#Chapter68

/"I'll buy you breakfast when we're done, baby,/" Daddy promised. He still seemed half asleep, fighting against waves of drowsiness to stay alert. His jumper was on backwards, and I probably would have pointed it out to him if he hadn't already seemed so stressed.

/"Kaykay, Daddy,/" I whispered, sliding further into my seat, arms folding across my chest. We had been in such a rush that I hadn't even been able to grab one of my stuffies. Patch and Puddles got to have a lie-in!

The apartment we were viewing was across town from the farm, but only a twenty-minute walk from my mom's house. Less in a car. Small but quaint, holding a rustic charm, the front exterior of the building wasn't much, a crumbling design of identical patios, but the inside made up for it. There was a main lobby that had lottsa mailboxes and stairs, but the two apartments on the ground floor weren't the ones we had come to see.
