Chapter 15: The Sleepless City

Ryan ate his lunch and dinner with his family while enjoying the homely feeling. They talked, laughed, and shared the happenings. Ryan also shared how he won his first official spar in the MA.

His sister gave him a nice sisterly hug to express her happiness and congratulations. Tony and Misty also smiled but inwardly, they were sad and worried. Worried that their child will go away from them and put his head in many dangerous situations. Even though they knew the dangers, they didn't discourage Ryan.

As such, the day went smoothly without any noise or nags. The night too went smoothly. Sarah entered inside Ryan and did something neither Ryan nor anyone on Earth knew. That was something only the Mechs knew and they couldn't tell because of the restriction placed on them.

Though the night was smooth for Ryan, it wouldn't be if anyone else was in his place. Why? He was not alone in his bed! On his right was a beauty who looked similar to Ryan, but a female. This was Alice! Which man of 18, would sleep freely when beauty is sleeping on his side? Some can, but not most.

Since Ryan wasn't that much perverted despite being a normal boy who preferred them, he was sleeping soundly along with the sleeping beauty. Who knew that this sleeping beauty could change Ryan one day in the distant future when even the Gods failed to do so...

The next day...

Ryan left his house towards the MA to take his next mission. He left after informing his parents that he might not come back for a day or two if such a situation arose.

Misty was reluctant to leave Ryan for a day. Just before Misty could voice her say, Tony held her hand and shook his head indicating to keep quiet and let Ryan go on his journey.

As such, Ryan left leaving behind a worried Mom and Dad and an encouraging sister.

In the Mech Association...

Ryan reached the Mission hall along with Sarah and began scrolling through the computers placed there to look for a suitable mission.

{Gather Holy tree branched

Reward: 200 Credits}

{Scout the Shinaga market and find hints about kidnapping

Reward: 700 Credits}

{Scout the Shinog tech company

Reward: 500 Credits}

{Copy down the old notes of a traveler

Reward: 300 Credits}

'The heck. Copying down? seriously? I wonder why the MA accepts such missions to be posted here. The scouting of Shinog tech is interesting. It's a big company and people are having bad intentions about them, huh? Lemme check the others.' Ryan thought and started browsing other missions.

{Find the kidnappers.

Reward: 1000 Credits (Basic)

'Oh! That's pretty interesting. First time seeing a chain mission and I heard their rewards would be better. I will take this as one of my missions.'

{Chop 3 Sandalwood trees

Reward: 100 Credits}

As such, there were numerous missions. Nothing except one caught Ryan's attention. As such, he picked the mission which made him interested.

{Find the kidnappers.

Reward: 1000 Credits (Basic)

Note: This is a chain mission!

Info: The kidnappers are lurking in Bridgestone City which is 10 miles away from this city. They are a group of 5 consisting of 5 men. They always travel as a group and wound be undercover. As per the intel, they are around the age of 20-30. They are kidnapping mainly women of age less than 35 and even small girls. As for what they are doing with the kidnapped people, no one knows.

Your job is to find the whereabouts of the kidnappers and their real intention. This will make the 1st chain mission successful. If you take pics of the kidnappers, the 2nd is a success. If the kidnappers are killed then, you will get 10k credits.

The last seen map of the kidnappers is attached.}

Ryan browsed through the information and his eyes became serious. He had a small doubt that the so-called kidnappers may not be essentially kidnappers and maybe r*pers. They might be doing such things to those poor young girls making their life a mess.

After he read through all these and thought of the vicious happenings, he was fuming his anger. He shared the info with Sarah whose eyes turned cold upon hearing these. Still, she was keeping her sanity while Ryan was troubling to do so.

Sarah held his hand and said in a soothing voice.

[Ryan, don't let these shits get into your head. We will bring the vicious souls to meet Lady Death.]

Even though Sarah's voice was soothing, there was a certain chill in her voice that would make people shudder. Since Ryan was already absentminded, he wasn't able to sense the chillness.

Ryan breathed out a mass of air and sighed.

"You are right. Nothing can be done with me just being angry. Let's leave fast and get those damn vicious souls to admire Lady Death's beauty while turning them into a corpse slowly..." The voice was chill as well as the face of Ryan.

This was a face that he never made before and would be his face in the future. As for why this face will be his sign in the future, that's a story for another day. A day when Earth falls and.......

With this thought, Ryan left the MA along with Sarah on their journey to Bridgestone City, the city of lights. The city, where even midnight will be alit and fuming with people. The city also knows by the name Sleepless City!
