Invasion

Two weeks had gone by since Ochieng' was taken away. A few hours after the incident, just when Mboya and the others were to be cleansed so as to save mankind, not only was the Holy Chamber torn down, the entire Hall of Righteousness collapsed as soon as everyone was safe outside. This had led to a loss of wealth that had been accumulated for thousands of years.

The Great Saint managed to save Mboya and the others and so were never harmed. Right now, Mboya, Okeyo, Mwiga, Apeleka and the others were fully recovered from what befell them. They were standing around a lifeless body alongside other chosen witches and wizards. Of all the people who fled the Hall, the head remained for he could not dree seeing the place he valued most turning to ruins. He ended up turning into a mince during that catastrophe. The chosen ones then brought his body parts together through magic so as to bury their him venerably.

Everyone here wore a sad face. Not far away were ruins of what they had considered home for seasons now. From the east, the roaring waves of the Ndia ocean entered their ears without hindrance. A six feet deep large rectangular hole was nearby, a clear indication that in a moment, they were going to send their leader home. The atmosphere also decided to join them in that bad time. The sky was covered with thick dark clouds dropping the temperatures around them.

For the last two weeks, these men and women had been sitting around these ruins trying to understand why things had to go against them. Others like Mboya and his counterparts had been recuperating. Some searched for the remains of their esteemed leader. Only after about ten days did they succeed. This had made these special people feel lost. That was the man they all looked up to.

"He was a very good friend since we were children. As we grew up, Wafula Amanya worked hard to be the greatest man in the history of his tribe. One day, a man visited us claiming that we were gifted people. Wafula followed immediately. We were brought to Hall of Righteousness where we were trained to be responsible and great people. Being aggressive and determined in everything he did, Wafula walked by the thirty fifth Ordainer's side. He saved many lives outside his tribe during that period of time. After the death of his master, Wafula was chosen to be the head of the Hall of Righteousness. He served us well till his death..."

A man standing before the crowd eulogized tearfully.

Not many wanted to talk about Wafula. After the man finished his panegyric, Wafula's body was gently taken to his grave where he was buried to meet his ancestors.

"What next?"

After all was done, a woman's voice sounded. The voice was loaded with helplessness and bitterness.

Everyone turned to the general guardian, a man who had been reduced to nothing but a powerless Saint. He was only left with one last ascendancy to the saint land to enjoy his endless life. Seeing every look on him, the guardian only sighed before shaking his head with a soft, 'I don't know'.

...

The Lord of darkness had been on top of the world after he learned that he had succeeded in making a passageway between the dark world and Keniya. This had been his dream for a long time now. What delighted him the most was the fact that the Ordainer had been captured. He was sure his sister was having a hard time living.

Three days ago, he had sent a message to his people to start marching to Keniya. The subordinates gave the orders and currently, a lot of Black Fiends boarded a ship that transported them to human's land. The barrier was on an ocean. It isn't surprising that they used such means.

A large ship had successfully crossed the barrier between the two worlds. It was moving at an average speed towards Keniya. The winds were moving gently towards the west, making gentle waves beat the bottom of the ship as it moved towards the direction of the wind. The waves also made the ship dance beautifully on top of the water. Birds of different types and sizes sang joyfully as they flew anyhow on top of the vessel. The sun was almost sinking in the eastern horizon.

Inside the ship, creatures with heads like hyena were packed. Their eyes were glowing with excitement. Most of them were salivating with their forked tongues unknowingly hanging outside. For a long time, they had lived in their dull world eating insipid foods. This had made some of them eat each other, what was a taboo in the dark world. With such conditions, it is not an exaggeration to say that their general health was also deteriorating. Presented with an opportunity to have what they considered the most delicious, even their stomachs started rumbling.

Every Ordainer had to fight these creatures in their life. That was their main responsibility. These monsters appeared in Keniya in the past and the Ordainers succeeded in killing those trespassers. While they were many, they were only limited to those who went through the the difficult way. It is true to say that they only represented an infinitesimal percentage of the Black Fiends they left back home. With an opening in the barrier, all the Black Fiends living in the dark world were presented with an opportunity to go to Keniya. This meant that they might outnumber the humans and that was a bad news to the latter.

Oblivious to what was yet to befall them, the humans were busy cultivating their lands, harvesting their crops, performing rituals, et cetera. Life was normal in Keniya. Those who used to drink, drank like the next day would never come, the thieves were making their own plans, the night runners were running up and down naked. It must be said that not even the seers saw what was ahead of them. They were busy helping the tribe heads prepare for a war they knew nothing about. This was all the doing of the Lord of darkness. He wanted victory without a fight, and from the looks of it, he was closer to it than ever.
