He froze. My bait is working fine. If I had brought the name Ellen, she couldn't move like a lion cub lost its mother. Feeling defeated in arguing with me, Jeff clenched his fists tightly. Then stomped down the stairs. I made sure he really got out of here. Halfway up the stairs, I jumped over the ledge and landed smoothly. My attention turned instantly to a few of my friends slumped under the couch wailing in pain—each touching the cuts and bruises on their faces.
"Sorry," Olivia sighed. "We couldn't stop him from coming in."
I'm not too surprised. It must have all been Jeff's doing.
