Chapter 5: Omega System

I feel that my consciousness is going back. It felt like it was a dream, yet it feels real. I saw in the dream that two glowing rocks are headed for Eduardo's house. I then felt my heart pump and I opened my eyes.

"Eduardo! Sasa!" I jerked up to a sitting position and reached out my hand in the non-existing object. Its been a while since I have called Ysabelle what I used to.

I shook my head and took a deep breath. I then stood up.

"Where am I?" I looked around only to see absolutely nothing.

It's pitch black everywhere, but I could see my hands clearly. Its as if I am glowing, like a lantern in a pitch black night. I also see ripples originating from where I stand.

I decided to walk aimlessly for who knows how long. Until I stumble upon a lake with a wooden boat at the middle. I saw a figure with its back facing towards me. I looked closer.

A man with a black robe and a hood seem to be fishing in the boat. My eyes were also caught by the seemingly floating scythe above the man.

I felt a chill as I puzzle together the pieces. When suddenly, the man turned his head towards me and what I saw terrified me.

The man had no flesh or muscles, only his skull with hollow eyes and nose was shown under his hood. His teeth, or mouth, was agape and seemed to be confused or shocked.

After a few moments, the man, or the skeleton, stood up and disappeared with a whoosh going straight towards me. He disappeared along with the lake and the boat.

I haven't got the chance to asked some questions about my whereabouts, but seeing what I just saw has answered all of my questions.

"I'm dead, aren't I?" I figured as I remember that in the supposed dream, I died because a glowing rock hit me in the my forehead.

This conclusion also supported the fact that I witnessed the presence of Death. I am sure that was Death, with his infamous black robe and hood, and the scythe that is hovering above him.

"What do I do now?" I asked hoping someone to answer me. I expected to be in hell where countess skeletons or sould linger about everywhere, or shouldn't have Death guide me to where I should have gone?

Suddenly, as if some miracle heard my question, I was answered by a strange and peculiar series of display in front of my eyes.

One of the display was adorned with black strokes which seemed to be vines at the border and a chibi skull at the upper left corner. A chibi scythe was also displayed at the lower right corner and a chibi mage staff with a green gem hovering above the staff is displayed at the lower left corner of the display. I'll call this Death's display because of the obvious motif.

The display is read as follows:

[Death's recognition has been obtained]

Why have Death recognized me?

As if the display heard my question, another display has appeared. This display was normal with a transparent yellow color.

[You have received Death's recognition as you have the presence and possess the Omega]

Omega? What's that? As I was thinking what Omega is, I looked over to the other displays that appeared along the Death's display.

A display that is adorned with blue streaks and a striking glassy appearance has caught my attention.

[You have obtained the Variable, Death]

Variable? What's that? I asked hoping for the displays to answer me, but nothing shows up.

I looked on to another display and this display was shining gold. I peeked closer to it.

[You have obtained <Death's Scythe> as a reward for obtaining the variable, Death, and Death's recognition]

What? Death's Scythe? Where is it then? I want to hold it. I was excited at the idea of holding Death's Scythe within my hands. The chuunibyou side of me is awakening! Suddenly, a golden display showed in front of my eyes.

[You have obtained your first rewards by using the Omega System. Would you like to enter tutorial on how to use the system?]

A normal looking display appeared closer in front of me.

[YES/NO]

I immediately pressed YES. I was intrigued by this so called Omega System. The displays also said that I have the presence of Omega and possess it. Are the two connected?

[Starting tutorial. Please wait a moment...]

I waited patiently as I am waiting something big to happen. Until, a bunch of displays appeared in my eyes.

[You obtained, <Scan>]

[Tutorial ended]

I was dumbfounded and had a look of whited eyes as I can't believe that, that was the most anticlimactic tutorial ever.

There were five unknown questions marks that I obtained. I wonder what those are.

I tried using <Scan> in the surroundings.

"<Scan>" I held my hand up as if I am pointing at the floor and at the sky. A normal display appeared.

[The Realm of Death]

So I am in the realm of Death, huh. Go figure. I try to find something else to scan but found nothing. Then an idea came to mind.

I placed my hand on my chest and shouted. "<Scan> and <Description>!!"

A huge display appeared and was burning with golden fire.

I didn't understand the first half of my description, but I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the second half.

Anyways, why do I only have 10 HP? Doesn't that make me very weak? Although I have high strength and defense, I wonder what's the standard.

The system answered my question. Apparently, I am above human. Although I wonder why my health is at 10 only? Maybe because of the reason that I have high defense and endurance. My MP is only 5, maybe because of the lack of skills I possess. I only have my personal sword skills.

I was interested at the word Variable right at the start when I received a special display that says I received a Variable that is Death.

I went to the Variable/s section and hovered my hand on Death and said. "<Description>"

The same design of display as the earlier one showed up in front of me. Perhaps I'm gonna call this, the Variable display.

[Death has recognized you. Death has allowed you to use his variable, Death.

You may now be able to control Death as you will with the expense of MP.

You may now be able to wield <Death's Scythe>]

What?! I was shocked out of my wits end when I read this. I can control death at my own will?! How awesome is that?! That's also scary.

By this time, another shining display has appeared.

[Notice. <Scan> and <Description> has fused to avoid redundancy and has been upgrade to <Property>

Property - shows that stats and description of objects or people]

Well, that was fast. I only used scan and description once and they were fused and upgraded.

"<Inventory>!" I went to my inventory and hovered to Death's Scythe that has a border that is glowing gold. While the Philippium Crystal has a border of flickering lights of purple.

What?! This weapon is too OP! As expected of Death's Scythe. Although, Death's Scythe is mine now, calling it Death's Scythe is boring. Should I name it?

Heck yeah! We should!

What should I name her... I kept thinking to come up with a good name

"The name has to have a correlation with Death and Scythe."

"Death... Dead... Dying... Scythe... Weed Cutter..." I kept thinking for several hours until I came up with something good!

"Shi-Kama Tamashī-Kiru." I just translated Death, scythe, soul, and cut into Japanese and combined them together. I'm so creative!

As if the system sensed that I changed the name of Death's Scythe. A display popped up.

I was surprised that a display popped up, it had a rainbow asthetic design t it.

That was a lot to take in. I didn't consider Life, apparently, Life is a her. Maybe they're a couple, like in folktales. The new attack of the Shi-Kama consumes a lot of MP and I can't use it. I can use one of the physical attacks. I wonder when I will meet Life.

Nonetheless, the system has many to offer! I currently don't know how to increase my strength, the system didn't explain that, but it seems that I have to obtain a fair amount of skills and meet individuals to obtain more power.

As I was thinking about power, I came to a sudden realization. Why do I need power? There's nothing to fight, unless there is. Was this power given to me to save the Earth? Is the Earth being threatened? I don't know, but my gut tells me that, that is the reason.

But how do I get out of here in Death's Realm?

"<Property>"

I used <Property> on the surroundings to check if property changed the result and to see a way to get out of this realm. I was surprised as new information appeared.

[Realm of Death. Death's fishing spot and Father Time's chronostasis prison.]

"Father Time?!"

As I was about to turn around to look for something. An individual that has an hour hand, a minute hand, and a second hand in his whited head and face appeared a few inches away from my face. He wore a hat and part of his neck down is made out of mechanical clocks, modern clocks, and clocks that I haven't seen before and alien in nature. He is also emitting blue and green lines around him with flickering lights as some of the lines abruptly ended.

I felt a chill in my spine and saw the hands in his face turned faster and faster. Suddenly, a bright light flashed between us and I lost consciousness.
