Chapter 0004:It Still Hurts.

"What?"

Grace said and stood up in shock after hearing everything from Ariana. The young fellow had suspected as much that something was wrong with her friend, because she panicked when she went to the location she gave her and couldn't find her there.

She called her phone but it was switched off. At first, she thought of going to Andrew's house to confirm whether she was in there, but the guards didn't let her in at the mention of Ariana's name.

"That jerk!" Grace cussed out while Ariana sat in front of the mirror combing through her hair with a hairbrush. She didn't know who exactly Grace was cursing at, was it Andrew or Harry Smith, who had kidnapped her.

Grace didn't seem to believe her when she told her about Harry Smith, the chief secretary to Knights Corporation. Ariana reminded herself to search up the name tomorrow to know who this Alexander Knights was, that wants to marry her.

Yet, she couldn't help but not feel inquisitive to know if what Harry smith was saying is the truth, yet, every time she thinks about the part where she discovered that he did a background search on her, it made her feel creepy about it.

That's not something new to the rich, Andrew's mother did a background search on her too, hence, that was when she discovered that she was poor as a church rat, and deemed her unworthy to be her daughter-in-law.

It hurt especially hearing those insultive words that left Andrew's lips that were being directed at her. But this was a lesson well learned, and she won't fall victim another time towards trying to fulfill her dream of marrying the man she's in love with.

If anything, Ariana figured out that she's the reason why things turned out this way. Andrew's mother never really supported the idea of adding her to their family, Andrew himself has exuded this mentality of always sticking towards whatever his mom said.

She has been the one who ignored those signs with the belief that things will be different once they get married. So, she blamed it all on herself and wiped the tears that formed in her eyes before Grace could see it.

"Don't worry, karma will catch up with him in no time for what he's done to you," Grace said, coming behind to hug her as the two stared at themselves in the mirror. "You still have me, Ari. There's nothing that's going to separate the both of us." Grace said, trying to lighten up her mood and to make her forget about everything for just this night.

"Thank you so much, best friend." Ariana smiled at her, while holding her hand. She didn't know what she could have done without her.

She left the orphanage the moment she turned eighteen without knowing her left and right, where to go? How to start up her life from the pitch. Grace has found her sleeping at a building site under the rain one night and ever since then, she has shown her what it truly means to have a motherly figure in her life.

Grace was three years older than her, yet she still treats and talks to her like they were the same age. She didn't want to let her feel uncomfortable around her and that's why she did it.

Not only were they orphans, Grace's story was different from hers. Her parents died in a car accident when she was ten and all her relatives did was to steal her parents property and left the girl with her sick grandmother at the village.

After the death of her grandmother, Grave had no other reason to come to the city to survive on her own. She had no idea where her relatives was, neither do they still know that she's still alive. Grace believed that God will surely bring one of them, her way through a miracle and when they do come her way, they will pay for taking everything away from her and leave her to die from hunger.

But it was different with Ariana. All she knew is that she was abandoned at the front gate of the orphanage. That's all.

"But i have thought about what you said about this 'Harry' guy, why don't we report it to the police? I mean he literally kidnapped you to say all that nonsense to your face." Grace said, getting angry once again at this unknown stranger, that she couldn't help but wished that she arrived on time to beat the hell out of him for kidnapping her friend.

Ariana turned to face her. "I have thought about it and decided to let it go. I don't want to stress myself further with the talk of a crazy stranger. I just want to make my own money and be happy."

"What if he comes around? Trust me, I won't mind reporting it to the police then." Grace said, lying down on the bed while looking at Ariana.

"He won't do that, I'm sure of it that he won't stalk me no more. I mean i might be swimming in debts but i still have a conscience. Why would i want to marry this 'Alexander' guy? What if he's a serial killer? A rapist or some old pot bellied man?" Ariana said, making a disgusted face at her last statement before lying on the other side of the bed, and covered herself with the bedsheet.

"I'm sure that i have heard that name somewhere, 'Alexander Knights'." She heard Grave say, but she was too tired to keep up with the conversation with her. The most important thing is that she already warned Harry to stay away from her.

If he does as much as to not heed to her warning, only then she won't mind taking things further by reporting him to the police. He might be rich but that doesn't mean that he looks down on the poor. That's the reason why she despises his kind.

She switched the lamp off and darkness filled the room, "Goodnight bae." She heard Graves said and before she knew it she was out like a light. Grace was such a heavy sleeper.

Ariana tossed around the bed while trying to find a comfortable position to sleep, but her insomnia has nothing to do with finding a better position to sleep with. She couldn't sleep, not without her mind being a battlefield with lots of thoughts going on in there.

She felt like she wasn't doing enough with her life, and for Andrew to make it worse for her by what he did? Before she knew it she was crying once again but this time she covered her lips so as to not wake up Grace.

It hurts.

It still does no matter how much she tries to act like she's okay. It was not okay. Why is her life so difficult?

That night, Ariana cried herself to sleep hoping that the next morning that she will be a better version of herself.

How’s the story?
