It felt like my soul left my body.

I stared at Claire's eyes which were looking at me with seriousness and my mind just totally blanked. Her words were like mysteries that I wasn't able to figure out and I wasn't able to react.

That was... until I saw Claire's clear eyes slowly glistened with tears that indicated the pain that she felt inside.

Claire had an extraordinarily strong and brave personality. Oftentimes, because of her responsibility as the alpha, she would be badly hurt. However, I never saw her complain about it. On the other hand, she would merely laugh the pain off until she was fully healed. Many times, she would face difficulties that any ordinary werewolf wouldn't be able to face. However, no matter what kind of hardship she felt, she would always face it with determined eyes and her chin raised high.

In all those years that I have known her... I have never seen a tear fall from her eyes.
