Chapter 27: The Words Unspoken

Aurora's POV

As much as I wanted to avoid this, I knew it was inevitable. There was no way that after catching me with his grandma he would just let me leave without talking to him.

“What are you doing here?” he asked.

I shrugged. I felt like my tongue was tied in his presence and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to answer him if I wanted to.

“Aurora,” he pressed. His voice was stern as he waited patiently for me to answer. His eyes were anything but patient as he stood in front of me. He rested his back against the edge of the kitchen counter with his arms folded cooly over his chest.

“I was bored so I figured I’d go site seeing,” I lied. I looked at the floor, my eyes staring at the laces on my sneakers. I didn’t have it in me to look him in the eyes and lie to him.

“You’re lying. Do you want to know how I know you’re lying?” he asked. He pushed himself off the counter. I could hear his footsteps coming closer.
