The Introverted Witch

A school holiday trip turns bloody when a pack of werewolves attacks and it becomes a problem for Auroras when she's tasked to take care of the students. There is another student that's a vampire but he cannot do it alone. It's more of a problem because she's outed as a witch when no one knew her as one of the supernatural, and because she's an introvert and a wallflower, she is now everyone's favorite person when they didn't bother about her before. On the trip, she encounters Kane, an unwanted and dangerous being who was not supposed to be there. Through the connection, she becomes a chosen one and throughout her trials, she gives in. Away from home and everything she knows, Aurora has to survive on her own. With everything taken from her and the only help she has is from trading with daemons, she has to earn her freedom. Learning new skills on her way, things she's never dreamed were possible a year ago. From a witch who had to hide her power to a powerful sorceress, Aurora is at a loss though. Does she even understand what freedom means to a daemon? Can she fight against those who oppose her and does she even want to? *** Aurora is an introvert. Partly born and party grew more into an introvert as time went on. She is also a witch, which complicates things since witches are social beings. Hence the reason of covens. She wants both but cannot get either. On one hand, she has extra workload and on the other, it seems like the spirits have rejected her and so no coven wants her and that included the coven she was born in.

Chapter 19

Each heir that she would go up against is fit and strong and trained in both magic and physical fitness. She could see it in their stance and the way they handled themselves while she only had a limited amount of spells not fit enough to try against them. She was trained in combat and she was efficient but she didn't want to test it against them. She knew from what she's learned here but she never tried to practice it so it should be a last resort, just like everything else.

"We give you all a full day to rest and enjoy pleasures and get to know one another before you are to try to reach Aurastia, Aurora, and before you twelve try to stop her, goodnight" With that said the daemons left and she and the twelve entered the building that they would spend the night and the rest of the day- a day she is so not looking forward to.

Aurastia is a place hidden in the forest, one that moves every year cycle. It is a place that houses the pure stream of magic waves said to be visible enough to touch. It hides from daemon kind and the like and is said to attract only those who have an affinity for drawing its power. The great houses of course have such power, it's one of the reasons they are the great houses.

As she lies on the ground apart from the group of twelve, hearing their chatter, she wonders how foolish she was to think she could win. They seem to be teaming up and she will be alone, like always... Even her aunt's spirit has not shown up or made contact, which boggles her mind because she thought she could count on her aunt even after death but she, like her parents, has abandoned her. Could spirits even cross into this realm? It makes sense that they can. Why does she even want to survive anymore? There's no use for her, and her will to fight leaves her more every day. When she looks at others, it feels like they are living meaningless lives but are moving forward each day while she's stuck like a rock in the rushing sea. She might be pushed from her spot but she's just disrupting the flow. At first, she blamed others but then she grew wiser and was enlightened to her flaws. Maybe she should try reasoning with the twelve? She'll tell them the truth tomorrow. Yes, Aurora thought, this was the best route for her, if they believe her, they can help otherwise, what does she chance to lose?

She watched them from her corner bed as they toasted and drank. She knew the houses didn't get along well but they had to get along to show comrades to the rest of the daemons but watching them now... Maybe all of it was true. They seemed to be friends. They didn't have anyone to show their comrade yet they behaved like close allies slash friends. Now that she was seeing them out of their interactions with others and she wasn't intimidated, she couldn't help but check them out. They all were so different but they all called to a part of her that made her wish she would win this just so she would be theirs...

She couldn't give in to rest, there's no telling what they would do She thought just relaxing would make her feel better but unfortunately, it seemed to make her feel worse.

Having slept over it, she knew she could never reveal the truth because it could have been one of them that gave Clemsy that artifact and she would become a bigger target in that case.

She was in the forest again but a section that was normally closed off because it could lead to Aurastia and this time she was more or less well-rested and fed. They all could take two items with them so she took a bottle and scissors - why it was an option in the first place baffled her but it is a multi-use item, but what she wanted was taken, the bow and arrow. That scared her. As one not fit enough or know the forest, she was given an hour before the rest. It is not much of an advantage but she cannot complain.

As soon as she entered into the forest she stood in amazement. She couldn't let go of the feeling of being welcomed. She reached out and touched the trees and plants as she went and she could honestly feel a vibration of welcome from them all! This has never happened before. She felt at home and at that moment, she forgot about the race/hunt and just soaked in the welcome of this heavenly place. Tears gathered in her eyes and she just hugged the closest tree.

"Thank you... I do not know if you can hear me or understand but thank you! I will treasure this moment wherever I go, but I feel as if I have found my home and I no longer wish to leave"

At that, the vibration stopped but I could still feel... I do not know... The forest? Is it alive? I stepped back and looked around before choosing a direction and ran. I do not know how long I spent but any time is a loss... Well no, even if I am captured as a slave again, that moment would have been well worth it. It was when I reached a cliff that I stopped running and collapsed on the ground. I drank the water as fast as I could before regretting wasting it. I did not hear or sense anything but the wind picked up and as I relaxed in it, my eyes automatically opened up when shadow overcame the brightness. My heart skipped a beat and I didn't think, I just moved and jumped into the water below the cliff. I hoped it was deep enough but that was my last thought.
