Chapter 10

Sanaya’s P.O.V

“Sanaya! Hold up!”

I paused on my way to the exit and looked back to find Tanya running towards me in her disastrous high heels. I half expected her to slip on the polished marble floor and break a leg or two, but the woman managed to gracefully come to a stop in front of me without breaking a sweat.

“Good! I was able to catch you just in time.” She panted with a hand on her chest. “Are you done for the day? Do you wanna hang out?”

“Hang out? Where?” I asked her and noticed three other people had come to a stop a few feet away from us.

“The Vixen.” Tanya said with a huge smile and turned back and motioned the others to come join us. I immediately recognized Martin from the group. He wasn’t wearing his chauffer’s uniform this evening and instead had a light blue shirt on that complemented his icy blue eyes and he had paired it with crème coloured pants. His sandy blonde hair was gelled back in style and for the first time, I noticed that he was wearing a diamond stud earring in his left ear. Overall, the man looked dashing enough to give any Incubus a run for his money…except Lancelin Eustein, of course.

“Sanaya, this is Sophia Hudson, Head of the Internal Affairs Department,” Tanya introduced the short woman in a pixie cut, strawberry blond hair and bright green eyes. She seemed about five feet tall with a slender form who could’ve easily been mistaken for a middle schooler if she wasn’t wearing an office attire of black pants and a black jacket paired with a pink shirt underneath. She looked too cute to hold such a serious position and I wanted to pinch her cheeks just because she looked too damn adorable.

“And this is Zach Milton, Sophia’s assistant.” Tanya pointed to the six feet tall man with several visible tattoos on his check and neck as well as his arms. He had dark brown dreadlocks that reached just above his shoulders and the tips were dyed blonde. His skin was a glossy dark caramel and not only was he tall, he was pretty much built like a tank, with bulging muscles that stretched his white T-shirt to the point of demolition and black jeans with white converse.

“Yo!” Zach gave me a wide grin and a peace sign to which I just smiled politely and waved.

“And you’ve already met Martin.” Tanya slung an arm around his shoulder, much to Martin’s annoyance, as he gave her a glare from the corner of his eyes and shrugged her hand off.

“Don’t get all creepy on me, TinTin.” Martin told her as he pointed towards me. “You’ll scare her away.”

“Oh, honey!” Tanya smacked his butt right in front of everyone, making our eyes widen and Sophia burst into a giggling fit. “I haven’t even started yet.”

“Don’t mind them.” Zach sighed. “They’re always like this. We all keep wondering why they don’t just bang each other and get it over with.”

Both Martin and Tanya blushed and cleared their throats before Martin pointed towards the exit. “Let’s get going, shall we? We all have work tomorrow.”

The five of us headed towards the garage which was pretty empty at this time of night, except for a few cars scattered here and there. All of the cars looked high end and new. Martin pressed the button on his keys to unlock his car and a beautiful red car beeped into life.

Tanya let out a wolf whistle at the sight of the gorgeous ride as did Sophia and Zach.

“Wow! Look at Martin driving an Aston Martin SUV!” Zach whistled at the gorgeous red car parked at the middle of the parking lot.

“Ugh! Chauffer’s sure get good money these days,” Sophia sighed. “Maybe I should just change my job.”

“It was a gift from the Sire for my birthday last week.” Martin told Sophia with a huge smile. “Can’t believe I finally get to take my friends out on a ride on it.”

“Just a birthday present? How come I only got a Tiffany bracelet and you get an Aston Martin!” Tanya whined, stomping her feet like a five year old.

“Because you’ve only been here for three years while I’ve been here for eleven.” Martin stuck out his tongue at Tanya in an equally childish manner before he entered the driver’s seat.

I was given the opportunity to sit in the passenger’s seat while Sophia, Zach and Tanya all went for the back seat with Zach taking the middle with either woman on each side, as they listed off the gifts some of the employees had gotten on their birthday. After listening to the list of gifts, I felt a little at ease at having a ten thousand dollar lipstick inside my bag. It felt like a big weight had been lifted off my chest as I learned that Lancelin Eustein liked to splurge on his employees.

The Vixen, a bar on Lexington Avenue, a part of the ReefWood’s vast array of club houses, was jam packed at nine in the evening, on a Wednesday night.

“This way!” Tanya yelled over the music and led the entire group in a completely different direction than the bar.

Martin, Zach, Sophia and I followed Tanya to a side of the club where a bouncer stood in an all black uniform, looking like he was ready to break the house down at any point, and then she showed him her ID that we all have from the company. The bouncer nodded and pushed a button on the wall, opening a trap door that led up several stairs.

“Wow!” I whispered in awe as I followed everyone inside with Tanya still taking the lead while Martin took the rear end, right behind me.

The trap door closed shut as soon as we entered and I paused mid-step to look back at it, almost bumping into Martin. The noise from the dancefloor also receded as the doors shut and I could finally hear Sophia and Tanya giggling over a conversation they seemed to be having.

“Don’t worry,” Martin reassured me with a smile. “See that panel there?” He pointed to a small electronic panel on one side of the door. “All of our company cards are registered in all our clubhouses, so you can open the door anytime you want.”

I breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed my stiff shoulders before nodding at Martin and heading up the stairs that led to a private lounge. The lights were turned down so as to provide a private and romantic atmosphere and several comfortable sofas were spread all over the room. The sound system was playing a softer tune than downstairs and to one side of the room was a small private bar and an array of snack items to choose from. What was interesting however was the fact that one of the walls had an enormous glass window that looked down at the dancefloor and you could see several bodies swaying wildly to the overhead sound system.

“This is really nice.” I told no one in particular as I came to a stand in front of the window.

“Isn’t it?” Sophia said excitedly just as Tanya asked, “You’ve never been to any of the ReefWood clubhouses?”

“No.” I answered her honestly. “I’ve been to all of BlueStar resorts and some of the La Donna chain of hotels in New York, but not the clubhouses.”

“Well, I guess now it’s our duty to take you to all the fun places.” Zach raised his whiskey glass just as Sophia handed me mine.

“Cheers to Sanaya joining ReefWood!” Tanya raised a toast. “And the supernatural club!”

Thank goodness I hadn’t taken any sips of my drink yet or I definitely would’ve chocked on it. “Wait, what?”

“Oh!” Sophia gasped in horror. “You didn’t know?”

Suddenly, everyone stopped what they were doing and all eyes were on me. Sophia and Tanya gave each other warning looks meanwhile Zach was looking at me like he was inspecting a bug under the microscope. I felt perspiration form on my forehead under everyone’s scrutiny as I clutched the glass in my hand even tighter. The tension in the room was so thick, I could cut it with a knife.

“Oh, dear! I think we are in deep trouble!” Tanya mused. “What should we do now?”

What the hell is going on in here?
