It was almost a day without food and water. They were not ready to live their rest of their life in that room. They need to move on.
Brian looked for any escape hatch or a quick fire escape. But they were soon to realize the bitter truth. They are entrapped in one of the most congesting rooms in that hospital.
" We need to get out or we will starve to death."; Aldrin tried to convince them.
Gerald was almost picking up but soon will be in serious effects of malnutrition.
" I prefer starving than to get bitten by one of those."; Clad was worried.
They need to get out of here somehow. They were so close to being saved. If somehow they could reach the top of that building they assured their safety.
" OK. I will go and see if there is any threat. " ; Brian gave a helping hand.
They all agreed since they had no much choice for them. Brian only had knife which Gerald gave him. He was ready to go out. His mission is to see if they are safe to move and also find an alternative escape route. They should keep moving up. He took a final glance out of that small transparent window on the door. He took some quick breaths. He seems to be ready. He gave a count of three and opened that door with a burst. The ward was unusually quiet. He moved through a series of some random medical equipments that were scattered on the floor. He picked some scalpel that was lying on the floor just in case. His eyes didn't rest. He was not ready to believe his own senses. He didn't trust them anymore. Just then he saw a door that lead to another ward. There can be some possible escape rooms that can be used. He went in to check it out. It was as deserted as any other. He saw a service elevator at a corner. He didn't knew where it lead so he have to check it out. He went near it hoping it is still functional. He tried some switches at the interface. It made some sound but stopped after a few seconds. He tried it again but his actions went in vain. He tried to open it with force but wasn't of any use. He searched for some tool to open it. He looked around the shelf. He saw an E.C.G machine lying down all distorted. He took an end of it's wire that usually should be connected to a body. He stripped the covering insulation part to find some metallic cables. He bend it to a curved structure. It should be an alternative key for the elevator. He tried his newly modified key on it's key hole and was successful in his actions. There was no carriage. He looked down and it was a pretty deep hole. The carriage was actually above them almost ten floor above them. He was considering it as their only escape plan. He went back to their hideout. Clad was so very impatient and wasn't even listening to him. She just want to get out from this place. Gerald refused to the plan almost instantaneously.
" It's too dangerous.
That thing doesn't has an operator to control
it. Any false move, or any wrong tension
could break it." ; Gerald tried to confront them.
" Two things -
I'm open to any better idea
and two
that thing is meant to carry weight " Brian replied with a sarcastic grin.
" Oh -
two things -
the carriage spreads it's weight along itself
and two -
are we alone in this building? -
nope; so we figure out something else.
OK?"; Gerald replied back.
" Gerald; he's right.
We don't have much options.
We need to take this chance. " ; Aldrin tried to
convince him.
Gerald knew he didn't have much large window . He knew he had to take some risk at some point of this mission but this will directly put everyone's life at risk. At first he didn't had much to say. He thought for some moment.
" OK.
We will do this, but
it should be one at a time.
Brian will be first. He can open some door just
before that elevator. " ;Gerald made clear of
his mind.
All seems to agreed to the plan. It was pretty foolproof without any adversities. They opened the door with caution. It was almost after two day they set their foot outside that room except for Brian. They looked around and covered each other. They went to the spot Brian was talking about. It looked more dangerous than Brian described. But they didn't seems to have much choice. Brian took a deep breath and clanged on to a floating cable. The carriage rocked a bit and that when they realized it isn't even on its main cable. For Gerald this is suicide but others didn't seems to leave this chance. Brian pulled himself up across the cable. He was cautioned by the deadly fact that a block of pure iron weighing close to few tonne can fall over him any minute. He reached the nearest elevator door to the carriage. He tried to open it with his unorthodox tool and found success. He opened it to find it was a store to keep all those medicine. He seems to be satisfied by the very size of that room. He gave an ' all clear ' to others. It was decided that Gerald will accompany them last to their new hideout. Aldrin went in next and followed by Clad and both reached the destination safely. It was Gerald's turn. He put his bag pack on his shoulders and hold on to the cable. His legs were still fresh from the memories of his accident. It was still aching but he holds on to it. He climbed slowly and almost reached the end when the carriage moved a bit. All heart went thumping. Gerald looked up and he could see some creatures on top of that carriage. Creatures sense them and was trying to get to them. Gerald tried to move quickly and lost his balance. He was about to fall down when someone got him by his hand. It was Brian. He pulled him with all his might. That carriage was not going to hang in there for much long. It was already slipping through a side and Gerald was still trying his best to keep it steady.
" You need to trust me.
You need to let go of that cable. Then only
I can pull you to safety." ; Brian tried to help
him.
Brian nodes at Gerald and he was ready to trust him .
He lets it go and the carriage went crashing down. They just got enough time to pull him to safety.
They all looked at each other. They were still breathing hard.
" That was one heck of a plan." ; Gerald exclaimed.
" Oh, yes it was."
A small laughter broke out between them. For a second they forget about the scenario. They just became humans again.
