The King's System

A King. A cultivator. A god. Three lives, one man. Watch as his glorious 4th life leads him to the apex! ------------------------------- "What are you doing?!" "Huh? I'm sleeping." "But this is your introduction!" "And what makes you think I care about something like that?" ------------------------------- Ahem. Watch as his gloriously "lazy" 4th life leads him to the top! ----------- My entry for Writing Prompt 32-a: System (Male Lead) Chapter length is around 1150 on average. ----------- P.S. the start of the novel is poking fun at generic reincarnation novels where the MC becomes a ruthless killer despite being a normal earthling. The annoying dialogue with the system is included in that. Also, first time writing so expect some less than good writing.

Leaving Erast

After the competition, Arin, Catherine and I returned to the inn. I asked Catherine to test out her new sword, and I think she managed to level up twice because of it. Amazing.

I've also asked Ed to appraise while she's wielding it.

[Knight's Rose (Half-God): A sword forged for a loved one. Guided by their views and principals, this sword is tailor made for them.

(Unsealed): This sword shall only be used to protect the weak and act with righteousness. A large boost in power will be present in all conditions as long as this oath is unbroken. Should it be broken, the sword itself will shatter.

(Named): The forger has given this sword a fitting name. At the same time, the forger has infused his intent into the sword and upgraded its rarity.

(Half-God): Has all the requirements to become a God item, except for divinity. The sword has already accepted its purpose. It will serve its wielder to the best of its ability.]

I need to tell Catherine about its effects. Otherwise, she might accidentally break it.

"Catherine, this sword is a bit special. There's an oath on it that it can only be used to protect the weak and it can only act with righteousness. In return, you will get a very large boost in combat strength. However, if the oath is broken, the sword will shatter." (Daniel)

"Nya! Did nyou make it like that for me?" (Catherine)

"Yes, I did. Especially after what you said on our date, I realized that such a sword would be perfect for you. What you said… about not judging someone as ugly simply because there's something more beautiful… in my opinion is the epitome of chivalry." (Daniel)

"Thank nyou again, Daniel!" (Catherine)

"Hehe, you're welcome!" (Daniel)

I proceeded to stroke her hair after that. She seemed to enjoy it, as she squinted her eyes a little bit.

However, before anything too serious could develop, Arin cleared her throat to disrupt our atmosphere.

"Ah, sorry Arin. I don't really know how to make bows, so you'll have to wait a bit." (Daniel)

"Again… can't you say it in more flowery language? Like how you're working on something so grand for me that it will take much longer or something…" (Arin)

"Ah, I'm working on something so grand for you that it will take much longer." (Daniel)

"Don't just repeat what I said!" (Arin)

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!" (Catherine)

All of us burst into laughter. Sometimes, it's best to just relax for a bit and enjoy the company of your loved ones.

Now, we need to prepare for the resumption of our journey. We've spent around one and a half weeks in this town, and we were already initially delayed.

So far, the journey has taken us one and a half months. How long will it take us to reach the capital?

While we were gathering our things and repurchasing essential items, I asked Ed to appraise Catherine while she was training with her sword.

[Name: Catherine

Class: Rose Knight

Leve: 76]

'Rose Knight? Why did she change class?' (Daniel)

'Named Half-God items also have a hidden class that only appears when it is wielded.' (Ed)

'Then how come my Dragonsbane didn't get one?' (Daniel)

'It did, but you never properly wielded it. It will automatically replace your secondary class whenever you use it. You can still change it just like any other class during that time. However, after you sheathe it, you can no longer access that class.' (Ed)

'And what class does Dragonsbane give?' (Daniel)

'Dragon Slayer, a Legendary class. You'll deal more damage to dragons, and cause them to feel a primal fear.' (Ed)

'Then what about Rose Knight?' (Daniel)

'Also a Legendary class. Increased attributes whenever fighting for or with the person they love.' (Ed)

'Sooo… she gains more strength whenever she fights with me? Does it stack? Because when she's fighting with me, she's also fighting for me…' (Daniel)

'Do you really think you can find such an easy loophole in the system? Of course it… stacks.' (Ed)

'Huh? Did I hear you say something about finding a loophole?' (Daniel)

'Shut up! For some reason, the main system has agreed to change it so that it stacks, but only for Catherine.' (Ed)

'And how can this 'main system' interfere with the rules of this world?' (Daniel)

'You'll have to ask them. I don't know.' (Ed)

'So useless…' (Daniel)

We're once again setting out. When the people of Erast got wind that we were leaving, they all rushed towards the western gate and saw us off. This obviously enraged Sivod, so I can probably expect some obstacles or assailants on our way to Bredon.

Speaking of Bredon, the only reason we're even stopping there is because Catherine's maternal aunt is there.

Otherwise, I would never have suggested to stop at a Church-infested town. Especially since I'm a Necromancer. Luckily, Ed has assured me that no-one will be able to detect the aura of death that is constantly surrounding me.

After walking a good distance away from Erast, I take out my bone carriage and 50 LV80 Refined King's Guard Skeletons.

After that blacksmithing competition, I think it's about time to revamp the weapons and armors that my Guards possess. The weapons they have right now are just replicas of a simple Noxia sword, so it's very low in quality.

What I'm planning for is katanas and nodachis. With those, they won't be able to have shields, but the hardness of their armor and their immunity to trauma will offset that.

The katanas and nodachis will have superior cutting force, and combined with their sharpness, I believe that even refined Orichalcum won't be a match for them.

According to Ed, if I specifically name a certain Skeleton of Legendary grade, there is a chance that it will develop its individual personality and become a Half-God skeleton. Granted, it will still be completely subservient to me. However, this is a new revelation that will save me a lot of time.

If I can name these skeletons after famous historical generals like Hannibal or Alexander the Great, then they might just be able to become actual undead generals and tacticians.

Then I wouldn't need to kill humans in order to get their experience.

Ah, so many things to do, yet so little time and mana. I think I'll focus on trying to evolve my Necromancy for now.

Very soon, my inventory will be swamped with Elder Liches. Speaking of which, I wonder if my Elder Liches can create Liches by themselves. If they can, then once I get to a high enough level, there'll be an entire hierarchy of Liches under me.

How majestic and cool would that be?

7th chapter of the day.

I don't know if I'll be able to release any more.

Thanks for reading!
