CHAPTER SEVEN

She stared at the dress her husband got her. The dress was pretty. It was royal purple and looked just like the dress a princess would wear. Something glimmered in the corner of her room and she stood up from her bed to approach it. Her legs hurt badly and her knees still bled but she went on. When she got close, she gasped and hot tears poured down on her cheeks. They were beautiful. She picked up the gold necklaces and earrings, beside it were beautiful white pearls both as necklaces and silver laced earrings; she stood in awe of their beauty. Why was her husband spoiling her so suddenly? When was the last time her husband bought her anything not to talk of expensive jewelry? She let her tears flow for a moment and took the jewelries back to her bed. She sat down and continued examining these precious jewelry; Could this mean her husband still loved her?

"get dressed already and stop looking at them" her line of thought was interrupted by her husband's words. He was standing there by her room's door and giving her a disgusted stare. She got up immediately; he looked angry.

" I am sorry, I will get dressed now" she couldn't control her voice as it fluctuated showing her fear. She made her way into the bath tub in her bathroom.

"hurry up will you! I don't have all the patience in the world. Get to my chambers once you are done." She heard him call after her.

She entered her bathtub with a sigh. This expensive jewelry and clothing was not bought to express his love for her; he wanted something from her but just wanted to satisfy himself by packaging it beautifully. She must be a fool alright to think for once that this man loved her, cared for her. She eased herself in the tub relaxing her muscles, she needed to relax her mind and rid it of all the horrific things she imagined he will do to her this night. The more she tried, the more horrific the imaginations. She cried and got out of the tub. She had better dressed, heads would roll if he came to call her the second time. This night most certainly would be a long one.
