Chapter – 6: Mayor

After a good night's sleep, he woke up and started preparing to visit the love of his life.

Finishing his breakfast at the dining hall in the inn, he exited the inn and followed the way to the mayor's mansion. The streets are bustling with common people and occasional mercenary teams.

While he was going to mayor, he was stopped by Bran mercenary team. He saw the same team and everyone was wearing hunting attire. He knew they are up to the business. He greeted them and they reciprocated the same but certain someone is having a problem talking to him and seeing him.

Bran: "We are going for another mission. Are you free? Want to join us?". If peter agrees they will earn a big buck again this time.

Peter: "I would have, but I got a business to do. So, probably next time."

His rejection might be a little disappointing but they will have it another time.

Elina: "E-Excuse me, a-are y-you free for tonight?"

Peter and everyone looked at her with a shocked expression towards her. Elina understood her words might be misleading so she spoke again with a bright red face.

Elina: "P-peter, I didn't mean that, m-my mother said to invite you to a meal as thanks for your help. S-so can you come to my house tonight?" She asked it with great difficulty though.

Peter thought for a moment and decided to visit her house but he doesn't want to create false hope as he can understand by seeing her face that she is probably feeling the same as he felt yesterday. Love at first sight. `Ahhhhhhh` he doesn't know what to do. If he was the same as trash in the capital, he would have accepted her but he has no knowledge about love, and even when he has already found one. He decided that he will deal with it when he visits her tonight.

Peter: "Ok. I will wait at the inn, come and pick me up at 7 o'clock." He said goodbyes to them and went off his way.

When Elina heard his reply, she overjoyed and felt her heartstrings pulled together. She decided to prepare the dishes by herself. Then, the mercenary group marched towards the exit of town.

But when peter moving away from them, he felt that he is missing something very important. He stopped immediately; he turned around and looked towards the team, who are moving happily towards the exit. `is it something going to happen to them, or am I feeling things?` He shook his head and left his way.

But he left a strand of consciousness on them and a little bit of his mana in Elena's body. He may be a prince but never once he was a careless person but more of a cautious person. If not for his carefulness, he would have been exposed his cultivation to his father and other experts behind him.

When he reached the mansion gate, he was stopped by guards.

Guard A: "Stop right there! What business do you have behind the gates?" The guard seems to belong to the haughty type.

Peter looked at him and lifted his eyebrows a little. The guard collapsed on his knees and started shaking terribly.

Guard B understood the situation, didn't say anything but went into the mansion and informed the mayor immediately. Mayor thought for a moment said to invite peter.

Guard B: "Honorable sir, please forgive the ignorant servant." When Peter heard him, he snapped his fingers and the pressure was gone. "This way, Please", Guard B invited him into the mansion.

After reaching the spacious hall, he saw a man around his late forties having a worried look sitting on the sofa. Immediately, peter thought of killing him as he can have her to himself. But he knew if he did that her heart might break. So, he calmed down and decided to put a friendly approach. `Have some peace in your last days fatass.`

Mayor: "Hello!, I'm Bino Rantom! Mayor of the town." He stood up and greeted as he thought that he must be an expert cultivator to be able to put his guard on his knees with just as lifting his brows. He maybe mayor but messing with powerful experts may even lead to death itself. `It's better to safe than sorry.`

Peter: "Hello! I'm peter and a mercenary." He reciprocated with the same enthusiasm. If the mayor has been angry or displeased even a little bit, he might have to take a different action.

Bino: "I didn't expect that a powerful cultivator like yours is visiting my abode. Please don't mind the misbehavior of the servant."

Peter: "It's okay, he is just attending his duty, not his fault though."

Bino rolled his eyes to his reply. If it's just as you said why did you pressure him until he pissed in his pants.

Bino: "What's the reason for an expert like you to visit me?"

Peter: "I heard some rumors in the town and decided to know if I can be any help."

Bino thought for a while, he is hesitating whether to tell him the truth and give him the mission or not. He decided to tell his whole situation and it may help him get out of the crisis he is facing currently.

Bino started explaining, the truth is, he doesn't have any treasure with him and he is not targeted by BSO(Blood Skull Organization). He was targeted by someone, who might be an old rival of his, that person spread the rumors around the town and he must be wanted to blame BSO as prime suspect which helps him escape from the radar of investigation. Thus, the mayor commissioned BSO to protect him from any assassination attempts. They accepted it after having some agreements.

Peter: 'Oh! So, they are just rumors! How unfortunate!' He lamented for his loss. And he asked him "Whom should I be protecting? Is it just you or family also?"

Bino: "Me and my family."

Peter: "Please show them to me, so that I can identify them when needed." He is very eager to see her.

Boni agreed to it even though the request seems to be a bit early, but it is reasonable.

After a while, all his family members came. His wife and his only son came with him. After seeing his family members, peter got shocked and started to think if anyone is playing with him.

He gestured and said that is enough. After sending off his family members, peter asked if he had any wives or concubines. Mayor replied that he has only one wife and one child. Peter even thought that Elf lady may be a servant but that is definitely an absurd idea. He revised the story told by him and found that he missed major information that someone from BSO is assigned to protect him.

Peter: "Previously, you mentioned that you have requested BSO to protect you and they have assigned someone. So, can I meet that person so that I can extract any clue or something useful."

Bino fell into deep thought, whether to mention further about BSO or not. He already revealed more than what he intended to, further revealing may not change much of the output.

Bino: "Actually that person is a level – 8 cultivator but yesterday at nighttime she informed that my enemy might be a very high-level cultivator and she requested to update the conditions of the agreement, but I already spent much on them for past days. So, I said I can't handle anymore of the cost. Thus, she said that my agreement ends here with BSO and she left at very night.

Peter: "No problem, i can procure the information needed. So, don't worry." He said it with great difficulty and left a strand of consciousness in him. He didn't even talk about payment.

His mind is in mess right now. He first depressed and despaired then his emotions riled up and anger started to take over him. He fucking made a mistake. He knew, to find the assassin without even knowing their name is finding a needle in a haystack. Even though she is from BSO, no one discloses their assassin's identity.

As if answering his call to vent over his anger, the consciousness he left in Bran's group came knocking in his mind. He understood the situation and he immediately teleported from there to the bran's location with a devilish face, which is carving for blood.
