Damien pulls up outside my building, the car rumbling quietly as he turns off the engine. He glances at me, his eyes searching mine for a moment, and I can tell he's hesitant to let me go even after he sent someone to repair my door and replace the locks.
After last night, I can't blame him. I still feel Callum's hands on my neck, and even though Damien's been nothing but protective, the fear still lingers at the edges.
"You alright?" he asks, his voice softer than usual.
"Yeah," I say, managing a small smile. "Just… tired. I think I need a day to myself, you know? Something cozy. No drama."
He raises an eyebrow, his smirk just barely tugging at the corner of his lips. "Cozy day at home?"
I nod. "Yeah. Just me, some blankets, maybe a cheesy movie or two."
He doesn't look convinced. "If you're staying home, I'm leaving someone here to watch the place."
I blink, confused. "A bodyguard?"
