Someone You Loved

"Is that how we make you feel?"

I looked behind me to see my friends and Julian all standing there looking at us with sad faces. May was crying and Julian had an angry look on his face.

"Were you guys here the whole time?", I asked

"NO. We came at your ranting session", May answered while sniffling. I got up and went to her and she gave me the biggest bear hug while whispering, "I'm sorry" repeatedly in my ear. This led me to burst out into another round of tears. Juliana joined in the hug

"Group hug", Asher announced and they all joined the hug. Including Julian.

"I want ice-cream."

"Well, you can't have ice-cream."

"You won't stop me from getting ice-cream."

Twenty minutes later, we are sitting in an ice-cream parlor having a group ice-cream sundae

"I missed this", Asher said,

"Having you around just made realize that we hadn't done this in a long while." May was done with her sundae and decided to share mine with me.

Before May and Asher started dating, we were best friends. They met for the first time when I asked him to drop me off at her house because Julian had practice. When they met, it was love at first sight. They started seeing each other secretly for two months before they told me about their relationship. I was happy for them but made May promise she would always put me first because I didn't want to lose my best friend to my brother. Over the years, she forget about me slowly till I moved away. She broke her promise and my heart. She was one of the reasons I moved away. It wasn't only because of Julian. But, I can't tell her that cause it would hurt her feelings.

"April! Back to earth please", Asher screamed while snapping his fingers in my face. I looked up to see my friends all looking at me.

"What were you thinking about?," May asked while shoving a spoon of ice cream in her mouth.

"Nothing important," I answered. Julian looked at me with a sad face which left me wondering why or what made him look sad. I didn't bother asking.

"April darling. I'm quite offended you didn't let me know you've returned," a voice I recognized spoke from behind me. I looked behind me to see the guy that always puts a smile on my face.

"Desta!," I screamed right before I rushed into his open arms. I wrapped my arms around his torso while he wrapped his around my waist. I am quite certain we were hugging for almost five minutes before Asher cleared his throat and we had to separate. We broke the hug and I looked up at him with a wide grin on my face; his looked pretty identical.

"I missed you so much Onyx," he said

"I missed you too Sphinx," I replied

Two throats were cleared when we kept looking at each other. I grabbed his hand and took him to our table.

"Guys, this is Desta. Desta, this are the guys," I introduced.

Asher stretched out his hand which Desta gracefully accepted while Julian just sat there giving him a skeptical look. I sat Desta down in my chair and was about to grab another when I was pulled back into his lap. I looked back at him and he wore a cheeky smile on his face

"My lap is always open to you and happens to be more comfortable than a chair so why waste time getting one when you have one even better right here?"

I laughed. I laughed really hard because he had definitely improved.

"Your flirting has greatly improved. I'm impressed," I said after my laughter had died down.

"I've had lots of practice."

The table had grown silent which baffled me. I looked at them to see them intently staring at us.

"Who's Desta?"

"My boyfriend."

"WHAT?"
