The Orphaned Queen

After being abandoned at the border of the Blue River Pack territory, Rain is raised in the orphanage as a witch, where she becomes best friends with Jessica Tompson, a werewolf orphan from the pack. After Jessicas seventeenth birthday, Jessica tells Rain they must escape the pack to save Rain from a horrible fate. But before they can leave, Odett, a five-year-old rogue pup, enters their lives, and they decide to take her with them to ensure she doesn't share the same fate as Rain. After they leave, they run into danger while in the woods as they try to make their way south to New Orleans in an effort to find a witch who will help train Rain to use her magic. But soon, they will discover The Moon Goddess has a plan for Rain and her newly found family. She is pulled from her miserable life and thrown onto a rollercoaster of ups and downs, finding her goddess-given mate, discovering her family's past, and even fighting a war to save all supernatural species. What will their fate entail? Will she find her happy ending?

Reassurance

Rains' P.O.V.

After Doctor Jameson explains that Dosha's tiredness and my dizziness could be symptoms of the twins growing faster than normal werewolf pups, he tells us that he will give me some extra prenatal and that I will need to eat more protein-enriched foods to help with the dizziness. When he leaves the room to print off the new sonogram pictures, I look over at Zion, who looks nervous. When I tell him that everything is going to be okay, he nods as he pulls me close.

"I know, my love. But I can't help but worry." He says, and I wrap my arms around his waist. "I don't know what I would do if I lost you."

"You won't lose me, I promise," I say as I pull away and look him in the eyes.

"How do you know?" He asks, and I can hear the emotion in his voice.

"Because I choose to believe the goddesses planned for us to bring these amazing pups into the world. They wouldn't give us such an incredible gift and then take everything away." I say. I'm not sure if I'm trying to convince him or myself.

"I hope you're right." He says as the doctor walks back into the room, holding the envelope with our new Sonygram pictures and a bottle of the prenatal for the extra nutrients and vitamins he suggested I take.

"Take these twice, daily, with your breakfast and supper, along with the other prenatal I gave you. Also, make sure not to take them on an empty stomach." He says as he hands me the bottle of vitamins and the envelope.

"Thank you, doctor," I say as Zion helps me off the hospital bed.

"You're very welcome, my Queen. If your symptoms persist, please let me know so we can find something else that might help." He says as he walks us out of the room. We meet Mia in the hall, and I ask her if she's ready to leave. She nods, and we make our way down to the hospital entrance, where his Jeep is waiting for us.

"May I ask a question, my Queen?" Mia asks.

"Of course, Mia," I answer, turning to look at her in the back seat.

"Is everything okay with the twins?" She asks quietly. Unsure if she should be asking.

"Everything is fine. The twins are just growing faster than normal wolf pups should." I answer her with a smile, trying to hide my nervousness.

"Should I stay here to help you with your pregnancy?" She asks, and my heart melts, knowing she would give up being with her mate for a time to stay with me.

"It's okay, Mia. Thank you for the offer, but Jess will be home soon, and you just found your mate. You deserve to start your new life with him." I say, making her smile.

"If you need me, I would gladly stay with you, my Queen. Nick would understand." She says.

"I'm sure he would, but I won't ask you not to go. You both deserve to be happy, and I will find someone to help until Jess gets home." I tell her, and she nods.

Soon we're back at the castle, and Zion jumps out and rushes to my side, opening the door and helping me out before walking me up the stairs and into the entrance and handing the keys to the guard standing by the door. Zion decides to take the elevator instead of the stairs, and I give him a grateful smile. Once we make it to our suite, he helps me get comfortable on the couch as Odett comes running into the living room with a huge smile, followed by Stephanie.

"Did you have a good day?" I ask her.

"Yes, ma'am. We went to the park and had ice cream and cotton candy with a bunch of the other kids!" She says, giggling while watching Zion fuss over me. "Are you okay, mammy?"

"Of course, baby girl," I answer her. "Why do you ask?"

"You look so tired. Do you want me to leave you alone?" She asks, looking a little sad and worried.

"No, baby girl. I love when you're around." I say, making her smile again. "Would you like to lie down with me and watch a movie?"

"Can we watch Scooby-Doo?" She asks as she grabs a blanket off the car beside the couch before curling up beside me.

"Of course. Which Scooby-Doo would you like to watch?" I ask with a laugh.

"The mummy one." She says quickly. I search till I find the one she's talking about, and we get comfortable as the movie begins.

"I need to go handle a few things, my love. If you need anything, link me, and I'll be right there." Zion says as he kisses Odett and me both on our foreheads.

"Can you bring me a smoothie on your way back?" I ask him.

"I want a smoothie too!" Odett squeaks, making us laugh.

"What flavor?" He asks with a laugh.

"Strawberry, please," I answer, and Odett nods her head in agreement.

"Should I ask Stephanie to stay?" He asks me.

"No, we'll be okay," I tell him, and he nods, though he looks a little unsure.

"Okay, I won't be gone long." He says as he walks to the door. "I love y'all."

"We love you too." We say in unison before he walks out the door.

"Mommy," Odett calls out.

"Yes, sweetie?" I ask.

"Are you sure you're okay?" She asks me.

"Yes, baby girl," I say, wondering if I should tell her what's happening. I decide it would be best, to be honest with her, so I sit up, pulling her into my lap so that she's facing me. "The twins are growing faster than they normally would, so Dosha and I have been a little sleepy. But everything will be okay, and Doctor Jameson has me taking extra vitamins to help with everything."

"You promise?" She asks while looking at me with her beautiful emerald green eyes.

"I'll never lie to you, baby girl. It might get hard, but I promise everything will work out the way it should." I tell her, and she nods.

"You can take a nap in your bed if you want to." She says, and I smile.

"How about we watch the movie, and if I need to take a nap, I'll do it here while you watch your movie?" I ask, and she smiles.

"Okay, mommy." She says, and we lie back down on the couch.

After about twenty minutes, I get to the point where I can no longer keep my eyes open. I decide to close my eyes briefly. I wasn't planning to fall asleep, but when I opened my eyes again, the movie was almost over, and Odett was sleeping beside me. I hate having to get up because I don't want to wake her up, but I have to pee so badly.

I wiggle my way up from behind her and use a pillow to stuff behind her so she stays comfortable, and then rush to the bathroom before I pee on myself. While in the bathroom, I hear our front door open and Zion call out for me. I link him to let him know I'm in the bathroom and not to wake Odett up.

"Are you okay?" He asks through the door.

"Yes, I just had to pee really bad," I say with a laugh as I open the door.

"How are you feeling?" He asks me.

"Fine, Odett and I took a little nap on the couch. I also explained to her the best I could without going into details that the twins are growing faster than normal, so Dosha and I are more tired than usual." I tell him. "I think she understands."

"That's good." He says as he walks me back to the living room while placing his hand on my belly, and I notice I'm starting to get a little bump. "I got y'all smoothies, and yours has a protein shake added to it."

"Thank you, my love. You are so thoughtful." I say with a smile as we sit at the table.

"I'll do anything to keep you happy and healthy." He says with that smile that I love so much. "Should we wake Odett up so she can have her smoothie?"

"Let's let her sleep a bit longer," I say as I lean over and lay my head on his chest as we watch Odett sleeping on the couch. "She was so worried earlier. I wish I knew what to say to make everything better for her."

"She will be okay, my love. We should keep reassuring her that everything will work out for the best and stay honest with her through everything." He says, and I nod.

"You're right. Odett is so much stronger than we think. She's been through so much but never losses her smile." I say. "How did we get so lucky?"
