Chapter 1.
The Truth
Becca for the past twenty years had been living a lie. Bobby would find ways to drug her on a full moon. He locked her in a special room where not even the tiniest bit of moonlight could penetrate the room. As werewolves, they could transform at will when they have had enough experience for control. They could transform accidentally when aggravated or were experiencing a sufficient sense of danger. They however transformed involuntarily during a full moon. The only way they could prevent transformation was to stay hidden from the moon.
As Becca grew older, his methods changed since she was getting wiser. Instead of drugging her, he cajoled her or bribed her into going into her other room. Even then, he listened if he could hear the breaking of joints, agonizing scream, or the growling and howling of a transformation. He had heard nothing!
"Becca, go to your other room now!" Bobby said, feeling his heart heavy with the pain of having to say the words.
"Why? I'm not done watching the show!" Becca protested, getting really annoyed. Becca was a beautiful and charming girl whose face was like that of an angel. Her eyes beamed as they glue stuck to the TV.
"I'm having a guest who will be here any minute Becca," Bobby said gentler, knowing that if he yelled any further and aggravated his niece the more, she might even turn before midnight. "She's my lover and she doesn't know anything about you. Please go to your room and stay quiet. I don't want you ruining my chances with her. I'll someday tell her about you when the time is right. "
"Whatever, you'd better start telling her about me. How come I never hear voices? You know what nevermind, she'd be gone in the morning right?"
Bobby did not respond to her question.
Becca went into her room and dropped herself carelessly on her bed. She heard the lock to the room door click from outside. She just didn't get her dad! Why would he not tell her about her mother? The only thing he told her was that her mother died in a car crash. Why was he keeping her a secret from his lover?
Sometimes he said he didn't know when, but he was expecting some really bad company to show up. He said he had been involved in a gang who were slowly being taken care of. However, they could show up on specific nights and he didn't want her to be caught up in any violence. On such specific nights when her dad felt the gangsters would come looking for him he would ask her to go to her other room.
Bobby stood outside of the room, then he slumped to the floor slowly with his back against the wall. Becca since she turned eighteen had been getting harder and harder to hide the secret from. He wasn't sure but then she seemed to be dreaming about a mate. She was sensing someone reaching out to her. She would run up to him asking if he had called her name. How was she mated? It was a good thing, yet it spelt disaster for him.
Bobby checked his watch and it was a few minutes to midnight. He was not an amateur and could very much transform at will. He would've very much liked to spy on Bella and her pack in human form, but he had no choice tonight. Under the full moon he would be transformed and it wasn't until he returned back home or till morning that he would be a human again.
He shapeshifted into his complete wolf form which was one of three forms he could take on. He could do partial transformation and then there was his human form. However in a night such as this when the moon was a round silvery ball of chaos he couldn't help but become a complete wolf. Confident that Becca was securely locked in her room he stepped into the night to track his other niece.

The house grew quieter as Becca listened. She had learnt about duplicating keys from her friend Trish whose dad was a locksmith. Trish had learned her father's craft from a tender age. She had been the one who helped Becca duplicate her room key. Becca inserted the duplicated key into the lock. She turned the key left and the first of the double lock engines opened with a loud click. She was a little more careful as she twisted the final turn which successfully unlocked the door.
She knew the door would make scraping sounds when opening since it was so damn near the ground. So she pulled it up with all her might and without it touching the ground she had the door ajar halfway. She walked on her tippy toes round the house. There was no sign of her dad or his lover.
Filled with a tremendous sense of fear she called out repeatedly, "Dad?"
Bobby, who hadn't gone too far away with his acute hearing sense in wolf form, heard Becca. He knew it was too late to do anything for her now.
Becca was immediately caught in the moonlight that filtered through the open window of her Dad's bedroom. Her knees buckled and she fell to the ground.
"What's happening with me?" she wondered aloud.
Her body twisted in an unexplainable position. Her bones snapped and broke into a million pieces. Her scream was so piercing that it would wake even the deepest sleeper about ten miles away. Then came the claws bursting out of her fingernails. The pain had been excruciating. Although, that had been half compared to when the fangs grew out from her gum. She howled in pain. Finally, she was healing and the pain though unbearable had transferred from her body into her mind. She was hungry. She ran in her wolf form and taking a dive, she bursted her way into the night through the glass window.
For Bobby he knew this spelt disaster. He hadn't prepared Becca for this. However, he had prepared for instances where she might have turned due to any other factor. He could smell her and so he tracked her down. He gave her a proper scare and soon she cowered into the forest. He drove her further and further into his territory where he had freshly killed animals in preparation for the night.
In his human form, Bobby had laid traps in his territory and memorized where not to step on. It wasn't long as soon as Becca had entered his zone that she stepped on one of the traps. A large metal cage with iron bars that were evenly spaced apart but only a few distance from one another descended to trap her. The rods were not wide enough for her to escape through.
Bobby tore up the flesh of the meat he had killed and took one portion of it to Becca in the cage. She took it and ate it greedily. Worried about her safety if left alone he aborted his previous mission of spying on his niece. He settled on his own meat and ate it all.
Becca after a while was feeling knocked out and so she slept. In the morning, Bobby had transformed into a human again, likewise Becca too. She was still sleeping and she was stark naked. Bobby had prepared clothes for himself in his tree house which he had built for himself. He barely had any difficulty climbing up to the house. He dressed up and was down on the ground with some clothes and a gallon of water.
The lifting up of the cage, the sound of metal gearing up, the early morning forest birds singing, had all woken her up. For a moment she was perplexed as to who she was, where she was and who was standing before her. Then the fog began to lift and she recoiled in shock when she really saw that who stood in front of her was her dad. Then she noticed she was stark naked because he was not gazing at her directly. She felt her face and when she stared at her hand she went pale seeing the sight of blood.
"What happened to me?" Becca said, sounding frightened.
"Relax, it's okay. I will explain everything to you," Bobby said, offering her the clothes. "First we need to go back home."
As Becca grew older, it would appear that her werewolf side was almost completely dormant. Bobby was even raising her as his own child. He protected her too much. From the werewolf world and from the truth. Nevertheless, truth had always found a way to rise if buried. Truth had always found a way to shine if kept in the dark.
"What are we?" Becca demanded, still sounding scared. However, she grabbed the clothes and gallon of water. She rinsed the blood off her face and hand. "What happened last night?"
"Becca, we must leave at once. It will be better if I explain it to you at home. I know it's frightening and everything seems confusing."
