Dark woods, mud, fog, trees were how to describe all of Honor's nightmares the past few nights, until one night he woke up for the first time sitting up sweating and panting. He felt like a weight pushing down on him and a weird trance-like pull telling him to start walking towards a specific unknown destination.
He begins to take a few deep breaths while looking at his glowing red alarm clock that says 1:45 am. He then faces forward and sees two shadow-like figures stand at the edge of his bed. Scared, he grabs a flashlight and shines it at the end of his bed and sees nobody there. He then processed to roll over with the flashlight still on, closing his eyes and sighing, heading back to sleep. Moments later, he wakes up standing at the beginning of a dirt road that looks like the driveway that leads into heavy early morning misty fog.
Honor then again feels a weight on him and feels the trance start too. Someone, something, is controlling him, taking him down the long dark misty road, toward an abandoned, torn-down dirty white mansion. The mansion had broken windows, vines covering the house sides, broken glass, and garbage lying everywhere on the mushy ground. The estate cast off an almost solid vaporish horrid gloom. Not wanting to go any further, Honor tries to turn back, but the force is too strong for Honor to fight against. He keeps trying, but he begins to feel a sharp pain in his shoulders, causing his skin to cut and draw blood, so he stops resisting.
Honor realizes by now which mansion he is approaching as he grows closer. This is the house that nobody in the right mind would visit. Back in the olden days, the mass murder that was put on by Alice and Agnes happened in 1692. Alice was believed to be a witch who was poisoning the mind of the little girl named Agnes. Soon, they think that Agnes was also a witch. While the decision was being made, Alice and Agnes murdered numbers of people until they were caught by the founders.
They put Alice and Agnes in the mansion's cellar to starve to death and be beaten by the ones they wrong. After many "blessings," they were finally laid to rest in the outcast part of the cemetery, which is why the only visitors it received were teenage vandals and cult groups.
Honor is now growing closer and closer to the mansion and soon stops at the run-down stairs. Honor didn't want to walk up the stairs, but he was forcefully pushed to walk up the stairs and finally arrived at the front door. It was broken in spots but was still attached to the hinges; it started to open slowly, without a push or turn, the door gave off a loud screech. The rush of rotting wood and death came flying out of the house. Honor began to become terrified.
After a few moments, Honor slowly walked in. Everywhere he looked were pentagrams, dolls, broken-down stairs, vandal spray paint splattered on the floors and walls. Honor's eyes traveled to the far part of the house, down the dark, webbed covered hall, where a melody began to ring. Agnes, a phantom little girl with an old teddy bear sitting beside her, sat at the old piano while playing it softly through the house. Agnes' melody gets faster and faster as Honor approaches her. As soon as he is next to her, the music suddenly stops.
Agnes slowly turns around and stares at Honor with her cold-covered brown eyes, and points to the door down the hall. Honor turned his head over to the doorway. There was nothing. Honor looks back at Agnes, but she had disappeared as well as the piano. His ears began to have to ring from a high-pitched screaming that was coming from the second floor. The ringing in his ear made Honor begin to become dizzy and lose his balance. Honor looks up to find a woman, Alice, in the doorway. Honor begins to remove his hands from his ears and hears only laughter from the Agnes echoing through the house.
Alice begins to pace towards Honor, screaming again. Honor notices that he does not feel the compulsive pull anymore, so he gets up and runs out of the house as fast as he can go. Honor ran all the way home, never once stopping or looking back. Once he arrived home, he ran straight to bed to forget his horrid adventure.
The next day, Honor pretends that yesterday's events did not happen. He continues to focus on the anniversary of Founders Day. This year is the 333rd anniversary. If you are sixteen years old, you can visit and pay your respects to the town founders' graves. There were a few graves that were cast out, like Alice and Agnes's. Honor was attending the event with his friends Adrien, Chrissy, Frankie, and Halo. So, they showed up a bit late to give their thanks since they had been messing around all day.
In the past years, they were not allowed to visit the graves because they were not old enough. They all have seen it before, but they were never allowed inside. Today though, the graveyard looked very unfamiliar and sinister. Since Honor was still agitated from yesterday, he was not sure if he should go. He did not want Alice and Agnes to appear in the graveyard. His friends entered the gate first, but Honor hesitated.
There was fog and frost everywhere, and it only appeared in the graveyard. The tombstones did not look normal either. It was like the graveyard changed overnight. Since it was so foggy, Honor could barely see where he was walking. They were about to come up to the first Founder's grave when the rush of death hit us. It took Honor back to his feelings at the Pale Mansion. His stomach was now turning. Honor and his friends got scared but chose to ignore it and gave their thanks to the first Founder, then continued to the next.
As he was walking, his eyes caught something glowing in the distance; he decided to label the glow as a light post. Still, when he turned back to his friends, he started hearing whispering and scratching noises close to him and in the distance. He continued to ignore it, thinking his brain was playing tricks at him from his previous events.
As they were finishing up the founders' thanks, they came upon a grave dug up, and the coffin opened. His friends started to get nervous, and Honor looked at his friends. He then processed to point at the gravestone they stopped at. The gravestone read "In blessed and loving memory Angel... and Aiko...? -1692." Honor's eyes widened. When Honor's friends realized who's grave, it belonged to, they all began to panic. Seconds later, Honor and his friends heard screaming.
They thought it was high schoolers playing a trick on them. Suddenly, the fog begins to lift and reveals Alice and Agnes appear coming from under the fog. They tried to run, but they were not able to move from being shocked by fear. Honor snapped out of it and yelled at his friends and told them to run out.
Finally, able to get them out of their trance, they started to run. While all of Honor's friends were running, Adrien ended up tripping and falling. Honor ran to the back to help him up when suddenly he got dragged away, screaming into the distance. Halo and Cheryl ran after Adrien to try and retrieve him. Frankie and Honor stood there waiting for them to come back. Still, Frankie got scared, and Honor became anxious, ignored him, and continued running.
Honor tried to get Frankie to come back, but Frankie did not listen. Honor decides to look for the three as he was looking. A cold haze blows at him as he hears Cheryl and Halo screaming for help then everything goes dead silent. The fog started to clear a path. Honor decided to follow it, but before he could, Adrien, Cheryl, and Halo's body parts were rolled out of the fog with a blood trail leading towards Honor. Honor began to scream and fall backward. Still being shocked from yesterday, he gets up and runs out of the graveyard, yelling for help and crying.
The next day, on the news, Adrien, Chrissy, and Halo were discovered mutilated in the graveyard. The town put up a memorial at the local church. When Honor attended, he sat on the way back so that he could be alone. Honor gave out a choked-up sigh and looked up at the pictures displayed at the church's front to see his friends. He began to silently cry. It felt as if he was crying forever and couldn't stop when he felt a kick at his leg.
Honor looked over in the direction of the kick and saw Adrien on his left. He was shocked at seeing Adrien and began to start looking around and saw Halo on his right and Cheryl in front of him. He began to cry even more and said sorry over and over again. The three just smiled at Honor, then slowly faded away. In the next few years, 3 teenagers were found mutilated at the graveyard.
The townsfolk called it a curse since there was no evidence on who killed them. Eventually, Founder's Day was canceled indefinitely, and the graveyard was sealed off to the public. The killings stopped for a while and began to start again throughout the town. After about 40 years, the town was deserted, and the only that remained was the vengeful spirits.
The End.
