Ryders

"We are the warriors who learn to love the pain. We come from different places but bear the same flag. Fear not the battle ahead, relish it for it is our lifeblood."

Excerpt from 'The Speech to the Ryder Regiment' given by The Ryder of War, Noelopan.

--------

To understand some of the stories I'm about to tell you, the first thing you need to know is what a Ryder is. A Ryder, or a champion for some is one who's power goes beyond the limits of their own race. Actually, Ryders didn't just go beyond those limits, they just didn't have any in the first place.

It is not a title you are given by the system nor a blessing of a god, it is something one is born with, Ryders are able to go toe to toe with even Dragons when it comes down to it. Without Ryders, the great cleansing could've never taken place.

They are powerfull, and if they want you dead, you already are.

Excerpt from 'Great Tales of Indru' by the Scholars Society.

----------------------------------

"What gave it away?"

I had no idea what they were talking about at the time so I just observed them.

"The fact that you have that blade for one. Every scholar knows of Mooneye, it was one of our greatest treasures and the only way to get the great Nagiliant to come to the Scholars Society."

"Figures they'd teach you about it, the blade is one of the five old ones. Any other clues that led you to the conclusion, say I didn't use it, how would you have known?"

"Easy, I knew it the moment you released your aura but just wasn't completely sure. Your power goes way beyond what you could handle."

"Could someone please tell me what is going on?" both me and Diana interjected.

They gave us an explanation on what Ryders were. Then they explained about the blade.

"What do you mean exactly with no limits."

"We have no level cap, we can keep levelling for as long as is necessary."

I was dumbfounded at the idea.

The blade was one of the five swords created by the creator of the world, three of which are in the hands of the human race, one is used to keep a curse at bay and the last is fused with a dragons heart, who had subsequently ascended to godhood and taken over the gods. That dragon was Aurelion.

The only tanzanite weapons in existence belonged to the original ones created at the start of this world.

"Wait, you're saying the only tanzanite swords in existence are created by this world's creator and no other blade is made with it. Is there any chance one belongs a human in black armour?"

"Yes, the latest blade added to the collection of humans, it is called Ratio, it was said to be the most usefull though it's owner has dissapeared right after getting it. Why?"

"I might've eaten the sword ..."

They all looked at me in anger.

"YOU DID WHAT?!"

"Hey, how was I suppossed to know, I had just been transported to this random fantasy world only to learn that I need to eat minerals to make my body stronger, although they don't affect my stats for some reason so I don't know if it's doing anything.

Then I found this dead human with a delicious sword and some quality armour, I mean, why would I let that go to waste?"

They all calmed down a bit, although not much.

"Luckily, those weapons can't be destroyed meaning that it's probably bound to you in some way, although since you have no degestive track I would have no idea where.

Also, you are misunderstanding stats, they don't show what our bodies are physically capable of, they just show us what the system adds in power by absorbing the energy of the world and infusing it with your body."

"That makes sense actually, I've barely seen them go up except for level-up."

I looked to his blade and noticed something I hadn't tought about before. The blade didn't have the same blueish black color Ratio had.

"How come it's color is different?"

"Oh that, depends on their ability, this one is a conductor meaning that it's incredibly easy to siphon magic through it.

The one you ate is the one that had the power to distort space.

You also have the blade of time, the blade of Life, the blade of Light and the blade of death. Every one of the other weapon types are also like this."

With that, the conversation was apparently over since Nagi went to bed and Aella and Markus didn't weem to want to say anything so they followed suit.

This had been an interesting night, I had finally learned something about my companions although I still didn't know more than what they were.

"Hey, Terry, why did those dudes say they should be dead?"

"They just dissapeared, they slayed a dragon and then just dissapeared."

"How long ago was this?"

"About 17 yea... Oh, yeah that makes sense. They were probably the best bet to keep the baby safe."

Just like the previous time, I just sat down and made sure that nobody was spying on us.

In the middle of the night I heard a system message from Diana.

{Congratulations! Host has gained the skill Fate affinity.}

That sounded so useful but also so scary. She was being chased by that goddesses disciples and now she got a skill only her blessed ones could get? What if she can track anyone who has the skill?

Before I could think of more bad scenarios she woke up screaming.

"MOM, DAD, UNCLE, please, please be alive." I rushed over to her.

"Hey, Diana, look at me. LOOK AT ME. Breathe, in and out, in and out. They're all safe, nothing happened to them yet."

She started crying in my arms. "It was so real, so so real. I could see them die, the life fading from their eyes. Please don't let it happen."
