"So, this man in a hoodie, watching Lily... Does he have a name?"

"Calls himself Pat. But it's not just at the club. There's a place over the road. A little cafe bar, a lot like this one. He sits at the window, as if he's just having a beer or a burger. But he's watching. I've seen him."

"He watches Lily? Her specifically?"

"Yes. He's not interested in the others. After Lily finishes at night, he leaves."

"If this Pat is interested in Lily, why doesn't he simply buy her a drink or two and take her home after she finishes? That's the usual routine, surely? Does she not want to go with him?"

Her face screws up. "Lily's a dancer, not a hooker. She doesn't take any of the customers home. She does her turn, two or three times a night, depending on the day of the week, then she goes."
