A call from father (22)

"Marcus, go get a shower and a cat nap. I'll stay here with her." Harrison said.

"Thanks Harry. I think I will. Call me if she needs me."

"I will," Harrison said. He could see the worry in his brothers eyes and would not scold him for calling him Harry.

He sat next to the sleeping Ariel and wanted to hold her real bad.

"Ariel, I just want to say I am really sorry for hurting you back then. I know you are not my Kimberly and that no one could replace her. It's just since I have gotten to know you, my heart has beat again. I loved the feeling of being in love again so much that I tried to rationalize it by saying you had Kimberly's heart. If you could just give me a chance to show you how much I really care for you I would make you the happiest woman alive. I also know, Lily loves you too and wants you to be her mother."

Ariel had woken up at the sound of his voice but kept her eyes closed as he spoke.

"You are one of the most beautiful woman I have seen in a very long time. A breath of fresh air. I know my brother also has feelings for you but I can give you so much more."

She listen to him and her heart moved but she really needed to pee so she acted as if she had just woken up.

"Harrison is that you?" She asked.

"Yes, do you need anything?"

"A nurse." she said .

"I can help you with what ever you need."

"No, this I need a woman please. No men allowed." she smile.

Then it hit him and he called for a nurse. While the nurse had her up, she help her shower and get cleaned up. Marcus had gotten a pretty nightgown and robe. Harrison then took her to the hospital park for fresh air.

"Where is Marcus?" she asked.

"He went home to shower and catch a nap. He was up with you all night." He said.

"He has been great. Tell me about your brother." she asked.

"Marcus is like my best friend. I was two when he was born. I would sneak into his room just to watch him sleep. My Father did treat him very fairly. I got the best of everything and he got what was left over. When he became friends with Kimberly I seen her a little sister. Then when my father found out who her family was, he started having more activities with her invited and I fell in love. When he told me he loved her I was so jealous that I told our father that he was trying to steal my girl and he was then sent away. I thought it was a boarding school but I later found out it was a bootcamp for bad kids. I had to beg father to let him come back. When he got back we were no longer close. When I married Kimberly he stood as her bridesman. Father was getting older and gave the company to me. I paid for Marcus to attend MIT and he started work for my company when he graduated.

The last three months of Kimberly's life, he ran the company for me as I spent my last days with my wife. When she asked to see him I lied and said he was out of the country. She wrote him a letter. It said that he would always be her bestfriend. He loved growing up with him by her side. She asked for him to always look after me and her baby girl. The next day her heart stopped and they put her on a life suport to keep her body alive for Lily. I regret not letting him talk to her one last time. He was heart broken but has kept his promise."

"Is your Mom and Dad still alive?" She asked.

"Yes, they are on a yacht somewhere on the ocean. I hear from them about once a month."

"Do they still treat Marcus like that?"

"Yes, Marcus would have nothing right now if not for me. I give him everything and can take it all away too."

Ariel now understood Marcus a little better. He was the casted out. The forgotten. He was also scared of losing the bit of life he held onto. This made her heart go out to him more because he had always been there for her.

As they sat there under a cherry blossom tree Marcus came back. "There you are beautiful. It's good to see you awake. Did you talk to the Doctor yet?" he asked.

"No, the nurse said he would be in to see around four. What happened?" she asked.

"You put a strain on your lungs by swimming. Why did you get in the water?"

"I felt good and its been almost a month. I thought just a little time would not hurt." Ariel looked down would she ever be able to swim again.

"Please take it slow. The Doctor said you will get back in the water if you don't push yourself to fast. I really want to see my Mermaid swim again." he smiled and it melted her heart.

"So what was you and Harry talking about?" he asked looking at his brother.

"About you and Kimberly. How you were best friends." Ariel said.

"She was one of the biggest tomboys around. We first met when she wanted the crayon I was using. She hit me right in the nose making my eye black. We became friends after that." Ariel could see love in his eyes as he spoke.

Just then Harrison recieved a call and walked a little ways off to take it.

"Hello Dad, how is everything?" he asked.

"Fine son, I got a message that your brother is running the Harborview parks. Why?"

"He's good at it."

"I was told that he just went there with out your guidance. Put a stop to it right now. I don't want a repeat of him taking over things that belong to you."

"All right, anything else?" Harrison asked.

"Have you found a wife and mother for our granddaughter yet. I heard you broke it off with Sarah Taylor Why?"

"Because she did not want to be Lily's mother and tried to hurt Lily. There is another girl I am intrested in but so is Marcus." Harrison explained not really sure why he brought his brother into it.

"Marcus does not deserve anything, so take her. I really don't know why you even let him stay in your house."

"He is my brother. Besides Lily loves him."

"Your Mother and I will be back in a few weeks for the big board meeting. Have everything ready by then."

Harrison now felt like a failure of a brother.
