Chapter 2 - That Day When My Psychiatrist Cried Harder Than Me

"Waaaaaaah oh Holy Yggdrasil, this kid is so calmmmm waaaaaah", cried the uncle in front of me for the 9th time in the span of 10 minutes.

"Um... Mr. Al? May I continue?", I asked somewhat worriedly.

"Yes, yes please *sob*, go ahead *sob*, don't worry about me *sob*", he answered while wiping his tears with a handkerchief.

The guy crying in front of me is Mr. Al, the soul soother. He said that his job is like a psychiatrist for mentally unstable souls.

Apparently, most souls who came here are mentally unwell because their life got cut short too suddenly, like mine. There are all kinds of mentally sick souls living here, from people who died because of a car accident like me, to people who died from choking on a candy.

( Be careful of candy, those sweet little gems can be evil too )

After hearing his explanation, I began to understand why there's so many rooms on the upper floor. It's because not everybody is as calm as me when they die, meaning, they can't proceed to undergo the final screening for rebirth. Thus they needed a room to recuperate and a soul carer to take care of them during their stay.

Anyway, about this rebirth thing, I'm not talking about the normal kind of reincarnation. According to Mr. Al, this office only took care of special souls that are fit to transmigrate to other worlds, that is why this office is called the Interworld Transmigration Office.

In short, this office took care of all transmigration businesses between worlds. And this office is located in Yggdrasil, an incredibly big tree which trunks and roots connect one world to the other.

It's a bit too big-brained, but in short, my soul is currently passing through the immigration checkpoint to move from my world to another world. Like how we visit immigration checkpoints when passing through to another country, this system is also applied when moving between worlds.

But unlike how immigration usually works between countries, I don't need to prepare passports and other legal documents, instead I only need a calm enough soul and knowledge about the world I'm going to be transmigrated into.

Okay, this has been a long explanation, but please bare with me for a little while longer,

As it turns out, all stories that have ever been written or fantasised are little glimpses of other worlds. They are all blessings or inspirations, given by the world tree Yggdrasil to authors from each world, which works as a road that intimately connects all worlds with each other. That is why, the fact that I liked reading novels means that I've seen many glimpses of other worlds' memorable histories.

Thus, I've been chosen to transmigrate to the world of my favourite web-novel, 'While Wearing This Mask of Rivalry' to correct the ending where the brother ended up dead.

That's why I'm currently sitting in front of Mr. Al, answering his questions about what I know and how I live my life as part of the final assessment to transmigrate into the body of 'someone' from that world.

(Mr. Al said that he needs to keep the identity of the host body a secret to make sure that my soul won't encounter any problems when I transmigrate, even though my memories of ever visiting this place will get erased later.)

After I finished talking, Mr. Al looked at me, bleary eyed, and said, "Ah, I see I see *hic*, that is a very good way to look at life, I really envy you. *hic* Even when you have already transmigrated into a different body, you should still hold on to that belief in your heart, okay? *hic* Don't be like me, *hic* stuck in this corporate hell because I'm too irresponsible!"

I nodded in agreement and thought, Man this uncle sure can cry.

Believe it or not, he's been shedding tears the whole time I was there in his office. And when I started answering his question about how I view life, he cried even harder.

I'm sure I didn't do anything wrong but seeing an older guy crying non-stop in front of me makes me feel somewhat guilty. But before I began to say something about his crying problems, the door to the office opened curtly and a girl wearing a dirty red and blue long coat came in.

Her hair is pinkish blond, done in a messy high side ponytail.

From how heavy her breathing is and on how much leaves, soot, AND some red paint that looks suspiciously like blood are left on her coat, it's obvious that she had just arrived from someplace that is not, in any way, peaceful.

Seeing her dirty ankle boots leaving lots of dirty footprints in his office, the crybaby Mr. Al once again cried, but this time, it's not because of me.

"Waaaahhhh Celesttttt, don't come in with those dirty boots! I'll die from overwork if I also need to clean up my office again!", he cried while still wiping away his tears on both his eyes and his large round glasses.

Still out of breath, she answered,

"AL!" *heavy breathing*

"I HEARD!" *heavy breathing*

"THAT THE NEW SOUL IS-" *heavy breathing*

"CALM ENOUGH TO TRANSMI-" *choking sound* "-MIGRATE. TRANSMIGRATE."

"SO." *another heavy breathing*

"I'M." *she stopped a bit, and let out a heavy breath and a cough*

"I'M HERE!" *Let's out a huge breath slowly*

"Excuse me.", she whispered loudly, then turn around to fix her appearance for a bit, turn back again, cough once,

and proceeded on doing an elegant curtsy while saying,

"Greetings, Rezin Emmett. I am Celest, your Soul Scouter. I must apologise for my tardiness, but I am here to take you to Lady Rhea, the admin of world MW-6-376616."

Al :

“Waaaaahhhh Celesttt, you meanie!! I’d really die from overwork at this point!”

Celest :

*looking miserable, too tired playing messenger for the world admins even though it’s not her job, while still doing her main job as soul scouter*

Celest :

*smiled sweetly*

“Then die.”

Al :

*shivers*

“Even though we both technically are already dead, that’s still so mean!”
