The Son of Endeavor

Shoto Todoroki. The only things you know about him so far is that he's the son of the No°2 Hero, Endeavor, and his Quirk is Half-Cold-Half-Hot in which he shoots fire from his left side and ice from his right. You didn't know why he didn't use his left side during the duration of the sports festival.

"So, you brought us here. Now what?" You asked Todoroki in irritation as you crossed your arms and leaned against the wall facing him.

He didn't respond and that worsened your attitude towards him.

"Uh, we should probably eat soon." Izuku hesitantly states hoping to break the ice. "The cafeteria's gonna be busy. Don't you think?"

The icy hot bastard still didn't answer and Izuku gulped. His cold intimidation was way different from Katsuki. But you didn't care.

"I was overwhelmed." Todoroki finally spoke. "And it made me break the promise I made to myself a long time ago."

It would have given him such an advantage to use his left side. And yet... he didn't.

Todoroki lifts his left hand and stares at it. "Iida and Kaminari... Yaoyorozu and Tokoyami... Uraraka and Asui... Shoji... none of them felt it." You knew what he meant. Afterall, you felt it from Midoriya, but you tried to ignore it until now. "I was the only one who could sense your true power, Midoriya. It reminded me of something... Experiencing All Might's Quirk."

"Oh, yeah? Okay... is that all?"

What are you hiding, Izuku? You thought.

"I'm saying... The power coming from you felt the same as All Might's." Izuku had an anxious expression. As if he's afraid that Todoroki found something out. "Midoriya, tell me." Todoroki lowers his hand and stares at your friend intently. "Are you really All Might's secret love child or something?"

Is he... What!? No! That can't be it! But that would explain his behavior, his Quirk, your father's attention towards him, the fact that you've never seen Izuku's father the years you've known him. Did your father really have an affair with Inko and decided to spend more time with Izuku than with you?! Is that why you barely talk to him!? Is that why you can't call him "Dad" in front of other people!?

"I-Izuku... is that true...?" You whimpered out as tear droplets appeared in the corner of your eyes.

His eyes widened at your question and he frantically shook his head. "No, no, no, no, no! Himawari, that's not it at all! But I guess even if I was, I'd totally say I wasn't, but I'd never keep something like that from you if it was true, so you gotta believe me." He turns back to Todoroki after you calmed down. "Anyway, Todoroki, I promise, you've got the wrong idea. And... Why would you even think that about me?"

" "That's not it at all" is interesting wording. It suggests there is something between you two that you're not supposed to talk about. Not even to your closest friend." Your eyes showed how hurt you were because you knew what Todoroki said was true. Izuku didn't meet your eyes. He just looked down in regret apologetically. "My father is the Pro Hero, Endeavor. You must've heard of him. Which means you both are aware that he's the No°2 Hero." Todoroki narrowed his eyes at you. "So if you're the daughter of the No°1 Hero, All Might," He glanced at Izuku. "And if you're connected to him in some way... That would mean... that I have even more reason to beat you."

The more you listened to the icy hot bastard, the more your blood boiled. What the heck did you even do to this guy that made him hate you and your dad so much? You haven't even talked to him since you entered UA. And why the hell is he dragging Izuku into this!?

"My old man is ambitious. He aims for the top. He used his power to make a name for himself as a hero. But he was never able to best All Might, so the Symbol of Peace is living proof of his failure. He's still at it, though, trying to take down All Might. One way or another."

"I'm not really sure what you're getting at." Izuku says.

"Me neither." You agreed. "What are you trying to tell us, Todoroki?"

"Have you ever heard of... Quirk marriages? They became a problem in the first few generations after superpowers became widespread. There were those who sought out potential mates solely with the intention of creating powerful children. Many people were forced into relationships. They were simply viewed as old-fashioned arranged marriages. But, clearly, it was unethical. My father has not only a rich history of accomplishments, but plenty of money to throw at his problems. He bought my mother's relatives to get his hands on her Quirk. And now he's raising me to usurp All Might."

You and Izuku gasped in shock. You looked up to Endeavor because he also had a fire based Quirk. You always knew that he was mean, but was he really so obsessed with surpassing your father that he would initiate a forced Quirk marriage?

"It's so annoying." His eyes were filled with hatred and resentment, but not towards you. Towards his father as he continued with venom in his tone. "I refuse to be a tool for that scumbag. In every memory of my mother... I only see her crying." He slowly places his hand on his scarred area. "I remember she called my left side unbearable, before she poured boiling water on my face."

You were horrified. Endeavor, one of the heroes you admire, was the cause of your classmate's negativity. It's hard to believe, but why would Todoroki lie?

"The reason I picked a fight with you was to show my old man what I was capable of doing. Without having to rely on his damned fire Quirk." Todoroki removes his hand. "You see, I'm going to show him that I reject his power, and I can take first place without using it."

