Chapter 19: Hot Showers and Even Hotter Tears

Chief Turner showed up the next day outside of Felicity's office. He had stuck to the knocking before entering rule.

"Come in, Dad." The door eased open and Chief Turner entered.

"How'd you know it was me?"

"Your knock sounds the same every time."

"Oh. I'll work on a new one."

She rolled her eyes and chuckled. "You're something."

"Something special?" he asked with a grin.

"Always. Anyhow, what brings you by today?"

"I wanted to talk to you about the gathering. Did you think I forgot?"

"No. I had just hoped."

"Very funny daughter of mine. I want to do it this weekend. The weather is going to be perfect. Does that work for you?"

The idea made her cringe, especially with everything going on right now, but it could be the perfect time to do some investigating of her own,

"And if it doesn't work for me?"

"Too bad. Make it work, dear." He bent down and kissed her head.

"I will."
