The Third Eye

THIRD PERSON

What a worthless demon I am dealing with. The white wizard said to himself as his plans of getting Michael poisoned failed miserably.

''Are you sure you poisoned his drink?''

''I don't tell lies. It is against my religion.''

The white wizard stood up in anger to face the Royal taskmaster. ''Are you telling me that my poison failed me?''

''Yes. Or your little demon over here might be immune to poison from crazy castle wizards. He might be more powerful than you think he is. Maybe you underestimated him.''

The white wizard shook his head slowly as he strode over to the window in the dimly lit room.

''No. My poison was just fine. It was more than enough to get rid of him.'' The white wizard drawled darkly.

''So...what made you fail?''

The white wizard was stunned. '' 'You?' ''

'' Yes, you. This has all been your mission and not mine. I was just unfortunate to be dragged into your madness.''

The white wizard sighed terribly. A bat flew past the window he was standing by, and a deep frown formed on his face.

''He has someone keeping a third eye on him. Watching and protecting him. I can feel it.''

The Royal task master rolled an eye at the white wizard as he grabbed a red apple from the table and stabbed it with a knife, ''You mean...he has a guardian angel or demon keeping a close eye on him inside the palace?'' He bit the apple with his teeth and chewed.

''No.'' Roman, the white wizard's pet snake hissed furiously from where it tangled itself and the white wizard smiled. He looked down from his window and saw him. The slit-shaped eyes, the red-haired, young creature of mystery. The puzzling child that has been following Michael.

Their eyes bore into each other, and the intense stares shared between the mystery child and the white wizard pierced through the cold, night air, creating an electric tension between them.

''This one watches from outside and he is very powerful beyond our imaginations.''

The white wizard observed with wonder as the creature disappeared into the woods. It was very strange. The way the creature matched his burning stares.

''We need to tread carefully from now on and make sure we don't fail this time.'' The white wizard said as he moved away from the window and sat back on his chair of bones with a tired sigh.

''Wait, you are going to try to poison him, again?''

''I will not try to poison him this time. I hate to fail twice. I will wait for another opportunity. But that demon would die in my hands. That, I am sure of.''

There was silence between them after that.

''I heard that somebody got injured and that demon saved her life and brought her to the palace to stay for some time. Who is she?''

''Uh...that's right. His Majesty...'' Aries frowned at the word majesty that fell from his mouth. It felt weird to say. ''... did save someone. Some princess from the kingdom of Morbid.''

''Morbid?''

''Yes, Morbid.''

The white wizard smiled. Something sinister just crept into his dark mind.

''Now, My dear friend, I have another assignment for you.''

''I am not your puppet.'' Aries spat back.

The white wizard stilled for a moment before he flashed Aries a sly smile. ''Allllright. I need your help with something. I need you to spy on our little guest for me.''

''Why?''

''Nothing. She might...freak out if she met me in person and I might not get to know her very well. I want you to watch her every move. What she says, eats, goes, and her activities especially in the early hours of the day, before sunrise. I want to know how she interacts with the demon and the queen.''

NOWEL

Perfect.

Just perfect.

I traced my finger along his beautiful jawline and down to his lips, and he was just...perfection.

Since he passed out on my shoulders and I could not find any guard around to carry him to his room, I had no other choice but to drag him to mine, which was nearer.

I sat on the bed and his head rested on my lap. I had the maids heat the fire to keep both of us warm. I played with his long hair as he slept on my lap and trust me when I say that he looks more adorable when he sleeps.

I watched as he breathed on me peacefully.

He was still in his royal clothes and I could tell that he would be very uncomfortable sleeping in those. I contemplated changing him myself but thought of the aftermath.

He would burn me to death if he ever found out. I smiled, my left hand was wrapped around him to keep him close and warmer and my free hand messed with his ridiculously long hair.

Then I smiled again as I remembered one of the rules he made about his hair. He could kill me if he ever found out.

I am sure that this position of ours could never happen if he were to be awake.

He is so full of mysteries and a very confusing half-demon to himself and others. My mind traveled back to what he said last before he slept on my shoulders.

Help me.

From what?

The trouble you are in with the court because of your latest foolish act?

''No.'' He whispered.

What?

''No...''

My eyes went to him to find him still asleep. But I noticed how tense his jaw was, the tightness of his facial muscles as the eyes beneath his closed eyelids began to move.

''Please. Please, don't hit her. Please.''

What? Her? Who is he talking to?

Gradually he began to move his fingers and buried them in the thickness of the bed sheets. "No. No. No...please.'' Tears began to stream down his face. Oh my, I have to wake him up! He is having a bad dream.

His wondering fingers found mine and held them tightly.

"No!"

My eye-god! What should I do? Wake him up? Yes!

''No...please, father, please...'' He begged no one as more tears came. ''It hurts, so much...my demon---my neck burns...no! You are going to kill her, please." He sobbed out in my arms as my mind tried to grasp all that he mumbled.

I tried freeing my hand from his iron grip but I couldn't. His forehead began to burn as tiny drops of sweat appeared on it. I tried to calm him with my other hand wrapped around his shaking body but he couldn't be consoled, so I---"Michael!" called out to him in one paranoid state, and to my surprise he relaxed. But the tears kept flowing down like a river.

Oh my--how am I supposed to handle situations like this?!

What should I do next?

Wake him up? Clean his tears or let him go back to sleep?

The sky rumbled to signal the arrival of the downpour.

''Micahel, sweetheart, are you okay?'' I also whispered to him. Hoping to the heavens and the thousands of gods up there that he heard me.

I stilled as he slowly let go of my right hand and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to himself.

Oh. eye- God.

What does that mean? He is fine, happy, needs a hug, terrified...what does that mean?!

''Michael? Are you awake?''

I waited. And waited. For something to happen. Anything to happen.

But nothing happened.

Maybe he has..."Father...you are hurting Mom. She's bleeding.''

My entire universe went on lockdown.

Mom?
