Day 15

Five days went by after he accepted me for what I am. Keitaro told a lot of stuff about him and his family. He said he's a lonely child. Never knew his dad. He lived with his mom but she is sick. She has cancer. Her mum convinced him to come to this camp so he could finally have some fun. I tried to make him happy, but on the 15th day in camp, he got terrible news. We spent the morning together as usual until one of the scoutmasters came to us.

S Richard: Keitaro, can you come with me?

K: Is something wrong? Am I in trouble?

S Richard: No you're not in trouble. It's about your mom. Please, come with me.

Keitaro left. We didn't know what to do, so we just waited. About half an hour later he came back crying.

A: Is everything ok?

H: Look at him! Do you think he is ok? Please tell us what happened.

K: My mom. The doctors said her cancer reached its last stage. They said unless a miracle happens, she gonna die in days.

A: Oh no.

H: If we can do anything for you, say it.

K: Thank you, but there is nothing we can do. I will leave camp with the scoutmasters. They said they have errands to do in the city so, they will drop me off at the hospital.

A: Will you come back?

K: I don't know.

C: Can I... Can I go with you?

K: Yes. Please. I can't do this alone.

S Richard: We have to get going. It's gonna be a long ride. Are you ready, Keitaro?

K: Yes. Is it ok if Cornelia comes with us?

S Richard: She can come along.

C: See you guys later.

Before I left Alex, grabbed my hand.

A: Please take good care of him.

C: I will.

We left the camp. It took us 5 hours to get to the hospital. When we arrived, both of us went in. I had to stay strong for him. We entered the room where her mother was sleeping.

Doctor: I'm sorry, your mother lost her unconscious an hour ago. The only thing we do is to wait and pray.

K: Can you leave us alone for a minute, please?

Doctor: Of course.

C: Don't worry, I'm here for you.

K: Thank you.

Keitaro slowly started to make his way to his mum. He started crying again.

K: Please don't leave me. I don't want to be alone.

I didn't care at this point. I couldn't stand there and just watch Keitaro's mother dying. I had to do something.

C: Keitaro. Maybe I can do something. But you have to trust me.

K: You can heal her?

C: No. Not fully. Her cancer is even beyond me. It to attached to her. I can only remove a part of it, but the rest is up to her.

K: Ok. Trush you.

C: Then stand back and roll down the windows and make no one gets in.

Keitaro started to get up and cover everything. He watched the door to make sure no one, can see us. I grabbed a nearby knife.

K: Wait, are you gonna cut it out?!

C: Don't worry. It's not for her. It's for me.

K: What?

I took off the sheet from her. I sat down next to her mother and cut my finger. With my blood, I started drawing symbols on her stomach.

K: Your blood is silver?

C: Yes, because of the magic in me.

K: ...

I placed my hands on her mother's heart and started the incantation.

C: Imalaela ahdah nim hgarafla alihay na aanamata.

C: Inafla mala'la ahdah fifhkataw iday dieasut afihsla jatwam.

C: Please work.

I felt myself weakening with each minute. It took six minutes for the glyphs to fade away. I put down my hand, exhausted. I thought I was gonna faint.

K: Did it work?

C: There is only one way to find out. Roll up the curtains and try to wake her up while I catch my breath.

K: Mum, please wake up.

He shook her a little.

K Mum: Darling, is that you?

She slowly stared open her eyes.

Keitaro started crying and hugged his mother closely.

K Mum: Easy there. Don't cry.

Keitaro turned his head towards me.

K: Thank you.

I smiled and nodded. When I felt better, I went out of the room.

C: Doctor!

Doctor: Yes? Is everything ok?

C: More than okay. Keitaro's mother woke up.

Doctor: I go check on her right away.

Keitaro left the room so the doctor could diagnose her again. A few hours went by. The whole time he was holding my hand. He was scared and happy and the same time.

Doctor: Mister Keitaro. I have some good news. It seems like by some miracle your mom is gonna make it. The bad news is she still has cancer, but now it's treatable with chemo.

K: Thanks, Doctor.

Doctor: Don't mention it. Just doing my job.

We headed back to the room. Keitaro spoke to her mum for a few minutes and introduced me. After we made sure she was okay, we left for the hospital.

I have fallen asleep in the car. I was depleted. After an hour 5 hour trip back we arrived back in camp. We told the good news to everyone.

The five of us spent the night together until it was bedtime. I started to leave but then.

K: Cornelia, wait!

C: Go ahead Hannah, I'll talk with you later in the cabin.

H: Ok.

She winked and left. Typical Hannah.

K: I just wanted to say. Thank you again for everything. I don't know what would, I have done without you.

C: Don't mention it. It is my job, after all.

As I was turning away, he grabbed my back. He pulled me towards him and kissed me. At first, I was surprised, but after I realized what was happening, I kissed him back. I never wanted this moment to end. Before we realized we were levitating 6 feet above the ground.

K: Holy smokes!

We hugged and kissed each other for a long time. Then the both of us headed back to our cabin. Hannah was asleep, so no awkward questions were asked. I went to bed smiling. I looked out the window, and I stared at the Moon all night. I have never been this happy before. I was in love. And he liked me too!
