Mikael urged Santina and the other party was cooperative enough to comply right away.

"Well, based on what I can see from our previous autopsies, there is a high chance that our killer used to slits the throats of his victim first. Just under the chin from ear to ear---"

As she was explaining, Santina was also demonstrating everything that she was saying so that Anton would have a clear picture of the image that she was trying to portray.

Meanwhile, Mikael served as her perfect model. She traced her finger down his face, from his left to right ear. Then as though reenacting the very action of the killer itself as the other party committed the crime, Santina put her hand in position under Mikael's chin.

She continued then she ran her hand over from Mikael's chin up to his forehead as though she was trying to remove an invisible mask from the other party, all the while explaining it in complete detail.

"He slit his fingers like this and peel the skin back over the bones with the aid of a knife."

The young professor described exactly what she could picture in her mind at that moment. A hypothesis she had based on the findings she got from the combined autopsies that she conducted throughout the case.

Over the course of a year, Santina had already refined this hypothesis of hers that she was already confident to say that if her description was not exactly how the killer did it, then it would not be far from it.

"The act of removing the faces of his victims is just as important to him as completing his crime. It is not something done at random."

Mikael said as soon as Santina was done stating their hypothesis and this in returned raised another question from Anton's mind.

"How do you guys became so detail with the flaying of the face? "

"This was significant to him and so it has to be the same for us. I am certain that there is an underlying reason why he was removing the faces of his victims. He has done it to all of his victims with no exception."

The sound made by Santina's pen as she scribbled away was the only sound that could be heard after Mikael speak. Mikael waited for Santina to finish what she was doing before he slumped forward more heavily and then he put his hands over his face.

Meanwhile, Anton felt as though his eyeballs were throbbing and so he closed it. Yet despite his closed eyelids, he could still feel the pulsing of vein in his temple.

It was only then that he realized the severity of the case that he would be working with and just by hearing about it alone was enough to give him headaches already.

So he could not help but imagine the soup of headache brewing along his way in the upcoming days.

The stress of learning the nature of the case was slowly heaping upon him and for some reason, it seemed to make his palm cold against his warm forehead.

"Other than the body that you have recovered, we have already performed autopsies on fifteen corpses. So all in all, we now have sixteen at our disposal. All with similar injuries."

"Sixteen?!!!"

Anton exclaimed and asked with his eyes wide in shock. But Mikael only replied to him with a casual manner as though it was no longer a big thing

"Yep, and that was why we are now planning to reach out to the Bureau so we could finally start exhuming the area on a bigger scale. We are just bidding our time and waiting for the go signal. "

"These murders had been going on for a year at most and yet nobody raised a stink?!!!"

Anton asked again. Disbelief was clearly reflecting on his facial expression.

"Surely they should have been reported, right? Or was it not?"

He added afterward.

"Of course it was. However, it was not transmitted to the to higher levels."
