The Samars Merchant Group (2)

The crowd was screaming and cheering like they were at a K-pop idol group concert. Arianell was covering her ears with both hands, as the screams rang in her head. Beatrice, however, could laugh her stomach out, as she found their behaviour hilarious.

To have a merchant group staying in the city was great news, as supplies only came once per month. But now, the trade route will be more active, and their living conditions will rise. But those nuptials bliss greedy ladies just had to turn the whole procession into the theatre to show off, who was more desperate.

No wonder those merchants didn't spare them a single glance and the young leader's expression was grim like he hated to be there at the moment. As the procession left, the crowd also slowly dispersed.

"Wow, I guess the real drama will start now…" Beatrice smirked. "Those hungry female wolves will now compete among themselves to see who can get the attention of young heir… You want to join the race?"

"Excuse me?!"

"I saw you two eyeing each other… If this is not the start of a great love story, then what is?" The teacher had a big grin on her face.

"Ahhhh…" If anything, Beatrice was a great observer, sometimes causing Arianell a headache, just like now. "What about you? Not interested in marrying into the riches?"

"That boy is too young for me!" She answered without hesitation. Her ideal type was someone in his early 30s, possibly a soldier who wouldn't be home much but would bring in a stable income.

"Well, the free theatre has ended, so I better be on my way. Oh, and by the way, viscount's son is lurking around the school lately, hide if you see him," Beatrice then runs out to finish her business, leaving Arianell alone on her way to blacksmith.

The city lord was viscount Hebel. Unlike other aristocrats, whose titles come with the fiefdoms, he was only tasked to oversee the city of Deneb. Even the small fields around the city, which mostly provided food for him and his guests, were only rented to him by the royal family.

He was a laughingstock to other nobles, but as capital society was far away, he could play the role of overlord here. And his son Tobias was a spoiled brat and well-known player, who chased after every unmarried young girl. He also tried to court Beatrice before, but after learning of her age, he called her spoiled meat after the expiration date, who could only warm the bed for his father.

Due to the commotion, Arianell almost forgot her initial goal of visiting the city today. The Forest was great in providing her with food since the spring just started, but she needed to prepare early for the cold season when nature went to sleep. For that, she looked for someone who could custom manufacture her hydroponic system.

The workshop was one the busiest places in the village, as various tools needed regular maintenance. Occasionally, some soldiers would require repair for their weapons. Being a blacksmith was a profitable job.

Arianell could hear the sound of smithing from far away. She saw a lot of people busily moving big crates around. And the man giving out the directions was none other than Mihail Samar.

"Can I just ignore him and move on with my business?" Arianell silently fumed.

But she couldn't find the blacksmith she spoke with yesterday.

"This is no place for a little girl. Go home," Mihail said mockingly after watching her wandering around mindlessly.

Arianell frowned.

She stood by the entrance looking at the busy worker. The inside of the workroom was hot, so the spring breeze outside was soothing her mind and body.

"Hey, did you hear me?" Mihail called out impatiently.

"I have no business with you. Please continue with your work."

"Oh really, my lady?" he asked sarcastically. "So can I ask you, why are you hindering the entrance to my workshop?"

His workshop?

"That… I thought the person in charge was Mr Braun…"

"He was… Until yesterday. Today he is running an errand for me. So, what exactly are you doing here?"

"I brought the blueprints… I want the blacksmith to make something for me."

Mihail sat by the table gesturing her to do the same. She hesitated for a bit but soon showed him her papers. She has spent a whole night drawing things she would need for her gardening project.

"What is this?" He looked up in confusion.

"That, you don't need to know…? How long will it take to make everything?"

"Well… I don't know if we can make this… What if you use it for something dangerous? I don't want to be responsible."

This freak!!

He is making it difficult for her!

How can her hydroponic system be dangerous?!

"What I'm going to use it for… Is none of your business. I have money and I will pay for it, I'm your customer here. So, are you going to accept my request, or not? … Uncle."

His face got ugly instantly.

"Un… cle?"

"Yes… Aren't you much older than me? You even called me a little girl… I should be addressing you properly, aren't I? U-N-C-L-E."

"Are you kidding me?!"

"Not at all, esteemed owner! I'm just looking for someone, who can make me a few buckets and pipes. It surely not so difficult…"

Mihail face was still full of disbelief.

Gotta strike the iron while it's still hot.

"Then… I'm sure one week should be enough time. I will see you later," she stood up and quickly added: "Un~cle."

Then she runs away.

'Heh, you are still one hundred years too early to try and pick up a fight with me. I chew nosy brat like you for breakfast," Arianell told herself as no one was around.

She left the village with light steps, feeling a sense of great accomplishment. Not only she will get her indoor gardening system soon, but she also slapped some snotty rich brat's face.

Life in the west was truly beautiful.
