The Lazy Assassin

The world changed and humanity restarted civilisation. Monsters mutated from animals and roamed the world slowing the growth of mankind. Hunters and Adventurers were made official to help chart the world again. As they kill monsters, there are those who kill humans. Assassins were born when helpless citizens wanted revenge from the injustice they had received. Many Assassins rush out on jobs to quickly earn money as some people pay high prices for their requests. Ace, on the other hand, is an Assassin who hates to work. Although many thought he was weird, they eventually found out that he loved to go on vacations and spend his time sleeping or lazing under the sun. He was then nicknamed the (Lazy Ass)assin. Here, his story begins.

The sun rose in the distance and clouds parted as if welcoming a king back. Residents of HelmsDeep came out of their homes while shops opened up and guards changed with those who have returned from their night patrols. The entrance was still closed since there was still no news on the killer running wild.

A girl slept soundly on the bed ignoring the bustling sounds from the streets. A man was wearing his clothes that seems like it was just washed yesterday. At the counter a waitress was cleaning up when she saw him, "Hi sir, you seem fresh today, what would you like?".

"Had good night at your Inn", the man replied with a slight smile. "A couple of breakfast sets and an extension for my stay here", he ordered to the waitress.

"I apologise sir but there is a couple who needs a room here and they are coming today. The other rooms are also booked due to the sudden arrival of adventurers and heroes", the waitress replied giving a sad expression.

"They can take mine", a familiar voice sounded from behind him. "Are you sure girl? If I'm not wrong you still have two more nights here. There won't be any refunds", the waitress told the girl that was walking over. "It's ok, I have a place to stay already" she replied as she stood beside the man beside her blushing.

The waitress gave a surprising look before she composed herself. "Alright then, I'll get the documents ready, please wait awhile for your food". The waitress walks off towards the kitchen still having the surprised look on her face.

"You're vicious", she said pinching his arm. "You asked for it", Ace nonchalantly replied. Sitting down he continued, "didn't expect you to be a virgin though". "I told you from the start didn't I?", the girl replied her face becoming bright red.

"Thanks", Ace said as he drank a cup of ale. She stares at him for awhile before giggling to herself. "What?", he questioned after finishing the cup. "Even with a skin mask on, you have the kindest eyes I have ever seen", she replies. "And that's funny to you?" Ace retorted. "Nope, what's funny is you're a killer even with those eyes", she answered while still gazing at his face smiling. "Alright alright, the food is coming", Ace changed the topic as he saw the waitress coming over.

Back in the room the pair sat side by side looking at each other. "Are you sure about this?", Ace asked as he places his knife on her shoulder. "Yes Master, I'm yours now and I wish to go wherever you go no matter what, even till I die", she solemnly answered. "This is not necessary though, to have my insignia on you", he muttered as he engraved on her skin.

"Before we go, what are your abilities?", Ace asked, "If I'm not wrong, Jack said something about mental energy or something like that".

Suddenly, his katana lying beside him started floating around, spinning and flying across the room before setting down on the bed.

"I can make objects move wherever my eyes can see. The more things I move, the lesser time I am able to", she explained, "Also a passive ability where I can see through a person's thought from time to time".

"Oh really?", Ace smiled to himself, "What am I thinking now?". "You're going to bring me to a smithy to select weapons and armour for me after that we.....", she stops halfway as her face became red, "Master, you're unbelievable", she softly spoke.

"Well, I'm just showing you what people would think about when we go out there", Ace nonchalantly said to her.

"For your information master, this ability kept me alive throughout the years of my life, evading every bad motive against me", she replied puffing her chest up and putting her hands beside her hips posing like a proud hero.

'Wow, she actually looks good like that', Ace thought to himself as he looks at her causing her to blush even more. "Wait a minute, so that means you have been reading my thoughts since we met?", Ace questioned her as his eyes stared at her. "Don't be angry with me master, I'm only trying to protect myself, I cannot help it", she whimpered as she went on her knees bowing her head.

"That explains everything now. Were you expecting me to save you last night?", he questioned. "Surprisingly, I couldn't. All I heard was you thought I had no resolve, I was afraid that you wouldn't bother about my body once I'm dead", she said as her eyes widened while tilting to one side.

'Damn she's too cute', Ace covered his face. "Ok try to move this around" as he passed an arrow to her. The arrow slowly floated up and moved in every direction. "Good, now I want you to shoot the arrow forward but letting go when you've done your maximum speed". *Whoosh! Doioingggg!* as it embedded halfway into the wall.

"Ok that's all I need to know for now", Ace said as he change to a simple armor set he that kept around to look like a normal adventurer. "Time for an upgrade".
