Brianna was woken up by a scream in the morning. She abruptly sat up, nervous and sweating, thinking that something was happening. However, what welcomed her wide-opened eyes was a wrestling match.
Melissa was down, her face flat on the floor, while an inmate unfamiliar to Brianna was sitting on Melissa's back, twisting her arms.
"F*CK! I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY! PLEASE DON'T BREAK MY ARM! ARGH!"
The scream was so loud that the inmates in the opposite cells were cheering on them. Brianna slowly scooched in the corner of her bed. She rubbed her eyes and looked away.
Melissa roared, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, BITCHES! HELP ME!"
Alice gulped and nervously answered, "H-Hey…Bi…boss, Melissa didn't know you were coming back today. She just fell asleep while cleaning your bed, yeah…she cleaned your bed every day so—
"That bullshit won't convince me, two-faced."
Brianna couldn't help but look at her new inmate. Her voice was cool and haughty, yet a satisfied grin was hanging on her face as if she was enjoying torturing Melissa.
"My pillows reeked of this woman's pus, and you dare say she was cleaning it? Hahahahaha," the woman stood and grabbed the pillow on Melissa's bed. Then, she turned Melissa over with a kick.
Melissa groaned, "NGH!"
Before she could bend down and rub her sides where she was kicked, the hard pillow struck her face so hard her neck turned to the other side.
A maniac laughter echoed in the room, followed by the sound of the hard pillow hitting Melissa's face incessantly.
"Do you smell it, tomboy! You stink, don't you? Gosh, I feel like puking just holding this goddamn pillow. Wash it, or else I'll break your fingers one by one. You'll know how it feels like if you dare act up again, right?"
Melissa nodded obediently. Alice flinched when the woman looked at her, seemingly scrutinizing if she did something similar. When the inmate found nothing, she turned to the figure on the corner.
Brianna flinched and averted her eyes. The inmate raised her eyebrow.
Throwing the pillow on Melissa's face, the woman straightened her back and walked to Brianna's bed. She slapped the wooden post of the bunk bed which made Brianna tremble tremendously.
Then, giggles erupted in the room. Curious, Brianna slightly looked up, only to find the woman's face inches away from her. Her eyes widened in terror, and the giggles became louder.
"We have a scaredy-cat here now, huh? Guess I won't be bored in the meantime," the inmate's wide smile that showed her gums and her eyes curved like crescents made Brianna shudder in fear.
Brianna felt like a devil was looking down at her. She quickly lowered her head, but her chin was cupped by a rough palm instead. She cringed from that simple touch which only earned an incredulous scoff from the unknown woman, as though she found Brianna's reaction quite amusing.
"Ey, ey, don't cry, scaredy-cat, I haven't done anything to you yet, why are you sobbing already? Aren't you too weak and innocent for this hellish place? What's your name? What did you do, hm? Got caught doing drugs? Stealing? Slandering? Hm, are you mute, why not answer?"
Brianna was too afraid to speak. Her words were caught in her throat, her expression went paler after the overwhelming presence of the woman before her exuded impatience. She tried to open her mouth and form words but ended up biting her tongue instead.
Brianna, "Mn!"
"What the? Did you just bite your tongue?" The inmate asked with disbelief. She turned to Alice and laughed, "Is she a f*cking fool? How did someone like her get in here?"
Alice immediately answered, "She attempted to murder her brother using poison."
"Whoa…seriously?" The woman gripped Brianna's jaw and pulled her head closer as she stared at her like a mad scientist checking her experimental subject. "Man~, you don't say…this kid looks like someone who can't even think bad of someone. You looked bullied already, but instead of glaring at me, you're crying instead. Tsk, tsk, such attitude won't last here, scaredy-cat. You should be baring your fangs to me and thinking of a way how to murder me now. Just like what you did to your brother!"
Something inside Brianna snapped. Her tired and frightened pupils dilated, and a bit of strength surged in her body. She pushed the woman forcefully. Taken aback, the woman did not expect Brianna's retaliation so she fell down on the floor, her butt hitting first, and she even slid a bit away.
Brianna screamed at the top of her lungs, "I AM NOT THE ONE WHO DID IT! I'M NOT A MURDERER! I'M NOT A MURDERER! I'M NOT LIKE YOU, PSYCHOTIC CRIMINALS!! GO TO HELL! GO TO HELL!"
Alice was beyond shock. Melissa looked as if she was witnessing a possession, while the woman on the floor gawked at Brianna. Soon, her surprised expression turned to a devilish grin, and then without warning, she lunged at Brianna, choking her to the wall.
Brianna fought back. Her broken nails scratched the woman to her face, but the latter even jumped on the bed and kneed Brianna to the guts.
Brianna, "I—geuk! Hngh! Let—
"STOP IT! RAISE YOUR HANDS, BIANCA ACOSTA!" The female guard came in and shouted. However, the woman called out did not move an inch, rather her smile only grew darker as she clawed her long nails on Brianna's neck.
Brianna gasped for air; her vision was blurry and wobbly, and soon darkness enveloped her consciousness.
On the other hand, three people tore Bianca away from Brianna. The former grinned at the guard and explained even without getting asked, in a terrifyingly innocent voice, "She pushed me. I just fought back."
The female guard glared at Bianca. She ordered the other two to let the deranged woman go and check on the unconscious Brianna. Thankfully, there was still a pulse. She asked a male guard to carry Brianna to the prison's infirmary and locked the cell's door afterward.
