As soon as they were done speaking, the bus arrived. It was just them both at the bus stop and Vivienne helped the old woman up before stepping into the bus.
The ride home was silent. She plugged in her earbuds and listened to music as buildings and people whizzed past her. She thought about the old lady dozing off beside her and how she had spoken about a granddaughter.
Yes, she knew she tended to overthink things but what if she was the granddaughter she was talking about?
Maybe. Maybe not.
The bus stopped minutes later and she stepped down, bidding the woman goodbye.
