Chapter 18: Stella Wei

After bidding Lu Minzhe goodbye, Miyeon could finally relax. She took a shower and prepared for bed. As per habit, she scrolled through her social media and saw her sister Lee Ning and Song Yu's engagement photos. The venue was at a popular hotel in Y City; it appears adopted dad spared no expense for this union. Lee Ning looked beautiful in her red cheongsam dress and her fiance was equally handsome in a maroon changshan tunic and black slacks. The family of both the soon to be husband and wife in the photos had beaming smiles on their faces.

'Family, huh?' Miyeon sadly mused. She was about to put down her phone when it vibrated with a message from Lu Minzhe.

[Minzhe]: Thank you for dinner. Your cooking was delicious.

[IamIrene]: I am glad Minzhe-ge liked it.

[Minzhe]: Good night.

[IamIrene]: Mm.

Elsewhere in Y City, L Ciel Headquarters~

A few days passed and Shu Li has settled into her role as chief designer of Le Ciel. To the public she is the beautiful, talented, and highly esteemed daughter of the Wei Family. Unbeknownst to many she used to be completely lost in life, for several years she had just been living vicariously in the UK. Her brother Su Han will be taking over the family's textile and fabric empire as the heir. And as for her, she was told she could do whatever she wanted. She was attractive and extremely wealthy so she was always surrounded by many 'friends.' A goal? She didn't have anything of that sort. So she spent the days partying, shopping, and having lavish vacations.

At first she took interest in Miyeon because Miyeon was a strikingly beautiful face. Shu Li was a big 'facecon' and she finds Miyeon's face extremely pleasing to the eye. Miyeon could easily be a model or celebrity if she wanted. Shu Li had seen her a couple of times on campus at Westminster but the latter was always busy running about taking extra classes or studying alone at the library. Miyeon would also disappear right after school let out. It was a coincidence that they met at the private room of the restaurant that night. Shu Li was certain Miyeon had lied about her age to work in that establishment while serving alcohol. It was so refreshing how Miyeon told off one of the jerks in her entourage. Perfect timing since she was getting tired of them. Shu Li is not stupid she knows those people are only sticking to her because of her black card.

After that day, Shu Li had quit hanging out with her usual crew and started bugging Miyeon. The latter was extremely cold at first, always rejecting her invites to hang out. But Miyeon wouldn't push Shu Li away if Shu Li just quietly stayed and did homework at the same table. Of course Shu Li would rarely focus on her classwork and would either end up doodling on her books or trying to chat up Miyeon usually getting no response from the latter. Never did Shu Li imagine she would be ignored by someone completely.

However, one time Miyeon had carefully looked at her doodles and commented, "That looks really nice. Are you planning to study fashion design?"

Shu Li who had not bothered to declare a major just jokingly responded, "Why? Will you wear the clothes I make?"

She would never forget that moment. Miyeon's honest and clear eyes looking at her and Miyeon's succinct response, "Yes, I would. They are beautiful."

It was quite funny how Shu Li was able to find her dream by chance. She was able to take a foray in this new interest easily since she had the means to do so, being the daughter of the Wei Family. However, once she started seriously studying design, her talent soon became known and the news quickly traveled back to her family in C Country. Just like that, the Wei Family began to expand their business to the fashion industry; it was a business that will be Shu Li's legacy.

Yes, in the UK she had found both her dream and her love, yet unfortunately she lost the latter. Shu Li looked down at the diamond bracelet on wrist. A token designed by her ex-lover Anissa Taillac.
