Chapter II (unedited)
Evangeline Marino:
It has been about a week since I had received that message from the unknown number and I am assuming that it was a prank. Probably from someone that had nothing to do with their life other than freaking strangers out. Its also been a week since the student nurses had been here and I must say, some of them had really impressed me and others not so much. I had about two nurses leave the program. I know I said that I couldn't wait to make it hell for them and see how they are going to react, which I have done just that. I gave them challenges, but also gave them every chance to succeed. I don't like giving bad feedback to the teachers, but I cannot have incompetent nurses on my team. That is if they get a job here.
Finishing up on my patient file, I put it with the others, and let out a sigh of relief. It's finally he end of my 12c hour shift and all I want to do is pass out on my bed.
"Eve, I know it is the end of your shift and that you've been here since early this morning, but I need you to take a patient in room 215. Everyone refuses to take him as he keeps running them out. You're the only one left that he hasn't chased away."
"Doctor Morgan, you know I cannot stay any longer. HR would have my head if they have to pay me anymore overtime," I deadpanned. "However, I'm sure they can make an exception due to the situation."
"I'll let HR know about the situation." He gratefully smiles at me. Whispering underneath his breath, I swear he said, "I just hope you can survive," and I don't think I was supposed to hear that. Who is this patient? I groan in annoyance and rub my hands down my face, before making my way to the room.
Knocking on the door, "Hello, may I come in?" I hear a muffled yes and slowly opened the door. Taking a quick glance at the wall, I see the name: Zachariah Knight. I don't know, but something about that name gives me the shiver, and not in a good way. Calming my breath, I take my eyes off the name name and faced the patient. My breath hitched.
From his stunning green eyes to his black hair and plump full lips. His face covered with a sly smirk, knowing I was staring at him. Letting my eyes wander down, I see how the light bounces off his face, outlining his sharp defined bone structures. He was beautiful. Staring him down even more, I felt lady parts get wet and a blush appear on my face.
"Are you done staring darling?" His deep voice rang through the entire room causing me to gulp and my heart to beat faster. At this point, I was dripping and feel like I was about to pass out.
Finally snapping out of my thoughts, I stammered, "I-I wasn't staring." Clearing my throat, I spoke with a much stronger tone, "I was simply doing a once over to see if I could find anything wrong."
He waved his hand and before I could ask him anything, I felt a sharp prick in my neck. In that moment, I knew a needle filled with who knows was injected. My right hand flies to the injection point and feeling the room spinning, I stumble into a pair of arms. I move my head upwards the best I could and I see Mr. Knight. When did he get out of bed?
I feel a kiss on my forehead and someone broke the silence with, "You are finally mine," before everything goes completely black.
