Prologue: The Maracaibo Raid made a Phoenix

In 1669 Tena Amberwood is caught in an unsuspecting raid led by Herny Morgan, she was only 5 years old, and her family was killed because of Captain Herny Morgan. When he arrived in Maracaibo, the Spanish men had prepared for that moment. They had rebuilt the fort and staffed it with soldiers and artillery. They even blocked the only outlet to the open sea. Morgan sent one of his men to demand a ransom for the city, but Admiral Don Alonzo de Campo y Espinosa stood his ground. Refusing to pay the ransom of 20,000 pesos resulted in a large battle over weeks,

Morgan controlled all the ships and the city of Maracaibo, but Don Alonso managed the only exit the buccaneers had. Don Alonso went against what the citizens wanted the citizens wanted to get rid of the pirates. he faked a night attack by sending his ships to Alonso full of men; then, when the vessel headed back, the men lay flat so Alonso would believe they had gotten off. They would arrive with more men while the pirates stood, then head back with the pirates lying down. Don Alonso believed that he would be attacked on land since he assumed the men had gotten off the ship. Alonso sent all his men to protect the fort along the landside, which allowed Morgan to set sail and slip out of the channel.

Orphaned in the city of Maracaibo, she was made into a slave. Tena was sold to the Pirate Edgar 'Iron Fist' Zell and taken from Maracaibo. For the next few years, Tena works on Edgar's ship as a swabbie mopping the decks every day. It is currently June 1, 1690. Captain Edgar and the crew are making their way to the Indian Ocean. As the rough waves slam into the side of the ship, Tena stumbles knocking the mop bucket and spilling the water over the deck. "Ahoy, what are you doing making more of a mess, the captain said to get this done smartly." one of the members of the crew says kicking her while she is down. "Head to the berth, you are getting in the way up here." thrown below deck, Tena limps to her living quarter.

In the far corner, a pile of hay lays there. Tena lets out a sigh laying down as she thinks to herself, "Is my life going to be like this forever, to only be at the beck and call of arrogant men?" in the pile of hay Tena is weak and malnourished from not being fed regularly. falling asleep Tena receives an oracle. In the oracle, she sees a figure with fiery red hair similar to hers, conjuring and plundering ships and fighting pirates. While seeing these figures and images, a benevolent voice speaks to her "My child of the ashes, soon it will be time for you to be reborn. Take flight as the phoenix you are supposed to be, the road to freedom is close my fiery child." suddenly she is woken up by sudden splash water. "

Standing above her holding a bucket. Captain Edgar shouts, "wake up! go and clean the deck! you savvy?" looking around still surprised Tena notices that it is nighttime "I slept all day?" she thinks to herself suddenly she is hit a crossed her face "Arre ye listening! I said to clean the deck." Captain Edgar tells her "Aye sir" Grabbing a mop and bucket Tena goes to the main deck, stepping from inside the ship Tena looks into the night sky before she starts. Some time passes and Tena finishes cleaning the deck, exhausted from work she walks to the bow, staring over the edge at the sea, and listens to the wave crashing.

3 weeks pass on their journey to the Indian Ocean, it is June 18, and Captain calls Tena to the stern. in the captain's office, Captain Edgar sits at his desk "How old Arre ye this year?" he asks Tena ".... I... I should be 21 this year." sitting silently Captain Edgar "mmhmm good, from today onward ye shall serve me." Captain Edgar says rising from his chair. Tena is taken aback by Captain Edgar's statement stepping back a little bit. "Where ye think you're going!?" rushing over the captain grabs Tena's arms stopping her from leaving. reacting she swings scratching Captain Edgar's face, "Urgh You Bitch!" Captain Egar begins to choke Tena slamming her onto the wooden floor and then climbing on top of her and hitting her. "You damn slave!" covering her face Tena takes repeated blows to the body, waiting for a chance she then knees Captain Edgar in his privates taking hold of his coat and headbutting him, making his nose bleed.

Captain Edgar stands up and draws his cutlass from his hip, " I should just kill a worthless thing like you!" stumbling to her feet with her back turned to him she says "No... the worthless one is you" suddenly Captain Edgar hears the clinking sound of the loading of a flintlock, he looks down to his holster to see that it's missing. When he looks back up Tena is pointing the flintlock at his head, before he can do anything she shoots blasting a hole through his head. the sound startles the rest of the crew, and they make their way. Tena reloads the flintlock and then grabs the captain's hat along with his coat. walking around the desk she sits in the chair looking at the door in thought, "I need to think carefully and play my cards right."

Moments later the crew burst into the room, seeing their captain lying dead on the floor "What's going on here!", "The Captains Dead!!" the crew members look at the desk and see Tena standing with the captain's hat and coat on. "I am the New Captain of this ship now, you guys have only two options. Either walk the plank and join your former captain or work or me as my crew." Tena shouts at the crew as she stands above the corpse of Edgar. one of the crew members responds laughing "you think that you can take this ship just by killing our capta..." Tena shoots the member speaking interrupting what he was saying. "I SAY YOU EITHER JOIN ME OR DIE!!!!" Tena shouts with a menacing tone looking into their eyes as he picks up the cutlass off the ground.

intimidating them the rest of the crew dumps Edgar's body along with the random crew member in the sea leaving them. In the stern Tena chances clothes finding some better pants to wear, holstering the cut and the flintlock pistol. "Today is the start of the Crimson Pirates..."