The two of you were completely different, yet similar. The life he's led is so different from yours. It's more terrifying. It's weird that you all are aiming for the same thing despite such different childhoods.

Todoroki walks away with his hands in his pockets. "You both are obviously connected to All Might. No matter how fiercely you come at me in the future, I will defeat you using only my right side. I can assure you of that, Yagi, Midoriya."

Now you know why Todoroki was so focused. He's like a character out of a novel. A protagonist with a tragic background. Fighting to rise above it.

"Hey, wait!" Izuku called out as he ran up to Todoroki, who stopped in his tracks. "I'm only here because others have supported me. I've been really lucky. In fact, I've had even more help since I've come to UA. All Might is constantly saving people with a fearless smile. He's the greatest hero. And I wanna be just like him. In order to do that, I have to be strong enough to become number one. I know my motivation might seem stupid compared to yours. But, still, I can't lose this, either. I owe it to everyone who's supported me to try my best. You declared war on us earlier. Well, right back at you. I am going to beat you."

Todoroki leaves after Izuku was done talking and you left the scene in the opposite direction. You noticed your boyfriend as you were about to turn a corner.

"Katsuki! How much of that did you hear?"

"Tch. You three were talking so loudly that it's hard not to hear." Katsuki remarks as you started to walk together. "Also, I already knew that your dad was All Might."

Your eyes nearly bulged out of you head. "What?! When-- How did you--"

"It was back when you lost it awhile back. When I found it, I looked inside and saw the picture. And then there was our date. When you talked about your dad being a Pro Hero, it confirmed my suspicions." You mentally facepalmed over your own carelessness. Todoroki did spill your secret before you entered the stadium, but it was your own irresponsibility and Katsuki's keen observation that revealed your secret to your boyfriend. "Here." Katsuki handed you a bottle of water. "You'll need it for the next round."

You smiled at your boyfriend and took a sip from one of the bottles of water.

The final event of the sports festival is a tournament. Ojiro and a student from Class 1-B withdrew from participating in the tournament because of Shinso's Quirk. Your female classmates were tricked into wearing the cheerleader uniforms because of Kaminari and Mineta. Luckily, you were too busy talking to Todoroki to become an additional victim to their perverted prank.

Your first match was against Yuko Horikoshi, the girl who helped you a lot during the Cavalry battle. She tried to move you out of the ring with her Portal Quirk, but you were able to turn the tables and win.

"Congrats on winning your first match, Yagi!" Hagakure excitingly says from her seat.

You sat down next to Katsuki and kissed his cheek. He puts his arm over your shoulders.

"Thanks, Hagakure." Your friend is invisible 24/7, so you obviously can't see her facial expressions. Despite that, you can tell that she's happy for you because of the tone in her voice.

"Horikoshi sure gave it her all." Tsu adds and you agreed.

"Deku's match is up next." Said Uraraka.

"Yeah." You turned to Ojiro. "What do you know about Shinso's Quirk?"

You remembered that you tailed classmate was a part of Shinso's team during the Cavalry battle.

"He has a brainwashing Quirk." Ojiro looked at the arena with a serious expression. "Hopefully, my advice will help Midoriya win."

During Izuku's match, Shinso provoked Izuku which allowed him to activate his brainwashing Quirk. He commands your friend to walk out of the ring, and just when Izuku was one step away from losing, he somehow broke free from Shinso's control. Just like you did in your match, he turned the tables at the last minute and won. After Izuku joined you and your classmates after getting checked by Recovery Girl,  it was time for Sero's match against Todoroki. It was over in less than a minute. Todoroki made a massive ice wall that covered half of the stadium to stop Sero in his tracks. The entire audience shouted "Nice try!" to Sero, hoping that it would lift his spirits, while Todoroki melted the ice. Kaminari was up against Shiozaki, the vine girl from Class 1-B. He lost and that Monoma guy mocked your class because of it. Another girl with orange hair knocked him out, but you hated that guy the moment he acted smug. Iida was used by that Hatsume girl from the Support Course as a tool to advertise her inventions. You felt completely sorry for him. Ashido won her match against Aoyama, Tsu lost her match against Shoji, and Yaoyorozu lost her match against Tokoyami. Kirishima's match was a draw. When it was time for Katsuki and Uraraka's match, Katsuki didn't hold back and the crowd booed at him. Your glad that Mr.Aizawa shut them all up because this is a tournament. None of you should be going easy on each other. Uraraka used the debris to distract Katsuki, but he easily blew it up, and in the end, she lost.

"I feel bad for Uraraka." You sorrowfully said as you walked down the hallway with Izuku to see Uraraka.

