy. If this isn't for my personal case then why would I be?

"Well Nah, I'm just.. I just have more thing to do" I said putting up a fake smile.

"I know dear, you're too young for these kind of cases, but I know, you can handle it, and yes it can be dangerous too. So I want to ask you first if you are interested" Chief asked with a hopeful look in his eyes. Of course he knows, I won't turn him down.

"Alright, I'll take it" I said without any emotion. I know sooner or later I have to do it.

"Alright then, you will lead this case, Officer Ivanov. And here's your case details, go through this information, this will help you. If your father were here, he would be proud of you" Chief said as he handed me some files.

After the meeting I was going back to Ivanov's mansion, I was thinking about this case, there was something I didn't know about.

After reaching home, I went straight in my office and read the details about this case and saw the date, it's tommorow.

I sighed. "Just great! Tommorow I've to start and I didn't even choose my team"

After struggling with some information, I went to my room, calling it a day, but just then I sat on the bed, I heard a faint knock on my door. Shaking my head, I walked toward the door and opened it

"Good evening Ms Ivanov" I was greeted by a servant.

"Evening, how can I help you, emily?" I asked her. She's emily, one of the oldest servant in the Ivanov's mansion. She's in her Forties and she has been working here for more than fifteen years now.

"Dinner is served, Mr Wayne asked me to inform you to join him in the dining hall"

"Okay, you can go" I said before closing the door again.

Let me introduce myself, My name is Emerald Ivanov. I'm seventeen years old. My father, Francesco Ivanov, was a great businessman as well as crown prince of Devon Hill City. Being the only child, makes me the crown princess of Devon Hill. Despite being in the royal family, my father was more interested in business than royal activities, so do I.

Losing my parents in a young age, made a huge impact on me, as a result I grew up into a cold and stubborn person. I always got my own way to do things, whether anyone likes it or not.

After the dinner with Mr Wayne, I straight went to bed. I don't need anyone to wake me up in the morning, I'm a light sleeper and some times, I hardly even get to sleep. I developed those habits, because I have to wake up early in the morning and finish my training routine before any other thing.

After my training, I went straight to my room and got dressed 'nicely', before Mr Wayne lecture me again and walked out to go to my office, where My manager Daniel was already waiting for me.

"Morning Ms Ivanov" Daniel said  in a mocking tone with a smirk on his face.

I rolled my eyes before answering. "Oh, cut it out Dan" he didn't say anything instead he just chuckled.

"Let's keep the jokes aside then, So Ember, are you ready for your mission?" He asked turning into his serious mode.

"I don't have a choice, do I?" Pressing my lips together, I shrugged my shoulders. "So how's my look?" I asked changing the topic.

He literally checked me out from head to toe before answering. "Good. You look like a businesswoman. But are you sure, about wearing a business attire while going to find about some Mafias"

"Well I'm the lead, I should look like one. And Daniel make sure that no one knows about this, okay? Specially Mr Wayne"

"Alright"

I bid my goodbye to him before walking out of the Ivanov's mansion through the back door, to the parking area. I looked around to find a good car.

My eyes got stuck on a black Mercedes. So this is gonna be my baby today.

When I was on my way to the headquarters to meet the team, I saw something weird on the road just beside the headquarter's building, I stopped my car few meters away to see the person, it looked like he was talking on the phone, he was wearing a black hoodie and jeans, his face was covered but he was looking hella familiar, after staring at him for few minutes, I decided to stalk him.

"who the hell is he, should I directly ask him what he is doing here. I mean it's not a residential area or something" I sighed. After fighting with my thoughts I decided to just follow him silently, as it wasn't a good idea to show myself for no reason.
