CHAPTER 18

At last school had ended and Yoo Na was finally free to leave the unbearable school. In Ra and her minions hadn't tried disturbing her and she felt relieved that at least she wouldn't be distracted from her mission. She hurriedly flashed out of the class in a hurry as soon as the closing bell rang, she still had to talk to the inspectors for some information, she had to try to persuade them somehow. Cha Eun watched as Yoo Na quickly left the class as if she was in a hurry to be somewhere, he suspected that she was probably in a state of dilemma as she behaved strangely. It didn't seem like she was there to make friends or have fun, even though it seemed like she was a bookworm, he knew there was something bothering her deeply, something that she had put all her focus on and in a long time, he got curious about someone.

The wealthy kids happily hopped into their luxurious drives awaiting them as they bid each other goodbye. In Ra and her minions saw Yoo Na get on her old worn out bike and they couldn't help but snicker at the funny scene. Yoo Na heard them but she ignored, she had more useful things to spend her time on. She got on her bike and started riding it, the bike was a hassle to ride and she felt her thighs ache as she struggled to ride it but the pain wasn't visible on her face, she barely even felt anything anymore. She was almost out of the gate when a black luxurious car bumped into the back of her bike with a bit of force which sent her falling to the ground with a soft thud. Her brows creased in anger, if there was one thing she was bad at doing, it was keeping her anger contained. She saw the car stop for a minute as the window was being pulled down to reveal In Ra's devilish smile on her lips.

"You should know your place you filthy lowlife, if you ever speak the way you did to me again, I'll kill you myself." She said as the windows wind back up and the car moved out.

"Aisshh, fuck!" She cussed under her breath as she looked at her destroyed bike with parts rolling on the floor. She got up from the floor immediately. How on earth was she going to walk all the way to her house and even worse, the station. She thought as she pushed her hair back from her face. She picked up her bag and was set to start her foot journey, she didn't care if she had to walk twenty miles everyday, she would do anything and everything, she would do it all to ensure her dreams were fulfilled.

"I told you it would only get worse." She heard Cha Eun's voice behind her and she immediately turned around.

"I..i Can handle it." She said firmly and he could see the fierceness in her eyes burning with anger but she wasn't angry at the bullies, she was angry at something else.

"Do you have transport fare back?" Cha Eun asked and Yoo Na was a bit flustered by his action. Why on earth would he care about a lowlife like her?

"I don't need your pity. I despise being pitiful." She said coldly as she turned to leave.

"I don't pity you, I'm just curious." He said with a straight face.

"What?" She asked with her brows creased in confusion wondering what he was confused about.

"Stop being so stubborn and take it." He said as he took her hands and pushed the money into her palms. She looked at him with squinted eyes as she wondered why he was being kind to her or curious of her as he said.

"Its okay, I'm late already." She said as she gave him the money back and ran out of the gate without waiting for his reply. She continued running and didn't look back, no matter how nice or handsome he was, she couldn't just see any of it since her rage and vengeance had blinded her eyes. Cha Eun stood speechless for a minute before he got into the car waiting for him. He found a strong urge surging inside of him to figure out what was going on with her mostly because he had seen the hurt and pain in her eyes that were similar to the one he had when he had lost his mother. He looked out the tinted window when he saw her running in the sidewalk, her long hair waved left and right behind her, he realised how unfeeling she had become when she ran non stop, it felt like she wasn't feeling anything anymore as she ran under the hot sun, which would have been tiring but she didn't lessen her pace. He continued watching her till she was out of his sight.

Yoo Na ran non stop till she reached the station with rough breaths and covered in sweat as she sucked in enough air into her lungs while she rested her hands on her knees with heavy pants. She waited for a moment to compose her self properly before she went into the station. The female officer she had met the other day stared at her questioningly.

"Hello." She greeted politely as she bowed her head hoping the lady wouldn't drive her out after their little argument the other day. The lady's eyes continued to peer through hers without a word and Yoo Na pressed her lips in a thin line.

"I'm sorry about the other day, I was in grieving." She said softly.

"It's okay, so what do you want?" The officer asked and Yoo Na sighed in relief.

"Can I speak to Inspector Han?" She asked.

"Why? Do you have any important information to give him?" The lady asked and she almost said no but thought against it because if she did say no, the officer would never let her see him.

"Yes it's important." She lied in a convincing way. The officer looked at her for a minute.

"Jung Moon!" The officer called and a young male officer came in, he looked nothing like an officer but more like a young celebrity with cute features. "Take her to the inspector's office, she has information." The officer said and the male officer took her in as he smiled shyly at the pretty girl and she couldn't help but roll her eyes inwardly.

"Inspector Han, a girl is here to relay some information to you." The officer said as he went in.

"Come in." Inspector Han said to her while the young officer walked out. He squinted his eyes when he saw her face.

"Why are you here? I know you don't have any information to give me." The Inspector said as she sat down.

"I just want to show you how motivated I am to catch the culprit, I'm even ready to be a detective if necessary, I'll do anything to catch him so please just answer one question please." She pleaded with all seriousness, he saw the hard resolve in her eyes.

"I can't disclose any personal information on a victim's case no matter who you are. There's nothing you can do to help anyway, so I'll advice you to focus on your education." He advised sternly but no matter what, she couldn't back down so easily.

"But you told me that her case was officially closed for lack of evidence and you are still working on it behind the higher ups which is illegal so why can't you help me out?" She stated the facts out. Inspector Han sighed, he didn't want the little girl to get involved with the dangerous business and get hurt in the process but she was strongly convincing and maybe she could help him do things, maybe illegal things outside the force without anyone suspecting that he was still on the case even if it had been closed. He sighed heavily.

"You have to promise me that you won't move on your own without contacting me first." He said and for the first time in a long while, Yoo Na's eyes were bright with hope, she was finally going to catch the culprit and make him pay.

"What do you want to know?" Inspector Han asked.

"Everything you know." She replied.