"Yeah." Izuku replied sadly.

You ran into Katsuki as he was walking up the stairs.

"Hey, Kacchan!" Izuku exclaimed.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Katsuki asked Izuku in anger.

"I wanna check on Uraraka." You replied casually. "Oh! Congratulations on winning your match."

"And, uh, well. I'm up next, so, you know." Izuku stuttered out. "I was gonna hang in the waiting room. Um, also congrats on winning your match. See you 'round."

Izuku nervously walked away with stiff movements.

"It was your idea, wasn't it?" Katsuki asked Izuku as he made it all the way up the stairs. "That stupid, desperate plan of hers." Izuku stopped. "You would come up with something that annoying. If we end up--"

"You're wrong." Izuku cut him off and glared back at your boyfriend. "That plan. Uraraka came up with it all on her own, I didn't know anything about it. If that battle was harder than you thought it would be, then it's because of her strategy, not mine."

Izuku walks away and Katsuki growled.

"You did the right thing. Not holding back." You told your boyfriend. "It would be disrespectful if you held back any power during this event, so just ignore all that jeering."

"Yeah. I don't need you to remind me that."

You smiled. "Heh. Yeah, okay. I'll meet you back at the stands with our classmates in a minute."

You pecked your boyfriend on the lips and went to see Uraraka. Just when you were about to enter the room she was in, the door suddenly opens.

"Himawari! I'm so sorry! I-I'm so sorry! I almost hit you with the door!" Izuku frantically apologized.

"It's okay. It's okay. You didn't do it on purpose." You reassured. "How's Uraraka doing?"

"Uraraka is doing fine!" Uraraka responds in the third person.

Izuku moved away so that you can get a better look at Uraraka. She was giving you a thumbs up while she was smiling with a bandage on her face. You knew she was putting on a brave face and was actually upset about her lost. You would be upset too if you lost any of your matches.

"You did great out there. You should feel proud that Katsuki didn't hold back. Everyone in the audience saw you as a frail girl, but he didn't." Uraraka looked at you in bewilderment. "We have to give it our all in this tournament. If one of us holds back, it would be disrespectful to our opponents and this whole event would've been meaningless. If your parents saw your match, I believe they would be proud of you whether you won or lost, Ochaco."

Hearing your heartfelt speech made Uraraka burst into tears. You gave her your handkerchief to wipe her tears away. Before the sports festival began, she told you about her parents and the reason why she wants to become a pro hero. It made you respect her more. You heard Present Mic mention that Kirishima won his match and that Izuku's match was up next. You and Izuku left when Ochaco received a call from her dad.

"What you said to Uraraka... it was just what she needed." Izuku said.

"I'm glad." You smiled.

The two of you were then met by a tall figure. The hero costume and flames were a dead giveaway and he had eyes that reminded you of Shoto Todoroki's.

"Endeavor?" You both exclaimed.

"Ah. I was looking for you, Yagi." Endeavor said.

You were surprised that the Flame Hero knew your name and you felt a bit excited that he was looking for you. "Okay. What do you need, sir?"

Endeavor took a step forward and pointed at you.

"Your power. It's a weaker version of your mother's Quirk and it has no relation to All Might's. However, your friend here is a different story" You were hurt by his words. He then lowered his hand and stared at Izuku, who flinched at his intense eyes. "Your power is pretty impressive. To create so much wind pressure just by flickering your fingers. In fact, you seem to have much in common with All Might than she does."

At that moment, you felt your anger and frustration simmer. You finally understood why Shoto Todoroki hated his father so much and you no longer doubted what he told you about his father.

You turned your back to Endeavor and walked away.

"It's my Shoto's duty to surpass All Might as the No°1 hero." You stopped in your tracks. "And his match with Midoriya will be a good testing ground for how much training he has left."

Before you allowed him to spew more crap, you gritted your teeth and leered at him.

"Look here, Endeavor." You hissed. "I can't control all of the natural elements like my mother, and I can't create strong wind pressure with one punch like my father, but I'm not a weakling. Say what you want, think what you want. I don't give a damn about your opinion. I'm strong in my own right. I am not my father. And the same goes for Todoroki. He may be your son, but he isn't you. Don't treat him like a tool for your own personal goal. And FYI, you'll never surpass All Might while you're still a fucked up father with a shitty personality."

Endeavor's flames rose with rage at your last sentence, but you didn't care. You wanted to get all that out of your chest. When you returned to your classmates, Katsuki noticed your change of attitude, but he didn't pry.

You admired heroes just like your classmates and any other person out there. But Endeavor... the No°2 Pro Hero who was obsessed with surpassing All Might, the father who saw his own son as a tool to accomplish his own dream. This is the first time... you actually felt this much hatred and resentment towards a hero...
